Blog #13 Due: Monday 5/21/12

Post the title and author of your novel, PLUS the page # you're on!!

Tell me one of your characters and briefly describe who the character is.
If this character were packing a suitcase for a trip, name THREE items that the character would pack and explain WHY you chose each item. Your answers should NOT include something like: "A toothbrush because most people think it's important to brush their teeth."

The last book I read was The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. I loved this book a lot. This blog is easy for me because my character Logan does pack for a trip he takes this picture he found of this girl and travels to the Hampton's looking for her. It does not say what he packs but I assume that a major thing to pack is the picture of the girl so when he is looking for her he has a sense of who he is looking for. Another item would be his dog Zeus because thats his bestfriend and he wants to take him everywhere. The last thing would probabley be playing cards because he was into cards and tricks.

I just recently finished Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. The main character of the trilogy is Katniss Everdeen. In Catching Fire, Katniss has been selected to go back to the Hunger Games and fight until death, AGAIN! If she were packing a suitcase for a trip, she would definitely bring her mockingjay pin because it's supposed to keep her safe and not let bad things happen or stand in her way. Another thing that Katniss would bring, is a picture of her little sister Primrose. Her sister Prim and her are very close, so Katniss would want to see her everyday by bringing a picture. The last thing she would bring, would be her bow and arrow. Katniss is a pro at shooting arrows, so she would bring that so she could get extra practice and shooting time while she was on vacation.

jdiehl6,
I still have that book just sitting on my bedside table and I haven't had time to pick it up and start it yet! I heard the movie is really good. Hope you like the book :)

I am currently reading The Woman in Black by Susan Hill and am on page 50. A character in my story is the main character, Aurthor Kipps. Aurthor is a lawyer who is sent on a business trip to go seach for lost documents in a woman who has reacently died house. However the house is rumored to be haunted but Aurthor is determined to prove them wrong and that he is not phased by ghost. If Aurthor were going on a trip he would most likely bring a picture of his fiancee Stella, becuase she is very important to him. He would also bring his lawyer case because he is very into his work, and lastly he would bring a bicycle because he likes to bike and "clear his thoughts."

Title: The Last Treasure
Page: 146
Author: Janet S. Anderson
I pick Ellsworth. Three things he'd bring with him are his goldfish, Hugo, the letter from his dad, Ben, and money. Ellsworth would bring Hugo because that's his pet, it wouldn't feel the same without him. He'd bring the letter because he needs to know more about where he's going. And Ellsworth would bring money because his father is not following him, and he's not old enough to drive.

@bferguson2
I've heard about the second book, but never read it. Oh the irony of playing the Hunger Games... again.

I sense romance just seeing the fact he'd bring the picture of the girl... Haha, I wonder why Logan went looking for her.

The book I am currently reading is The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. I am currently on page 25. A character in my book is Zac Efron. Some things that he would have packed is his military clothes, his regular clothes for travel and money for on the way. He also kept a picture he found on the campground of a girl he liked. He went on a jorney to find her and he did. He keeps the secret that he has the her picture until the end and then he eventually tells her that he found it. She gets mad but then listens to his story and starts to belive him and then they get back together the night before he leaves.

I am currently reading Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. In this book there are two main characters, but the one I'm going to choose is Julianna Baker. If Juli was going on a trip somewhere she would probably pack the sycamore painting her dad painted for her so she would always feel calm and relaxed. Also, she would pack a locket with her family and Bryce's faces so she wouldn't forget all the people she loves. Lastly, she would pack a good book/journal because not only is she smart she has a lot of thoughts and ideas about things. This book is so addicting and adorable especially since I watched the movie like twenty times! By the way I am on page 105.

Khaldeman2 said...

jdiehl6, That book sounds so good, and I heard the movie was really good to. Have you seen the movie yet? If so which one do you like better?

If Wayland North were to pack a suitcase he would bring the cloak that Syd made for him BEcause its specila to him and so is she. North would also bring his gloves to hid e the curse that was cast on him by a hedge passed down from his Grandfather. He would also pack the bracelet he put on Syd to save her from herself as a reminder.

I am currently reading Lost and Found by Anne Schraff. I am on page 73. A character from my book is Darcy Wills. She is a regular high school student that makes straight A's. She a good normal teen who makes mistakes here and there. If she was going on a trip, in her suit case would be a book, some candy, and a cell phone. She would bring a book because she can not go without reading, she reads all the time. She would also bring candy because she always has candy when she is nervous, scared, and excited. The last item she would bring is a cell phone because if she did not live without contacting her family once a week she goes ballistic.

awilson2 said...

