Blog #1 Due: Tuesday 9/4/12

Take a few minutes and look back at last years blog questions and comments.
Pick at least one response that you think is a good example of how to correctly answer the blog.  List the Blog # and the username and why you think it is a good example of how to get an 'A' on your blog each week.  Also, pick out at least one example of what not to do when answering the blog.  List the Blog # and username and why it is an example of how not to get an  'A' on your blog each week.
Lastly, let us know if you are excited about using the blog or are nervous about it and why.
Do not forget to comment on at least 2 other responses.

kflanagan6 Blog #6

I really think she/he deserved a 100%! Her post was full of details and she really got some good info in their.

msimons6 Blog #6

I didnt like this one because some of the sentences didnt really make that much sense. She also did not give that many specific deatils.

I am actually VERY excited for the blog this year. Ive never really experienced with a blog and i have a feeling that its going to be a good experience for me. I love computers! :D

On blog number 13 bferguson2 is a good example of a blog. The reason this was a good example because it had 5 sentences and everything was spelled correctly. On blog number 14 dgillespie5 is a bad example on a blog because he/she only had 4 sentences. The reason that is a bad example of a blog is because if it is only 4 sentences then you don’t get a 100% on your blog. I am very excited and a little nervous because I would like to make a 100% on my blog each week and if I don’t have 5 sentences or miss spell things, then I get a lower grade. The reason I’m excited is because it is something new for me.

Blog #10: CGreek Response,

CGreeks response to the question is a good example because of how he made sure that it was five sentences and also grammatically correct.

Blog #10:AWashington2 Response,

AWashingtons response was a perfect candidate of how not to get an A on a blog. That is because he/she did not capitalize his I's as well as merging I and am. He also made his sentences to short...

I am very excited to use this blog because it is a new experience. I have really loved to technology and I love trying new things! ^_^

This is blog #1 and my username JDalluge2.I believe this is good for the blogs because people can know who is typing the blog. When answering a blog NEVER type less than 5 sentences. It is not a good idea to forget you blog # and your username because you wont be able to write the blogs.Lastly,I am excited for the blogs to start because I want to see how it is.

On Blog number 13 awilson2 was a good example of a blog because she gave specific details about the main character, Darcy. She explains what the character would do in situations like what she would pack in her suitcase and explains why. She gives enough details for us to know who the character is, in this case, she is a very fun bubbly person who loves candy. She tells how good of a student she is by saying what grades she gets which were straight A’s. I love how awilson2 made a great example for a blog because she gave specific details about the main character to make the book seem fun to read. A bad thing about this blog post is she doesn’t tell us about the book and what it’s mainly about of what she’s read so far, but overall this is a really good post! i'm very excited because it's something I have'nt done before and it this is also something im very nervous about because I have to be careful about spelling and grammar which I don't normally do because I don't blog on a regular basis, but I can't wait to start my blog!

kkey2 said...

Jfox5 on blog #12 Did a good job at explaning the book.He did a good job because he put all the details about the book.

ezuy6 on blog #11 he/she did not to such a terrific job. he did not complete all his sentences.

This is a good exprience, because computers are amazing andyou can learn more things.<3

sfreer2 said...

bferguson2 i liked the post u made cause of how much details u but in it. it was also very specific and elabrote.

ejones6 i didnt really like your post cause it wasnt really detailed. it was to short and not full 5 sentences

im really excited to be doing the blog myself in couple of days :)

rgatlin2 said...

@dhileman6
On Blog#10 I think your post was a good example because it has good grammar and stays on topic.
@drumore2
On Blog#10 I think your post wasn't as good of an example as it could've been. You incorrectly spelled the word "I."
I am actually somewhat nervous about the blog this year. I've never done a blog and I feel like someone is going to laugh at my comments.

JDalluge2 said...

