I liked when we read A Day No Pigs Would Die. I think the pig was cute, and the ending was sad but it made the book good. And when we read The Lottery, because it was creepy. Next year you should give the person who wins the lottery A's for every blog.

dhileman6 said...

My favorite part of the year was A Day No Pigs Would Die. One reason is that it was the only class book we read. Second is that it was a good read. My least favorite part of the year is the Poetry section (not the Shakespear unit... yet). Poetry is my weak spot in Language Arts/ Reading, I'm not the creative type.

cgreek5 said...

I liked when we got to hang out in your classroom. I also liked A day No Pigs Would Die because it kind of reminds me of my time in the country. You are one of the nicest teachers in Fort Clarke. Honestly I didn't like the shakespear unit because it was boring. Maybe you could get newer versions of the plays. Or you could replace that with the book called Where The Red Fern Grows.

cgreek5 said...

tfried2,
I also liked A Day No Pigs Would Die because it was interesting.

My favorite part of reading class this year was at the beginning of the Shakespeare unit. I enjoyed the Play map and Titania's speech. I loved being able to make song lyrics (that were actually quite helpful) to go along with the play map. My least favorite part of reading class was the poetry unit. I did not like having to act out our poems after analyzing them, and as everybody knows, my group didn't do too hot.

amandas2 said...

tfried2;
i dont remember most of that book, what happened in the end?

amandas2 said...

dhileman6;
poetry is my weak spot too

My favorite part of reading class was on my first day, I'm not sure what unit that was. I also liked the Shakespear unit. When we watched the movie was really funny. My least favorite part of Reading class was the poetry unit. My suggestion for next year is to NOT DO A POETRY UNIT.

rjacobs2 said...

amandas2,

We definately didn't do good

I loved everything about this year. The only part I don't like is having to leave. I've learned so much this year and had fun while doing it. I liked all of the units, and I think you should do the same ones next year. I'm going to miss everything about this year. merp.

kflanagan6 said...

tfried2
I loved that book to.

kflanagan6 said...

amandas2
I thought that the songs lyrics were helpful too.

To be honest, my least favorite part of this class was the beginning of the year, when we were handed back all those papers! With all of my special classmates, it’s never a disappointing day! My favorite part of this class has to be the part that we’re in now, because I think Shakespeare is fun to read, watch, and perform! I mean, it’s going to be hilarious watching the acts! I think that it would’ve been better if we started the Shakespeare unit earlier, so we wouldn’t have to rush through it!

Amanibusan6 said...

Kflanagan6:
I agree with you!! It’s going to be heartbreaking leaving everything behind!

Amanibusan6 said...

Dhileman6:
Oh I didn’t even think about that part! I loved A Day No Pigs Would Die! That was a fun read!

tfried2 said...

@amandas2 in the end the pig and the dad died.

dbenjamin6 said...

My favorite part of the class was hanging out with everyone and feeling like a family. I also liked when we would race around the classroom and had to put up the sticky notes with vocab words on them. My least favorite part was the poetry because personally i am not a big fan of it. I don't really see how you could improve that because everyone has different perspectives about poetry. I am also going to hate leaving. This has been one of my favorite classes all yaer!!!!

dbenjamin6 said...

tfried2, I also enjoyed A Day No Pigs Would Die. It was a very interesting.

dbenjamin6 said...

kflanagan6, I agree with you leaving is going to be the hardest part. In Mrs.Thomas's class I felt like I was more apart of a family than a classroom full of students!!!!!!

Khaldeman2 said...

My Favorite part of reading class this year has been reading A Day No Pigs Would Die because of how addicting and page turning it is. I also liked doing character e-mails and glogsters for the mini projects because we got a chance to express our creativity. My least favorite part of reading class was analyzing the poems, because everyone has different ideas on what the poem might mean and it can get really confusing. Other then that Reading class has been absolutely terrific and you shouldn't change a thing. I'm going to miss being in you class next year!

Khaldeman2 said...

dbenjamin6, I agree with you that was fun running around with the sticky notes, and it really helped learn the words.

Khaldeman2 said...

amandas2,I agree with you, the song lyrics everyone made really helped with the play map quiz.

AStephens5 said...

My favorite thing we did this year was the poem plays and learning about Midsummers night dream. I enjoyed performing in front of the class and just having fun, while working. I really enjoyed making the lyrics for the character map and memorizing Titania's speech. The thing I liked least about this year was reading stories from the blue book. Next year I think your class should read actual novels instead of stories from that book, they were very boring. This year, overall, was exciting and I'm going to miss middle school a lot.

