i am reading lord of the rings the two towers by j.r.r Tolkien. i am on page 274, the thing i like most about the book is the adventure. its descriptive, has illusions and is magic. the thing i don't like about the book is the fact that the book ends its an amazing book and i do not want it to end. there is no comments yet or that i can see so i`ll speak with you about it.

I am currently reading HALO THE FLOOD, I am on page 63 chapter two.
One thing i really like about the book is that it not only IS based off the game but from the perspective of a person of a person who has played the game it does a very good job of feeling like Halo, and not just some alternate story that takes place in the Halo universe. It also uses lots of elements from the game like when the author talks about the HUD set up and makes reference to the targeting reticel from the game, and even writes parts designed to look like computer text explaining technical procedures like when master cheif was being woken up from cryogenic stasis. Im sure that the book will contain manyy more refrences to the game and im excited to see whats on the way.

I am reading Peeled by Joan Bauer and I'm on page 95. The best thing I like about this book is that it is a mystery book and I love mystery. This book is special because its about a reporter and I would like to be a reporter one day(well its on my job list). The one thing that I don't like about this book is that its mainly a girl book because they talk about girl things and mainly girl characters in this book. I also like this book because the characters track people down and solve the mysteries.

Im reading "monster high." by Lisi Harrison and im on page 121.the best thing i like about this book is that ,the characters aren't human ,their monsters.such as the characters howleen, clawdla, clawd & clawdeen wolf all are siblings and they are werewolfs.also deuce gorgon son of medusa is a half human with a snake head .the part i hate about the book is the drama.their is so many problems to solve.

I finished Alliance by Mark Frost. What I love about the book is that it is AMAZING, it has people that have powers and an ancient race trying to take back earth. It made me stay up late on some nights. One thing I didn't like is that it is a little too short for me. 332 pages is not enough for me to do the papers and projects on because I want to get the next book!

@fwbougher Nice book review! I read Halo: The Flood and it was my favorite one in the series. Nice details on how it relates to the game, keep up the good work!

I am currently reading The Giver and I am on pg.100. The part I specifically like about this book is that you get a big ceremony when you turn one more year every year. The part I specifically don't really like about this book is that they pick a job for your future and you have to deal with it.

I am reading Silhouetted by the blue, I am on page 110. The author of my book is John Steptoe and Coretta Scott King. One thing I like about the book is the drama in it. Why I like it is because Serena Shaw has to take care of her brother Henry all by herself cause her father is suddenly feeling blue. One thing I don't like in the book is that the mother died on a work trip to New Orleans and never came back. The reason why I dislike that is because it is very sad to lose a mother.

@Amoskalinko5 Good Job on your blog!

@Aparker5 Great job on you blog and I have read monster high too!

I am reading the book Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins and I am currently on page 204. One thing I really enjoy about this book is that it has a lot of action. One part that has a lot of action is when Katniss first sees Petta and he attacks her in the hospital. One part that I don’t really like about my book is how there are a lot of characters. It gets kind of confusing when it talks about one person and you get them mixed up with another one.

ppI am reading “The Postcard” by Tony Abbott, I’m currently on page 170. One thing I don’t like about the book is how Jason’s dad curses at him so much, for no reason. He cursed at him for picking up a magazine to read it, I thought reading was a good thing. I guess not! One thing I do like about my book is that Jason is very curios. He went all the way across town, just to go to an abandoned church his great grandfather used to own. He is from Boston, so Florida is new to him, he had no directions he just found out where to go, and how to get there. He went to the hotel to find the second part to a story he is reading. All that trouble just for a book.

I like the conflict in the book.I like the conflict because i feel like it is very interesting. But, I do not like the fact that a friend of Darcy gave her a secret to keep and that is more stressing to Darcy. I dont like it because i dont know what will happen to Darcy in the end. Will she kill her self.

I am reading the book The Clique:Kristen by Lisi Harrison, and I am on page 107. One thing that I like about my book is the fact that its realistic fiction And the reason I like it is because I can almost relate to some of the things in my life because its a group of girls and its girls that I hang out with in a group. One thing that I don't like about my book is that the grammar is really bad and the reason For me not liking it is because they drag words out and it looks stupid.

I am currently reading Showoff by Gordon Korman and I am on page 110. One thing I do like about this book is that the two main characters are trying really hard to do something amazing for they're friend. I like this act because I would do it for one of my friends. One thing I don't like about this book is that they aren't really achieving the thing they want to do. But at least they are keeping a good attitude and they aren't giving up.