ADavis2 I like your comment is is very good.I'm excited for the blogs to start too.Hopefully we will get A's in the blogs.

asantacroce2 said...

jphan2,

i agree with your post :)

LMiller2 said...

ejones6 ejones6 on blog #10 is a good example of how to get an A

He had good grammar, stayed on topic, and he explained thoroughly.

mmcclendon5 on blog #11 is a bad way to get an a.
because its only four sentences and he/she did not capitalize "i" or the beging of his sentances.

i dont not want to do a blog because its new to me im bad at it and its hard. :(

jphan2 said...

asantacroce2, i agree with your post too! plus it had 5 sentences

JDalluge2 said...

sfreer2 your blog is actually very good because you commented on two other posts. And you posted what you needed to do.I hoe you get an A in this blog.

arockett2 said...

tkeatley4 on the blog #2

did a really good at explaning about the book that he read the book Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary" by Brandon Mull. and when he explaned about the book he gave enough information. its enough to not tell to ruin the book.

tfowler3 on blog #14

didnt tell a conflict and he list a book that doesnt even have a conflict. also he jus said they were beating recors and that had nothing to do with the wuestions that was asked of them to answer.

LMiller2 said...

@sfreer you should whatch your grammar :)

rgatlin2 said...

@sfreer2 Check your grammar.
@kkey2 Very good post.

Nhutto2 said...

Dgillespie’s comment on Blog #12 is a good example of an “A” response because they include specific details about how the main character in their book experienced pain and agony, just as a real life human would. Abeatty’s comment on Blog #10 is not a good example of an “A” response because it is not written in complete sentences and there are many grammar and spelling mistakes. As for my feelings about using the blog, I’m pretty neutral. I guess I’m more leaning toward excitement because it is easy to use and I can get to know my classmates by finding out what they like to read.

EPata2 said...

ADavis2,

Good point adam! Btw thanks for pinching me...

smwilliams2 said...

On blog #14 drumore2 correctly answered the blog by telling us his favorite part of reading class. He also had great grammar. A bad example of responding to a blog is on blog #12 , mmcclendon5 did not put capitals and did not meet the sentence requirements. I am very excited to use the blogs because the past two years I had to write my reading logs on paper. I am also excited because I can use the computer and I love the computer.

sedwards2 said...

Snetherland5 on blog #13 is a good example because the paragraph has all 5 sentences and gives lots of details and it seems like he or she knows what they’re talking about not just putting down anything. Also they make the character believable and very interesting. Jfox5 is not a good example because there are not 5 sentences on the paragraph and he or she didn’t put enough effort into it. I think they could have did better. Lastly I’m excited about doing the blog because it seems interesting and fun, It also seems better than just doing a reading log I think I’m going to like the blog more when I get use to it .

jclark2 said...

A good example to get an “A” on a blog every week is dgillespie5 on blog #12 is an good example because they used good details on how the author made the character believable and they and five sentences. A bad example to not get an “A” every week on a blog is jfox5 on blog #12 is a bad example because first of all they didn’t have five sentences to begin with and they didn’t have enough details to how they author made the characters believable .I’m excited about doing blog this year because I didn’t do blog last year and it seems fun to do every week and an easy “A” for homework.

ahutto5 said...

I belive a woderful example of a good blog is dgillespie5's blog on blog #11.I thought it was a great blog because it was detailed and was at least five sentences.A bad example of a blog is mwilliams6's blog on blog 11.It's a poor example of a blog because it was only three sentences, the grammar was incorrect, and it did not give enough detail.I'm excited about doing a class blog this year because reading is one of my favorie things to do.

ttaylor5 said...

a good example of a good blog was rjacob five because he wrote 5 lines and explained really well and a bad blog was was tfowler3 on blog 14 because itt was not explained that well and had nothing to do with the question

ssorgi5 said...

On blog 12 Iwooley5 did a good job answering the question thoroughly with many details and made it 5 sentences. Astephens5 made her sentences very short on blog 13 and made what should have been one sentence, two. I am very excited about the blog because I’ve already done this. It is very easy to keep up with and takes very little time unless you have to lie about your book………. I feel very confident doing this blog again.

dsmith5 said...

A good blog post would be from mwilliams6 on blog post #5. The reason being is that she wrote five sentences with description. A bad one would be awilson2 because they put a smiley face on their comment. That wouldn't be great punctuation. And I'm very excited because this is new for me. I'm looking forward to this year.

dsmith5 said...

Great Scot ! Remember "Whyyyyyyy" ?

GPena5 said...

JDale2 is a good example of a post on blog number 7. It is more than five sentences, the grammar is correct, the punctuation is correct as well.
metroidman97 is a bad example of a response to blog number 7. It has no punctuation whatsoever, and it is only four sentences long.
I am excited on using the blogs because I love to type and I don’t mind if other people are reading my writing.

BCampbell5 said...