AStephens5 said...

tfried2:
I agree with you!

AStephens5 said...

astine2:
I agree with you about the lyrics!

JHouston6 said...

My favorite part of of the year was when you started the war with Dominik and pulled out the water guns. My least favorite part was when Jamie was the teacher. You can fix that by never letting someone like Jamie teach again. Other than that your class was perfectly fine. I had a lot of fun over the year.

cgreek5 said...

dhieman6,
I didn't like the poetry unit either. I have a hard time with poems.

dmedyk6 said...

My favorite part of the year was when we did poetry presentations. My least favorite part was when Mrs. Thomas gave me a lunch detention, and when she thought she could beat me and Paul in a water war. This can be improved by controlling students more, and stop trying to get students wet with little orange basketballs. Overall the year was quite humerous. This will be one class I won't forget. P.S. Beau is still alive!

dmedyk6 said...

@jhouston6 I completely agree!

dmedyk6 said...

amandas2 I liked the Shaskespeare unit too.

Mrs. A. Thomas said...

@dmedyk6 the war is not over. I also do not think Beau ever truly existed.

Mrs. A. Thomas said...

How do I pick a favorite part of this year!? There have been so many great moments I do not know which ones to pick. In 2nd period, I enjoyed our discussions the most. As a whole you were a very insightful class and I loved that! We also got some good laughs out of waking up Anthony would he would fall asleep in class and start snoring. :-)
In 5th period, I enjoyed watching Alex beat almost the entire class by himself during the Insane vs. First degree murder debate. I also will miss my girls that would help me with any and everything when they would finish their work early.
In 6th period, where do I begin! I'll admit I have totally lost control of all of you by now. I will miss Edgar always complimenting me and getting the class to act right. Lo Lo trying to go to the library everyday and his 'talent' for pronouncing vocab. words. Chris trying to keep everyone under control. Little One and her crazy antics. Also, the water war with Dom...I win by the way. Sachi brightening my day and Little One rolling her eyes when she would say anything. Sarah playing beau the dog, on more than one occasion.
To all my students: most of you were great and I will miss you dearly! Make sure to come back and visit.

Mrs. A. Thomas said...

@jhouston6 I guess Little One abused her power when I let her be teacher, who thought that would happen :-).

ezuy6 said...

I really enjoed this class! I like everything about it. I like all these weird people in this class, sometimes weird conversations! I remeber my first day in school, and after 6 period i was scared...Every class is so much fun and never boring like almost all other classes! And my favorite part was poetry presintations! It was really fun! Mrs. A.Thomas, thank you for making school days brighter!

ezuy6 said...

tfried2
I missed this part!

ezuy6 said...

kflanagan6
I agree! I'm going to miss 6 period!

Ntburke5 said...

I like when we got to just sit around in the class and watch pictures. I also liked when we read the day no pigs would die and i read ahead and told everyone what happens. The thing i liked least was the poetry it is so hard and my group failed with the poetry things. I also couldn't memorize Titania's speech.

@dHillman6 We thought almost the exact same things

@Rjacobs2 yeah poetry was hard

twilson2 said...

My favorite part has most likely been the Socratic seminars. Not because, i truly enjoy them, but because it brings the class together. This way we can get a better understanding of how other class mates implement their understanding of the book. The lack of computer lab time is kind of a bummer, i feel like once a week activities could be done on the computers instead of just blogs. I feel like it would be really cool if we could put our ideas together as a class using computers and create projects, i also feel like this would be fun to compete with other classes.

awashington2 said...

My favorite part in reading class is going to sleep. My least favorite is waking up and being lost not knowing whats going on. This can be improved if i went to bed earlier. It has been fun though i had fun when i was in reading except for this speech thing.

awashington2 said...

dmedyk6,

Wow that's really funny.

amandas2,

I don't like this Titania's speech junk.

sbogue said...

My favorite part of this year has been the Shakespeare unit. I loved reciting Titania's speech and finding out what all the words mean. I really like watching the movie because our reading the book comes to life. Also, in the beginning of the year, I loved using vocab words because it helped me know what the words meant. Finally, this isn't educational, but I loved looking at all the pictures throughout the year because Mrs. Thomas always had them.

sbogue2 said...

awashington2, that was so funny when you'd fall asleep! But maybe you should fall asleep a little less, so you know what's going on ;)

sbogue2 said...

amandas2, why don't you like reciting Titania's speech? I love having to remember it :)

eMoody6 said...

