I'm currently reading Joan Lowery Nixon's,"Whispers From The Dead". The author makes the characters very believable. The main character, Sarah, acts like an average teenager. She likes to hang out with her friends and just wants to have a good time. The other teenage characters throughout the book have the same traits. Those are some reasons why I think the characters are believable.

Your book sounds really great its really fascinating how your author makes the main character seem so real and lifelike.

Wings of fire: Escaping Peril By Tui T. Sutherland page:finished

It is really not possible to make it believable that these characters could be real, them being house sized dragons. However how they act is very believable, like Peril for example. She was taken at a very young age and taught by the queen of the kingdom that she was perfect and that Peril should do everything she said, no matter what. Throughout the story you are shown the development of Peril and truly see her change from being a mindless servant and obedient murderer, to a well rounded person? monster? dragon? I'm going with dragon.

I am reading the book Soul Surfer, the author of my book is Bethany Hamilton. The current page I am on is 43. The author of this book makes the characters believable because this is a true story. The main character of this book is actually the author also and everything that happens in this book is what happened in Bethany’s life. So the author doesn’t really have to make the characters believable she just has to tell about her life and life’s of some others.

Great explanation when explaining how the author makes the characters seem so realistic.

I have recently finished the book the Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell.Helmuth the main character is also the most believable and realistic.I say this because of his feelings about the socialist taking lead in Germany and occupying it. He wants to fight like every other young boy in Germany at the time. But he had his doubts which was very realistic. He also was afraid of the new order in Germany which most other books do not mention intimidation.

I am currently reading Rush Revere and the Star-Spangled Banner by Rush Limbaugh and I’m on page 131. The author makes the characters believable because the things they go though can happen to us. For example one of the characters named Tommy is on the edge of losing his granddad. This is believable because I lost my granddad a few years ago. The main characters all go to school like us, the all have people they don’t like that they have to deal with, all for a few things their lives are not so different from ours.

I love the Wings of Fire series.

The book I'm reading is "Power of the Three Warriors, Eclipse" by Erin hunter and I am on page 282. The author of this book makes the characters believable by the descriptions of the character's actions and the details she adds to the features of the characters. It's easy to picture the character when the author talks about the "scratch along Hollypaw's flank" and the "fur on Dustpelt's shoulder was matted with blood". When the author is descriptive about detail and actions, it doesn't take much effort to picture what the character is doing or what the character looks like. Erin Hunter puts in a lot of effort to help her readers understand what is going on in the story, because in some books... you just don't know what's going on!

My books name is Dork Diaries Tales from a Not-So-Dorky Drama Queen by Rachel Renee Russell. I have finished my book. Rachel makes the characters in the book believable by relating it to things that could actually happen in real life. In the book Nikki’s diary gets stolen from her personal bully Mackenzie. Mackenzie also tries to ruin Nikki’s blog.

I am reading Morpheus Road by D.J. Machale and I am on page 283. The author makes the main character believable in the way that he has flaws and isn't perfect but has hobbies he's good at, like drawing. He makes the characters have equal pro and cons about their personalities. The best friend's sister has amazing grades and looks like a model but her personality is cold and she still has insecurities. There's are somethings that the main character does that most people can relate to like laughing loudly at something stupid that happened.

My book is Throwing Strikes by R.A Dickey and I'm on page 164. The reason that the characters are believable is because it is a real autobiography. In his story, he talks about many life stories from his childhood that many people can relate to. He also tells about the real struggles that come with trying to make it to the big leagues. In the end, he becomes a great starting pitcher, proving that hard work pays off in real life.

The book I’m reading right now is Legacy of Lies (Dark Secrets 1) by Elizabeth Chandler and I’m on page 161. The author makes the characters believable by showing that they have actual emotions. At one point there is a ghost haunting Megan and she freaks out and is very confused rather than deciding to go explore and find out exactly who this ghost is like in typical stories. Also Megan is adopted which is very common these days but what makes it even more believable is the fact that her grandmother hates her for it. But I think the most realistic part of this story is that the town she is in is very close because of how small it is.

I am reading Twisted by Laurie Halse Anderson and on page 162. The author of my story has a few ways to make characters believable. One reason is that the author has characters that as a young reader can relate to. Also, the author makes certain things that happen in the book go down like it would in real life. Some authors and depending on what type of book it is just make everything go wrong or right, but in my story there is a mix.

The title of my new book is wildwood by Colin Meloy and I am on page 79. The author of my book makes characters believable by being very descriptive of not only what they look like but what they are doing. The author will wright what they are thinking also in a panicked situation and there thoughts are reasonable for the scary situation that they are in. In the story the author will describe the things that the characters are doping and even though it is a book so it is supposed to be exiting, he has them do every day things like baby sit or go to the library.

sbell4 said...