My book is don't hold their breath by Helene boudreau I just started so I am only on page number 5. From what I have read I think that the part on page one when it says tht she was mad cause the guy she had her first kiss with was not talking to her I don't like that cause she is basically revolved around boys and that is not right to me. The part that I like is when she says that she is a mermaid I like this because I like mermaids cause they are mystical and get to do what ever they want. And cause they don't have to worry about school and work and grades.

I am reading "The Ghost in the Machine" by Patrick Carmen and I am on page 140. Something I really like about my book is that it is told from the point of view from somebody my age. The book is supposed to be Ryan, the main character's, journal and thoughts on the mystery he is trying to solve. Something I really don't like about my book is because it is supposed to be in the format of a journal it is often messy and unorganized. This shows in the lists he writes of his suspects and also when he strikes through unwanted words.

skunklersulaica3 said...

amountain4 I really enjoyed that book. There were a lot of plot twists.

skunklersulaica3 said...

rcortes5 I agree. Having somebody pick the job you would have to do for the rest of your life would stink.

I'm reading The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald on page 83. The thing I like the most is the grammar used, how well written and how well used the words are, to me the writing style is one of the greatest things. One thing I don't like about it though is that it's in Nick's point of view because he's only observing, instead of rather from a person who the story is revolving around, instead of Nick who is merely observing as the story goes on, in a way it feels like I'm being told about what happened in a book by someone who's already read it.

I am finished reading Holes and since I finished it the last page was 233 and it was writing by Louis Sachar. One thing that I really like about my book was that there was a story inside a story. You have one story about Stanley Yelnates the fourth and is journey in the juvenile dentition center called Camp Green Lake. On the other story it is the origin of Kissin’ Kate Barlow and how the son of the town murdered Sam the opinion man because he and Kate Barlow kissed and everybody doesn’t like that because same is African American. The one thing that I don’t like about the book was that at the end it doesn’t really tell you what happened in between when Stanley and Zero leave Camp Green Lake. I would have liked to known where Zero’s mom was all this time.

I am reading Ghost Hawk by Susan Cooper. I'm on page 113. The thing I like most about this book is that there are many things that native American tribes really do. My least favorite thing about the book is that almost every time you think something good is going to happen, there is always a twist. An example of this is, when the main character returns home after 3 months alone in the winter woods, all of his family is dead.

I am reading The Lions of Little Rock ,and I'm on page 142.The thing I like most is the girls friendship. In the book there not supposed to be friends because, it's during segregation and could bring danger to their families. The thing I don't like is that the schools closed down. The schools closed down because people who don't like blacks ,didn't want to go to school with them. I don't think it's fair that kids aren't getting the eduation they need.

The book I am currently reading is Cinder by Marisa Meyer and I am on page 312. One thing i enjoy about my book is that there is an exciting adventure within every chapter. Cinder and I are both very adventurous and full of curiosity. However, one thing I do not enjoy about my book is the pace at which Marisa Meyer writes. Yes it is true there is an adventure in every chapter, but that is within every chapter. I like the pace of my books to be exciting with the turn of every page. I found myself bored throughout half of some chapters in the book. Other than that my book is a fabulous book.

My book is called "The Rule of THRE3"(it's supposed to be spelled like that) by Eric Walters and I'm on page 172. The genre is realistic fiction because it's placed and timed at present day America. A couple things I like is the main character is a genius, has a partner or friend, and relationship problems. A couple others is during the dystopia event which is occurring because something happened to all the electricity and computers in the U.S. so far it has only been seven days in the dark but the main character Adam who is sixteen years old is taking on a bunch of responsibility along with his mother who is a police captain and his neighbor (Herb) a 70 year old retired spy for the C.I.A. has experience with this sort of crisis i other countries. A couple things I certainly don't like is the fact a sixteen their is a lot of ways to predict what is most likely going to happen next in the story. Also the title which is mentioned in the book is only brought up one time so far.

fwbougher?: You didn't put what period you have for Mrs. Thomas and the halo series is a great game but I never read any of the books or comics it has to offer.

amoskalenko5: That is a good book series and the author is very talented in making realistic fiction with a hint of mythology involved.

I am reading " The Lions of Little Rock" it is Kristin Levine, and i'm on page 59. One thing I liked about this book is how liz and Marlee are friends in the 1950s and Liz is Black. What i like about that is that segregation is happening and and even though they are from different races they still are friends. even though her family may disapprove. And what i didn't like about the book is that in the beginning of the book that Marlee was sorta of basing liz on he skin color. And I can understand that people did that back then, but i still wasn't vey fond of that.