Mrs. A Thomas on blog #1 is a good example. She has five or more sentences, the grammar is correct, and she says why she likes and dislikes the genres.
amonari2 on blog #1 is a bad example. Because that person didn’t write all five sentences correctly.
I am excited to use the blog because I would rather type than write and the other classmates can help me by commenting.

gparent5 said...

What to do:
bhoffmann2 blog # 7
I think this is a great example because its very descriptive. It also helps you understand the main character Harry Potter. It describes why he would want to go to the place that bhoffmann2 chooses. And it also answers the question mrs.athomas asked.
What NOT to do:
awashington2 on blog #7
I think this is a great example of what NOT to do. First off he does not have five sentences. Second it is not descriptive. Third it doesn’t really answer the question mrs.athomas asked. And last the blogger seems really unsure of her response to the question.

Dbenjamin6 blog # 14

I really think this person deserves an “A” because I think they put full effort into their response. They also had everything they needed in their blog with good details.

Tgarrison2 blog # 12
I don’t think this person did a good job. They didn’t explain very well and they only had 4 sentences. They also we incorrect about their books plot.

I’m pretty excited about the blog this year but also nervous. I have experience with blogs but I’m nervous I might not good a good grade but hopefully I will.

BCampbell5 said...

I am really excited about doing a blog instead of a reading log. It seems more fun, and its good to get to respond to other blogs so that the class can interact together. also you dont have to have a parent signature. it is good that it is an online thing so that you dont have extra reading logs that you might accidentally loose. in all i am very excited about the blogs.

ssuskin5 said...

Dhileman6 Blog # 14
Dhileman6 has a good example of an “A” response because they have good details and follow the Blog requirements. They have 5 sentences, Good detail, and they answer the question correctly.
metroidman97 (chunt6) Blog # 12
Metroidman97(chunt6) Has a bad example of an “A” response because they don’t answer the question the teacher ask. They used unnecessary exclamation, they did not focus on the question and told about what they thought the book was going to be like.
I am excited for the Blog this year. I have never done anything like this before and I think It will be a fun experience.

I like dwalker4 on blog #1 the best because it is very descriptive. I also like his post because it uses a lot of expression with the capitalization. Another reason why I like dwalker4 post is that he spreads his reason why he like fantasy in a whole paragraph.
It was hard to fine one I didn’t like because there are all good. But I don’t like this one because they don’t know how to spell funny.
I am excited because I have never used a blog before

Jhouston6 made a good post under blog 14 on May 28, 2012. They did a good job always using proper grammar and followed the guidelines. Hpeel2 did not do such a good job on blog six on February 28, 2012. They kept misspelling and not capitalizing. They could have done a lot better.

kcarnes5 said...

Dhileman6 blog #14 is a great example of how to get an a because his typing look like he really got into that book that he was reading

zotto5 said...

dgillespie5 Blog #12
Dgillspie5 gave a good example on how to get an “A”. They gave a lot of details to support their response. They also used correct grammar, spelling and capitalization. They also gave the correct amount of sentences.

cgreek5 Blog #1
Cgreek5 is an example of what not to do. They didn’t use many supporting details. Their answer was also only three sentences, not five or more. They also had a couple of capitalization mistakes.

I am nervous about using the blog. I don’t really like for people to see what I write.

smeadows6 said...

Lwooley5 did a good blog because she typed five sentences and elaborated on her description of the book. Jmyrick2 didn’t do such a good job on their blog because he didn’t type five sentences and he didn’t elaborate enough on the blog. I think that blog is a good way to do a book log because it keeps you more organized. I’m kind of nervous because I might forget how to get into the blog or I might not get a good grade on it because it’s really new to me. But it is a really creative was to do homework.

wperkins6 said...

nmongo2 blog 12 Did a good job because he used 5 complete sentences and stayed on topic.
metroidman97(chunt6) blog 12 Did a bad job because he did not capitalize his I’s or did not capitalize the letter at the beginning of the sentence.
I am excited about using the blog because it is easier than having to do reading logs. The blogs are a way of seeing what other peers have to say on a book. Getting used to it will take time but in the end I like it.

Tcole6 said...

Dgillespie5 #12 I thought he had a good blog because he has 5 sentences and good grammar. It also shows that they actually read the book and aren’t just posting something random.