My favorite part of class was watching Logan, Wesley, Jamie, and others who I am to lazy to right the names of make a fool of themsleves. It was absolutely hilarius and entertaining every 6th period (even when Mrs. Thomas was going crazy and on the verge of mental breakdown. One thing I did not like about the class was how hard it was to keep all the notebook pages together since I have no glue.

eMoody6 said...

jhouston6,
Be nice to Jamie it's not her fault she's crazy

eMoody6 said...

amanibusan6,
You are so right! Shakespeare is one of my favorite subjects. He is such a talented and amusing author

dgillespie5 said...

There have been allot of great things that happened this year. Of all that has happened, i would say what i liked most was our unit on Shakespeare. I cant say that there was anything wrong with our reading class this year. I hope next years 8th graders carry on the legacy we have left behind.

dgillespie5 said...

tfried2,
I think ADNPWD was a great book but its not something i would reread.

dgillespie5 said...

cgreek5,
I think the Shakespeare unit should be longer or started earlier.

anichols2 said...

My favorite part of this year was reading A Day No Pigs Would Die and the Poetry Unit. A Day No Pigs Would Die kept me wanting to read it and I am not a reader. The poetry unit was really fun because we got to have fun while reading 5 poems to the class. My least favorite part about this year is that we are going to have to leave. I love our class and have learned a lot! I think we should have started the Shakespeare unit earlier so we didn't have to rush through it all. I am going to miss 2nd period next year!

anichols2 said...

Another thing that I loved about 2nd period was everything we talked about and Mrs. Thomas trying to wake people up because people would fall asleep. Even though some of us get on her nerves a lot she still dealt with us through out the entire year!

anichols2 said...

Amanibusan6,
I agree with you! We should have done shakespeare a little earlier.

anichols2 said...

kflanagan6,
I think it will be hard for all of us to leave such a fun classroom!

spena6 said...

Mrs. A Thomas
I will miss Jamie always getting mad at me and you brightening my day.

spena6 said...

Dmedyk6
Well I did love those water fights so you could win your soccer games and it worked.

spena6 said...

My favorite part of this reading class was definitely when I got the award for brightening Mrs. Thomas's day. It was also funny when Jamie and me kept on competing for our teachers attention. I loved every part of the year. There was nothing I hated and there is nothing that can be improved. I'm going to miss my favorite teacher I've ever had!!!

bferguson2 said...

My favorite part of our reading class this year would have to be doing the poetry presentations. It was a lot of fun to be with my group everyday and just have fun, but at the same time we worked hard and got an overall great group grade :) My least favorite part..honestly, I loved everything. Mrs.Thomas, you did a great job teaching and explaining everything but making it fun as well. :) The only thing I didn't like was the little assessments we had to do, but those are required..sooo.. don't change anything :)

bferguson2 said...

kflanagan6,
me too leaner, this year has been GREAT!

bferguson2 said...

tfried2,
I didn't like the lottery either, but then again I thought it was pretty interesting :)

jdewitt6 said...

Out fo everything that has happened in sixth period this year it's hard to picka favorite... I love how sixth period is more like a family than a class and I love just hanging around with everyone. Overall, the best moment was either when Logan decided he would spell his last name Bagle or when Cajun would tell stories. My least favorite was the learning part. This has been an amazing year and I'm going to miss sixth period so much!

jdewitt6 said...

kflanagan6. same here! you put the least favorite part perfectly.

jdewitt6 said...

bferguson2: i didn't like the lottery either, it was strange!

MRichards5 said...

I think the best part was reading The Lottery and watching the clip for it. I've always had a fascination with that kind of horror-type genre. I also liked the 38 story, since I'm always interested in murder. What you can do to improve the class next year is to have us not have to memorize big things like Titania's speech -- some people have bad memories D:

MRichards5 said...

@tfried2

A Day No Pigs Would Die was a really intense book for me to read.

MRichards5 said...

@dhileman6

I love poetry x.x

jdiehl6 said...

My favorite thing about this year was what we are working on now. I really love reading A Mid-Summer Nights Dream, because its really interesting. I feel like giving us parts and letting us act it out is going to be by far one of the coolest things we have done this school year with our friends in your class. One thing I dislike about the class is just when we are in the middle of doing something and we decide to have a "war" and throw water stuff across the class room and when it gets out of hand with "playing around" but that doesn't happen a lot, other than that I have really enjoyed this class.

jdiehl6 said...

dhileman6... I loved A day no pigs would die. that was so fun, certainly with Cajun in the class!

jdiehl6 said...

kflanagan6... I agree(:

I told you I'd do it Mrs. Thomas said...

this is my first blog of the year. i have missed every single one before this and i finally decided to do one. my favorite moment of this year was when i skipped the class every day and went into ms Haro's room instead. i always forgot my independent reading book and always asked if we had a blog then never did them. well i don't know what else to write, you told me to do this so i did.

my group was supposed to be hilarious
it was more like Shakespear

lrichey6 said...