I am reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and I am currently on page 106. The things I like most about my book is the adventure!! I think the challenges Katniss has faced since the first book is absolutely AMAZING! I also love the suspense and the decisions Katniss must make. The thing I don’t like about the book is some of the violence. For example the page I just finished reading is when Gale is tied to a wooden pole being whipped, with his back nothing but a bloody slab of meat! But overall I’m absolutely loving this book and can’t wait to see what happens next!!

I am now reading Brothers In Arms the author is Paul Langan & Ben Alirez and I am on page 78. I like this book because it has a good meaning and it is a realistic fiction cause it tells what can happen in everyday life. This book has a series called the “The BluFord Series”. All there books have a good meaning and it makes you think if this could happen in real life. I really am enjoying my book and I do not have any thing I don’t like about it. It shows a real look on what can happen on a day to day bases in peoples life. And it seems so real like if it did really happen before.

I am reading Starters by Lisa Price and I am on page 205. One thing I really like about my book is that Callie finds out that her renter is planning on killing the senator and Callie doesn’t want to have to kill him but she doesn’t like him either. That makes it really hard for her to find a different way to stop him without killing him. One thing that I don’t like about my book is that the renters are not that secretive about being renters. They are not supposed to be telling anyone that secret, yet when they think you’re a renter too, they will give a lot of hints or they will flat out say it.

I have completely finished the book "House of Dark Shadows" by Robert Liparulo. I have enjoyed the mystery and intense moments that make you want to read more and more. I have always liked the mystery books, and learning the way the plot is solved in the end. One thing i did not like in this book was the beginning page. In the very beginning of the book, it was a scene where a woman was being kidnapped by a dark figure, then it started the story. I was very confused until i got to the very END of the book. Not the best strategy in my opinion. Overall, not many complaints about the book.

I'm currently reading The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, and I'm currently on page 150. The one thing I really liked about the book is the fact that it has many mysterious adventures that the characters go on, like the time a gang of bullies were going to beat Junior up, but then his best friend Rowdy came and saved him. The one thing I don't like about it is that it has a lot of sad parts in it, like the time Junior's dog died because they can't afford the right medicine to cure him.

I have completed reading "Haunted" by Kirsten and P.C. cast. It is the 5th of of the "House of Night novel" series. The thing I like most about this book is that it isn't like most vampyre books. They add different cultures and traditions to the book. There is also lots of magic in it. It isn't anything about vampyres trying to go around and drink people blood. I really like how they put reasoning behind everything that happens, too. For example, The reason Zoey Redbird is the only one of friends who has trouble fighting the attraction to the dark fallen angel is because she is a reincarnation of a woman named A-ya who was created by Cherokee people to love him and trap him in the earth. The "House of Night novel" series is a really good series. I love how they make it interesting and exciting to keep young adults interested and in it, but they also add science an culture to it. I am currently moving on to the next book in the series titled "Tempted".

But one thing I don’t like about my book is that it was too short.

I am reading ‘How My Journal Became a Bestseller’ by Julia Devillers and I am on page 157. The one thing that I really liked about this book is when Jamie became a best author of the year. First she was very surprised, but the way she gets use to it was really interesting. She went to the after- parties with celebrities, having interviews and have opportunities to be on the TV. However the one thing that I didn’t like is the conflicts between the characters. Especially the way Jamie and her friends tried to avoid the mean girls made me angry because the mean girls teased them a lot.

I am currently reading SilverFin by Charlie Higson and I am on page 193. One thing I like about this book is that it has action and mystery in it. The reason why I like action and mystery is because it makes you want to keep reading. One thing I don't like about the book is that George's dad (George and his dad are the antagonists) keeps yelling at George if he does not do manly things. George's dad is all about him being a "man". I hope he "mans" up to his dad.

Also I love the way there is always suspense at the end of the chapter that makes you want to read more. The one thing that I don't like about the book is that it needs more action. It has action but I think I would l like the book even more if it has more action. Example Day, country's most wanted criminal but it doesn't really say much about his crimes but still I'm pretty happy with the book as it is.