@DBecker4 that sounds like an interesting book, I've never heard of it

I am currently reading thriller by boys read. I am currently on page 119. The author of my book makes the characters believable because he makes the characters all have their own opinions on almost every topic. For example in the book the two psychics are always arguing weather this ghost is real and if there is a real knocking noise. By giving them their own voice it makes it seem more realistic then just a plain old ghost story. Also they are trying to make them have a different personality so it makes more sense to the reader.

The book I read for my project is "It's kind of a funny story" by Ned Vizzini, and have finished the book. The author of my book makes the characters believable is that the characters have real modern problems and drama just like real teens their age. This includes depression, dating, suicide, school, etc.

I’m currently reading “Backlash” by Sarah Darer Littman and I’m on page 230. The author makes this book believable because many people can relate. In the book the characters use social media which is usually a big part of our lives. People also get cyber bullied in the book which could be relatable too. There is also a girl talking to a random guy online which happens a lot.

The book i'm reading is The Green Mile by Steven King. Right now im on page 450. The characters are believable because they all have their backgrounds and lives stated. They all have different developments and morals throughout the book,so they aren't just random people. They have a reason for working where they do, which is a state prison. The Green Mile is told from the memory of the main character, Paul Edgecombe, as he is in his retirement home living out his last years and looking back on when he was young.

@JHARDY5 why are you typing in all caps i guess you are really passionate about books lol

I am reading 90 Miles to Havana by Enrique Flores~Galbis, i am on page 16. The author makes the characters believable by putting them trough things that would most likely actually happen to them. Like difficulties for a young boys life. Or, the awkwardness of teenagers. This is what makes the characters in my book seem so real.

jiademarco6 said...

svhernandez6 that was a good book. I like the author.

The name of my book is Infinity Ring by Carrie Ryan and I finished the book. The author make the characters believable by talking about their everyday lives and what happened in the book could happen in real life too. The only thing that might not happen is time travel. The author explains what happens and how it happens to make it seem real. She elaborates all the details and makes sure you are sucked in so you dont want to stop reading.

I am just now reading Surrounded by Sharks. It is by Michael Northrop. I am on page one. I think the author makes the characters life like by giving them emotions and the feeling to get hurt.

My book is “They Showed the Way” it is written by Charlemae Hill Rollins. I’m on page 119 in my book. How my author make the character believable is that they were real people. So there is no other way to explain it but that they were real black African Americans who led Africans Americans to what we are today. Also my book is non-fiction it has real people in it.

aafleming2 said...

rpollock2 Your book seems like something that i would read.

I am currently reading "Can't Look Away" by Donna Cooner and I'm on page 92. In my opinion the author portrays the book's main character, Torrey Grey, as believable because of the modern technology involved. In the book, Torrey is a youtuber, specifically a beauty vlogger (video blogger). This role is very common to come across nowadays everyone is on social media and content creators on youtube have become mainstream celebrities. I watch and am knowledgable on a lot of beauty bloggers or gurus on youtube like Torrey. The whole aspect of Torrey's internet presence and career is fairly believable to me because I tend to surround myself with those types of things anyways.

aafleming2 So is your book a real story or event that took place? Is it nonfiction or fiction?

The book I am currently reading is, Famous last words, by Katie Alender, and i'm on page 200. The author of my books makes the characters seem beliveable, because he puts the characters in real life situations and they handle them just like a normal person would. Like when the main character had moved to a new town and suspected that there was a suspicious killer around town, and just like any other person would do, she dug deeper, and found out facts and etc.

dtthomas1 said...

@esmith5 I would like to read that, is there a killer involed?

I am currently reading A Thunderous Whisper by Christina Diaz Gonzalez and im on page 180.In my book the author makes my character believable because she is in the time of the civil war. Also she describes the place as a death zone because of all the planes and guns shooting around her. Also her mother says she is a little whisper in a loud world this is true because she is just a little girl in the civil war and she cant do anything about it.But my character seems like a really strong girl so i think she can stand up and fight.

cnelson2 said...

@dthomas1
your book sounds really cool im looking forward to reading it!

abpugh5 said...

The book I am currently reading is No way out by Peggy Kern and I am on page 30. The author makes my character believe by adding real life situations that people go through. For example the boys mom died so he had to go stay with his grandma. Then his grandma died and he don't have nobody to stay with. Just like in real life situations.

abpugh5 said...

Sounds like a really good book @cnelson2

The book I am currently reading is "The Ranger's Apprentice" by John Flanagan which is book one in a seven book series, and I am currently on page 152. The author makes the characters believe able because the author doesn't make the characters too smart or dumb or to talented because in reality no one is perfect."...a lot more practice-you might even achieve mediocrity."(pg85). The character is basically being called below average at his current state in archery by his mentor. We don't start out with all the skill or talent we start at square one and build from there.

nlabender5 said...

esmith5
That sounds like a good book.

nlabender said...

It's a sad fact that loved ones die, and eventually all things die but that is realistic and believe able about the kids grandma and mom dying and having no one left to stay with.