Zphillips5 is a bad example because it’s not 5 sentences long and no capital letters. And doesn’t show if they read the book or not. And if there no just making something up.

smeadows6 said...

mquinn6 said...

Nmongo2 blog 12 did a good job he used complete sentences great but the right marks such as quotation, and periods.
Metroidman97 blog 12 did a bad job because he comment was way off topic he was talking about twilight when the book is about a ww2 polish boy and a German kid
I am kind of nervous and excited about the blog because it is a new experience and a new way to do a reading class than a cliché reading log. It would be cool to see what my fellow classmate have to say on a book they are reading. But I hope none comments on my blogs. But I think I will get used to the new way us doing

tdaigle6 said...

Lwooley5 did a good blog because she was specific and elaborate.
Pmoreau05 did a bad blog because they weren’t specific and tell what page there on. And didn’t describe he book very well.
I think doing a book blog is a good idea because it keeps you organized. Another reason why is because you don’t have to worry about your papers ripping or crumbling. The best reason why is because you can type a lot faster than you can write, if you focus.

Blog #12 AStephens5 I think would be a good example of how you should answer a blog because she gave examples and used five sentences like she or he was supposed to.

For blog #13 abeatty5 to me was a bad example because he could have used better detail to explain what they would have pack for a vacation, and they only had four sentences.

rhale6 said...

Blog #13 dhileman6 was a good because they shared everything they were required to type and were very detailed with the description.
Blog #13 abeatty5 was not so very good on the blog because they didn’t do everything they are supposed to write and weren’t detailed or at least explained it well.
I’m excited to do this blog because it’s more interesting and easier than the reading logs we had to do last year in seventh grade.

Ejones6’s response to blog 10 is a good example of how to respond to the blog because he or she uses all the sentences required and ejones6 uses good grammar and spelling to respond to the question.
Jdennis5’s response to blog 10 is a bad example of how to respond to the blog because although he or she uses all the required sentences, there are grammatical and spelling errors meaning jdennis5 did not check over his or her work. I am very nervous about the blog because I am worried I will become one of next years bad examples. However, I am also excited about the blog because this means I can type about where I am and what is happening in my book and I dont have to write as much. I like the idea of getting to type my responses rather than writing them because I am a very slow and poor typist and I hope to improve.

ejones6 on blog 13
I think they gave a bad blog because they said exactly what not to say they had about 3 sentences there response and they said a tooth brush because he needs to brush his teeth that is what not to do said Mrs. Thomas
Lastly I am kind of nervous because I don’t like for people to read what I put

What to do on a blog:
Amanibusan6 on blog 6
I think this blog is great because of their great punctuation, great capitalization, and he/she followed the rules. They put commas where they need to be and the periods, exclamation, etc. They capitalized all the important names that needed to be capitalized. They did everything that they needed to do. They also put an exclamation mark at the end which made me think the reader thought the book so far was really good.
What not to do on a blog:
msimons6 on blog 6
I think this blog was NOT a good example because of their lack of punctuation, number of sentences, and short sentences. They did not put commas where they should’ve been in his/her sentences. They only had 4 sentences instead of 5. The sentences were very short and it seems like they didn’t put a lot of effort into their blog.

On blog #9 I think that rjacobs2 blog response wasn't the most correct way to get an A on the blog. I say this because rjacobs2 had some grammar errors and some of the sentences were a little unclear to me. I strongly believe that on blog# 13 bferguson2 was the most correct way to get an A on the blog because to me her sentences were very descriptive and clear. She also answered the question very well. Even if you didn't read the Hunger Games you could get an idea on who the main character is. I am actually excited for the blog. It is new to me and I think it will be interesting to do.

sedwards2 i read Jfox5 blog and you are right she didn’t seem to put that much effort into it good job.

Cgreek5 in blog fourteen did a good job because they had five sentences and had good explanations. He also had periods and every sentence was capitalized. Jdewitt6 was not a good example because they spelled for without the r. Then they also put pick and a together, so that’s why this is a bad example. I am excited for the blog because it’s a way to get better at using the computer.

Blog#14 amandas2,
This person gave good examples on their faviorte parts of reading class that year. Amandas2 had good and bad thing he/she did or didnt like. Amandas2 had 5 sentences and everything was spelled correctly.

Blog#14 Ntburke5,
I feel like this person didnt make much sense in their sentences. Some of them didnt seem as much details they could have put in their comment.