What I dont like about my book is that it is from a series that I was reading ,but its just an alternate version of the first books just from a different point of view where It took more time to get in to the action. In Ender's game I was into the action by 30 pages ,but for this book it took 230 pages. One more thing i dont like about this book is that it is 469 pages while the others were like 175 - 210

Currently I am reading “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” by J. K. Rowling and I am on page number 199, I had just started reading the book last night. One thing I like most about this wonderful book is that Harry starts off in the beginning of the book already with some excitement and suspense. “Something had happened to the night. The star-strewn indigo sky was suddenly pitch-black and lightless – the stars, the moon, the misty streetlamps at either side of the alley had vanished….” (Page 16) As some people can already tell, if they had been reading the Harry Potter books up until the fifth one, they would now that something strange, even remarkable, was going to happen to our dear Harry Potter. That is why I absolutely love the Harry Potter books and universe because if you are Harry Potter or a close friend, or even if you are just near him at the time of something happening, your life will not be a very boring one. Though I do not really know of a thing I hate, I would have to say that I respect Malfoy’s hatred towards Harry because in the first book Malfoy tried to be Harry’s friend but Harry didn’t care much. I would have liked it more if Harry had more of a friendship over the years with Malfoy instead of just despising him. Although in the epilogue of the last book Harry doesn’t really care about Malfoy but Ron still hates the man. But I can also see why everyone hates Malfoy because of his rudeness. “A short distance away, Draco Malfoy, followed by a small gang of cronies including Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy Parkinson, was pushing some timid-looking second years out of the way so that they could get a coach to themselves.” (Page 197)

@csweinberg6 you forgot to capitalize quite a few things...

@SHenderson4 I always enjoy reading your blogs, they are really good.

I am reading Charlie and the chocolate factory by Roald Dahl and I am on page 90.
One thing I like about this book is it's about chocolate and candy. I really like chocolate and candy. It's sweet and delicious I love it. In the book there are a lot of kind of chocolate and candy.I really want to try it.The thing I don't like about my book is that Charlie is poor.If Charlie was not poor he could eat a lot of food and stuff. So he shares and shares. When he got the golden ticket I was so happy It could be the chance that can get a lot of food!.On page 20 Willy Wonka said "Then, at the end of the tour,as a special present, all of them ( 5 people who has the golden ticket) will be given enough chocolates and candies to last them for the rest of their lives!" So I thought like that.

@fwbougher good details.
@ nacrawford6 good job.

I am currently reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and I am on page 440. The entire book is absolutely amazing, one of the best books I have ever read, and I love almost everything about it. One of my favorite parts about it, though, would probably be the struggles the main character goes through, like his adaption to living on the streets of a large city. The struggles make the book so much more interesting, and keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book. My least favorite part of the book, which was a very hard decision to make, would probably be the fact that it is its own world. This is a good thing for the most part, but things that should be simple, like names of the days of the week and months or the worth and names of money, are changed, making some concepts difficult to understand. Other than those few things, which are quite petty issues, the book is just amazing.

SHenderson4: Great post and your book sounds very interesting.

BHastings3: Great post, your book seems like it's really suspenseful.

I am reading the running dream by Wendelin Van Draaren, and I am currently on page 152. One thing I like most about the book is the friends. All of Jessica's (main chacter) in the story are very supportive of what happened to her leg. They are all there for Jessica. Something I don't really like about the book is how much they talk about the sister. In the book Jessica has a slightly younger sister who has really only appeared in the book around 3 times.

I am currently reading The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and I am on page 76. Even though I just started reading this book, I already love it. One thing I like about the book is the main character, Hazel Grace. I love her personality and the way she is so relaxed. One thing I dislike is that she has tyroid cancer. I would've liked to see her healthy because it would have made the book more happy. I recommend this book to everyone that hasn't read it already!

I am reading May Bird Among the Stars by Jodi Lynn Anderson and I'm on page 58.What I like most about this book is that this is the book that I've been looking for because I love paranormal things mixed with a little friendship romance among one ghost. But, the one thing that I don't like about this is that the series has to end on the second book, which is the book that I'm reading because I was really looking forward for this series to have at least 4 books. But a great story has to end some time, no matter how great it really is. I will enjoy the story while it lasts!

I am currently on page 104, on the book "Almost Home" by Joan Bauer. One specific thing that I really like about the book is that it has some really funny parts but it also has some sad parts. An example is "Shush lifts his leg and pees on the mans shoe— he deserves it, in my opinion." Also Reba the mom says that her friend Evie Said they could stay with her in Chicago but later we find out that she was lying. One specific thing I don't like about the book is that they made Reba turn kinda bad and in the beginning they made her sound really nice.