My favorite moment well that's incredibly hard with the crazy 6th period I have with everyone who I am going to really miss next year. But my all time favorite would have to be when Cajun was here and Jamie and Julie were fighting over him it was hilarious. The team wars they were pretty cool and amazingly crazy. And all the jokes about what if Cajun walked through the door and random stuff everyone would say like when Edgar blurts out "Julie what, save a hours ride a cowboy?" Then there was when the sub let us turtle Julies backpack those were all my favorite moments. My least favorite moment would have to be when Logan hit me in the head with a beanbag and when I got wet from Jamie in the A-Tom Dominic war well just the time I got hit with stuff but otherwise everything was amazing it might of been crazy but amazing. Going to miss everyone next year. Next year keep up with the wars they make everything great they make class more interesting.

lrichey6 said...

eMoody6 yea watching them make a fool of themselves is hilarious.

lrichey6 said...

dmedyk6 you guys are crazy the war so far has pretty much hit me every time I have gotten soaked its hilarious though.

Dhileman6 said...

@tfried2
Yes, that book gave me something I didn't have. Caring about... events.

Dhileman6 said...

@amanda2
Thanks, now I don't feel alone about being poor with poetry. My group had mostly kids that are... what's the word... crazy, and I didn't quite fit in for a silent boy. (No offense to my poetry group, but that's my view.) But hey, I've had experiences that helped prepare me.

msimons6 said...

My favorite part of the year is when we read A Day No pigs Would Die. My least favorite part was when I got wet by Jamie in the A-Tom Dominic war.Im going to miss everyone next year. Next year make less blogs. This class was awesome.

awilson2 said...

My favorite part of Reading class was when we made and performed the poems we put together. It was a fun project to perform. My least favorite part in Reading class was the mini projects. I think we should have time to work on it during class.

awilson2 said...

@ msimons6- That was also a favorite moment of mine, I enjoyed reading that book.

tgarrison2 said...

My favorite part of reading class this year is watching dominic rumore run around the classroom and not get and asd. My least favoprite part is paraphrasing shakespeare because it is way too hard. I think we shouldve have done it earlier in the year. The end of the year is for having fun.

tgarrison2 said...

Awilson2,
That was really fun and i hope we do it in highschool.

tgarrison2 said...

nmongo2,
that was a good book but it was also king of sad.

awilson2 said...

@ twilson2- I agree with you Tyler. I think that more of the assignments should have been done on the computers.

mmcclendon5 said...

awilson2 i agree poetry was fun

mmcclendon5 said...

awilson 2 i agree with your coment to tyler we dont get to use computers alot. but then again it is a reading class

mmcclendon5 said...

one thing i didnt like this year was substitutes. class was never fun with out mrs. thomas. one thing i liked was how we performed our poetry groups it was exciting and filld the room with energy. i dont think theres a need to improve anything because class was great. the most fun in every other grade. vocabulary was the best skill to learn its always a plus to learn what a word from another laguage or culture means.

Mwilliams6 said...

It is very hard for me to pick a favorite moment in sixth period because that is a very crazy class. But I really enjoyed everyone in that class because we bonded like a family and had some very interesting people and conversations in that class. Theirs not a lot of things that I didn't like but one was when we did the Lottery. Mainly because it was creepy and sad. I am really going to miss everyone in my class.

Mwilliams6 said...

Dbenjamin6,
Although i never got the most words, I agree it was running around the room to find the vocab words

Mwilliams6 said...

Anichols2,
I too loved reading A Day No Pigs Will Die

ebayer6 said...

My favorite part this year was when you and Dominic having a water war i guess you could call it. I loved when Kendall surprised him when he walked in the door and threw the basketballs at him. Something that I would improve on is maybe not letting our class get a hold of water guns and splash balls :)

ebayer6 said...