I am really exicted for this year with the blogs!!!:D

After reading the last years blogs, I think the best answer to get an "A" and the answer to get an "F" are both on blog #14. ejones6 answered the question you posted completely with useful information. I wouldn't have had to read the question to know what they were talking about. awashington2 didn't make sense and wasn't complete. But at least reading back on last years blogs made me look forward to the class! It sounds like fun!

rgatli2 I agree with rgatlin2 that I am a little nervous about this blog thing!

tnichola6 I agree with tnichola6, I am not the best/fastest reader and 2 books every nine weeks makes me nervous.

On blog 14 npegg2 had a good comment because he used correct grammar and punctuation. He answered the question. On blog 14 jdale2 had a bad comment because she was kind of rude to the person she was replying to. She also talked in all caps. I’m excited to use the blog because it’s easier than normal reading logs I’ve had in the past. I’ve never used a blog before so it’s new to me.

BCampbell5, I'd hope Mrs. Thomas had a good comment.

HRivera2 In blog # 4 AStephens5 did a good job explaining what her book was about and she made it sound like it was an interesting book to read.In blog # 4 bbedell6’s had a bad example of a blog because it is poorly written. The student misspelled a lot of words and the sentences did not make since. I am exited about using the blog because its way easier than using reading logs

@jphan Nice job on your post. The post is nice and long.

bferguson2 is a good example because she said the book name , the author and the main point of the book that is why she is a good example.

Cheyrich2 is a bad example because they did not tell you enough info and forgot the page number.

And I’m not excited about doing these blogs because I dolt like telling everyone about stuff.

smwilliams2 - I agree with your comments about the blogs.

bcampbell5 - I agree with typing instead of writing.

kflanagan6 Blog #6

I think she gave alot of effort in her blog post. Her post is a good example for an 'A' blog.

msimons6 Blog #6

Her blog wasnt my favorite. Her explanations didnt come clear. It was hard to understand her blog. She lacked good detail. Her blog i think isnt a good example of an 'A' blog.

I think this blog for the year will be good for me. Ive never used a blog so this will be interesting.I'm sure to have lots of fun with it.

Blog #14 tfried2 was good because they did a great job on describing why they liked the book. Also, they had the appropriate amount of sentences. Finally, they had no grammar mistakes.
Blog #14 rjacobs2 was not very good because they didn't write anything that matched the subject. Also, they didn't use a period and misspelled a few words.
I am excited about the blog because I'm tired of reading logs and this seems more fun.

llambert6 said...

There is a guy named Dhileman6 who did a good job on his blog. He made three sections.Title, pages, and auther. He put a collen behind each of those. Then he did his summery of his book.

Cwilliams5 said...

There is this person whos name is Dhileman6 and i belive he did a good job on his report. he had to write what his book was about. Not only did he write a summery of his his book. He included sections, like Title:, Auther:, and pages:.He also included his five sentences.

dblair6 said...

Astephens 5 May 7, 2012 1:58 PM IN this post this person uses really good detail to describe a lot about the book but not give a lot away. Also this persons posts has great vocab which makes it sound a lot better because it gives more flavor and makes the story pop more. Things she could of improved or fixed are. Towards the end her sentences start making no sense and it could confuse a reader. Last but not least she says that the book has aspects of a fantasy list on.

dblair6 said...

sfreer2 im exited to and great point

kflanagan blog #4.

I think she deserved an A because she specifically talked about each part of the question.

aneal2 blog #1.

I think this person did not do a complete job because he/she did not respond to all questions.

The best way to get an A on the blog is to answer all the questions using details and typing 5 sentences, and responding to other's.

bfergunson Blog #7

I really think she did a really good job explaing her book, "The Boy in the Stripe Pajamas". HS etold the characters and told the plot and gave a good amount of information.

ebayer6 blog #5

I didnt like this one becaus eshe didnt really give good details on the book. Also she spelled some words wrong. And she didnt give good enough facts fro the readers to understand what she was telling about her book.

I am actually very excited to start our blogs because we get to learn about other peoples books! And I like this better than doing reading logs every thursday. (:

TFried2 on blog #7
Is a good example of what to do because he puts a lot of details
And is very descriptive.
ZPhillips5 on blog #8
Is a bad example because he do not add a lot of details
And also have a short paragraph
Also, I am kinda excited about doing blogs
Because I am always on computers.