The book that I am reading is called “Lost in the river of grass” by Ginny Rorby and I just finished the book. One specific thing I like about this book is whenever Sarah and Andy encounter an alligator or a snake, it makes the book interesting and it makes me want to keep reading. Or when they saw an airboat near them they had to be sneaky so they wouldn’t get caught. One thing that I don’t like about the book is that there are only two main characters in the book. If there were more than two characters in the book I think it would have been a lot better.

I am reading The Last Apprentice Curse of the bane by Joseph Delaney and I am on page 71. One thing I really like about my book is the journeys the spook and Thomas go on. I like the little conversations they have and I'm not sure why, they are just written so well. One thing I don't like is the character Alice. She isn't funny or interesting or anything, she just brings the book down and I found myself wanting to skip the parts when she was in the story.

I'm reading Smiles to Go by Jerry Spinelli, and I'm on page 215. So far I've enjoyed this because of its realistic teenage story. I feel like it's a story that I can get more into because it's a story that I could see happening in mine or a friends life, family emergencys, crushes, and friendship issues. One thing I haven't really enjoyed is at times the story can become slow and eventless. Although the issue always seems to be changed when big events occur, there are moments where the story can be slow. Moments like before his chess tournament nothing really happens but the tournament provided a big twist when Will's sister had her emergency.

I am reading Heat by Mike Lupica and I am on page 156. The thing I most like about the book is that it is very realistic as in the choices a twelve year old kid in the book are the some of the same decisions I would have made. I also like how there is a baseball factor in the book which I can relate to very well. The things I dislike about the book are that it isn't always descriptive enough in certain situations. The book on my beliefs are amazing.

I am reading Nightmarys by Dan Poblocki and I am on page 162. The one thing I like about my book is that is it scary and mysterious and I like those kinds of books. I like them because that interest me and make me get me scared: which I like. A thing I don't like about my book is that it is not all on section it is broken up in to like mini books which is kind of distracting and annoying. Also it is confusing because it will go from one story to another which then you can get confused.

cfuentes4 said...

I am currently reading The Land of The Sliver Apples by Nancy Farmer and I am on page 255. One thing that I love about my book is how the main character (named Jack) handles all the responsibility and high stress situations with ease and grace. The thing i don't really like about my book though is that, since Jack has soooo much responsibility (including stoping the end of the world) he's not a very relatable character. Even though he's not very relatable he's a very cool hero.

One thing I do no not like about the book is that the book gets boring in some parts and it stays on the same topic.

I am currently reading “Between the Lines” by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer. I’m on pages 137 of 352. I like this book because it’s talking about a teenage girl reading a fairy tale but the book comes to life. The characters start moving and talking o n the page. I love this because it’s like having a TV in the book. I don’t like that the book has 2 different narrators and then the actual story. The narrators are Delilah and Oliver. Then the actual book happens as well. I don’t like this because it just gets me confused a little bit, but the overall book is unique and I like it a lot.

I am currently reading Scat by Carl Hiaasen, I am on page 92.
What I like about my book is the fact that there is multiple characters and it bounces back and fourth throughout the story between them. The characters in the book are easy to relate to because they're of similar age and interests.
So far in this book there is nothing I have found that I do not enjoy. I feel a connection with the characters, geography, and the story. If there is one thing I don't like its that I don't read enough each night.

And they get to travel places. The thing's I don't like about the book is they have to risks there lives to get the supernatural things out the house or place. I'm currently reading All the Lovely Bad Ones by Mary Downing Hahn I'm on page 116. One specific thing I like about my book is how it's really mysterious. I love how it's really mysterious because it sets the mood of the book, there's a twist, or something unexpected. Which draws you to the book even more leaving even more excitement. But one specific thing i don't like about this book is how it's not very/extremely detailed. I don't like hoe it's not very detailed because it doesn't make it all that scary, it's scary just not having you off the edge of your seat or something scary and it just makes it seem like another paranormal book and not one that stands out or one that you would want to reread over and over again.

I don’t like it because the Murphy's have actually treated her well with care, unlike her mom who has gotten some of her clothes from the dump.

He is the bully in the book. Troy and Jamie made a bet about who would win a football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Falcons. If the Falcons won then Troy would get a signed football. If Jamie won then he would get a Falcons football. But when Troy lost and couldn't get Jamie the football in time Jamie said, "The last goober that welched on me got bumped around in the hallways pretty good," Jamie said, smirking. One thing I don't enjoy about my book is how the jokes that are written in the book aren't actually that funny they are more bland. But, I guess thetas just my perspective.