Mwilliams6,
I agree we did have a pretty awesome 6th period :)

My favorite part of this year I think was when we started to learn about Shakespeare. The movie was really funny. I also enjoyed when we created the song to try and help us memorize things for a test, which it did help for and it was also loads of fun. My least favorite part of the year was when we did the poetry presentations and we had to present our analyzed poems in front of the class. Not only because my group didn't do well at all, but because the presentations were time consuming and not easy to do. Also I didn't like A Day No Pigs Would Die, I found the book and activities boring and the end of the book was really sad and depressing. so I don't think you should do that next year.

bhoffmann2 said...

astine2, yeah, I'm pretty sure that our group was the worst out of everyone.

bhoffmann2 said...

tfried2, I don't think she should give the person who wins the lottery A's on all their blogs because then they would just get to freely not do any of their blogs and that wouldn't be fair to the rest of the students in all of her classes.

hpeel2 said...

I liked reading a day no pigs would die. The book was interesting and we got to do a socratic seminar to discuss ideas.I also enjoyed the poetry unit because I worked with really nice students and everyone was supportive. I cant seem to recall a particularly bad memory in reading class. Next year, keep doing what your doing.

My favorite part would have to be when we did our poems. It was so much fun but funny at the same time. I reeally am going to miss everyone but i'll miss Anthony the most. Having a laugh everytime he fell asleep in class will always be remembered. It can be improved by not having mini assesments. Man I hated those.

aneal2 said...

hpeel2: I loved reading that too.

My favorite part of this year was when we read a day no pigs could day. I liked this part because it was an interesting story. Also we would talk about how Robert would change and mature in the story. I also enjoyed having Mrs. Thomas as a teacher. It was fun having her for reading and language arts. Because she is Nice and the time she is cheerful. What I didn’t like about this year was the mini assessments and fair testing.

My favorite part of the year was when me Ashlyn, Tish, and Angella made the song about Midsummers Night Dream to the beat of What Makes you Beautiful. We worked really hard and all our hard work paid off. My least favorite part was the poetry presentation because me and Ashlyn were the only ones who worked. That frustrated me a lot and I didn't enjoy that. But other than that I had a great year (:

my favorite part(s) of reading class was when we read stories about bugs and other stuff that mede girls freak out. i disliked the part where we had to present poems. that could be better if it weren't so dignity depleting. i also didn't like it whem we read shakespear, as it took to long. it was also somewhat hard to under stand.

I had a lot of favorate molments this year. But one of my favorate ones was probably when we acted out skits for our subjects and poems. The poems were really fun to do and watch. They gave us a time to have fun with our friends. But of all the things i liked, the one thing i didn't like was getting assigned groups. I know it helps us meet new people but some people don't want to participate.

Well first off anybody who has any classes with me knows how crazy I am in class. i just want to apologize to ms thomas for putting up with me i can be a big trouble maker. Second my favrite part of tyhe year is in forth period when Jam and England were always fighting it was so funny. Third off i would alwasy have fun in 4th period although everybody hated how hyper i always was I know everyone had fun in that class because of me. Anyways I know ms,Thomas i have been an ok student i thought i could have been way better but choose not to. I will never forget how much fun ths class was. Everyone have a great summer.
ps: I will not miss this school at ALL!

My favorite part of the year was when we watch the Midsummer Night's Dream in class. IT was a good movie. Learning about Shakespear was fun too. My least favorite part of the year was the poem section came in. I don't really like poems. I don't know how to improve it since it was a personal problem.

My favorite part of this year was the group poetry presentations. My least favorite part of this year was nothing I cant think of anything bad about this year. I think if we had a more frequent blog that would be great. honestly I did not like A Day No Pigs Would Die. I did not like it beause it was deppressing to me.

The greatest thing that heppend in reading class was probably walking into class and talking to my friends before class starts and before the bell rings. I have alot of time to talk to them more than in the bunker and and more fun than in the Bunker. I also liked reading Shakesphere's plays. However I think what needs to improve into shakesphere's plays is probably acting them out than waiting for highschool just to them. But overall I had a great year in this class and I hope everybody in the future will like this class too.

@sjun2
I can agree with that.

My favorite part of this year was being your aid:).It was fun and fun and you made me do not fun stuff :'(.It all worked out in the end though. You always helped me do my work and ect.

My favorite part of class is when we did the shakesphere unit. It was fun watching the movie. The worst thing about reading class, was not getting to perform the play. Next year you should start the unit earlier. That way you have time for the play.

my favorite part of your reading class was when we were doing shakespear. we were talking in acents. we got to watch movies and all of that good stuff. there isn't much that you could change because it's allready amazing.

My favorite part of the class was the tell-tale-heart debate. Personly I love debate so it was a good fit. I however didn't like the seating style. It was crowded and didn't allow much space to move. But overall it was a good year.