@Khaldeman2- Those are some cool items, they make sence. :)

awilson2 said...

@anichols2- Those are some everyday things. Cool!

I am reading catching fire the second book in the hunger games series.I choose katniss because she is what the book revolves around. If she was packing a suitcase she would bring a bow and arrows. One reason I said this is because she always needs to protect her self at all time because she is so popular.

I am currently reading Traitors, By Steve Mcnab. One character in my book is Sam Perkins. If he was packing a suitcase he would pack a gun, a badge, and a cellphone. He would pack these items because he is an FBI agent so he always needs his ID. His gun is for safety. The cellphone would be so he can always contact his boss and the rest of the FBI.

i am reading shakespear's insults by wayne f. hill, and i am on no particular page. the only real character is shakespear, and we all know shakespear. he would probably have to pack his pen (or any wrighting utencle), because if he went somewere like italy, he would write down a lot of stuff describing it so he could use it in one of his plays. he would also probably pack something to write on, because, well, if he only brought a pen, that would be pretty useless , right? (heh, heh, ok i'll stop). he would also pack a book of some of his plays/poems for refrence and to record new stuff down.

My Book is Halo: Cryptum, by Greg Bear. I am on page 284. My character is the Didact, a powerful warrior and one of the main characters of the book. In the book, he plays the role of a ancient Forerunner Promethean that was exiled for speaking out against one of the other caste of the Forerunner government. If packing for a trip, he would probably pack a weapon of some form for self defense, a photo of his wife who is only mensioned until the last few chapters where she is directly interacted with. Lastly, he would probably pack some form of communication device so that he could coordinate with the members of the Forerunner government who have his side in the ecumene council.

I am currently reading The Sinking Of The Bismarck by William L. Shirer. I'm on page 19. The main "character" is actually the Bismarck. This "character" would bring ammunition, food, and fuel for a trip. The ammo could be used to blast foes out of the water. The food would be eaten by the crew. The fuel would be used to get to where the Bismarck needs to go.

I'm reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and am on page 235. Katniss is the main character and would take only 3 main things that she would need. She would take bow and arrows because she can shoot it amazingly plus she needs to fight and that is her weapon. Another thing she would pack is her mockingjay pin because that is her symbol for the rebellion. The third thing is a bullet proof vest so when she is in battle she wont get killed.

The last book I read was Barack Obama the audacity of hope. By Barack Obama. I also really liked this book alot. If there was something my character would take it it would be his tooth brush because he is a very clean guy when it comes to hygiene.(NH)he would also take his family because he is a big family guy.he would also take his secret service because there are lots of people in the U.S that would like to kill him.

I'm reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins and I'm on page 230. The main character of my story is Katniss Everdeen. Katniss is a strong independent girl from District 12 who has always had to provide for her family and be strong for everyone around. If she were packing her suitcase for a trip, she would pack water, her bow and arrows. She's returning back to the Hunger Games, after already winnning once with Peeta. I chose these items because these seem to be the most important things to her when she's fighting for her life in the Games. She always desperately needs water because there's not much food around. Finally, her bow and arrows are her best defense against the other tributes, so she would definitely need those.

She is a young,1870s, british girl. In the story she is on an adventure but I think if she had a choice she would bring magical rings, so she can get back home. Binoculars, she is curious but timid at the same time. Club, because she is very defensive.

If he were going on a trip, the three things he would bring would be Chuck, answers, and memories. Chuck is his only friends in the glade. He is constantly asking everyone questions, thought no one gives him anwers, which annoys him. A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin, page 723.

She is a teenager and she has a "sister" who ahe would want to keep in touch with. She would also bring a journal. She would bring a journal so that she could write about her experiences and what she is thinking about and even write letters to send to family and friends. Lastly, she woulld bring a book. On the train, she read alot and she loves reading. She would probably bring a book, because i dont think she has a kindle in the book. But i dont reallly remember.

I am currently on page 106 of Mockingjay, by Suzanne Collins. My character is Katniss Everdeen, and she has been in an arena where she has had to fight to the death twice. She’s a good hunter with her bow and arrow, and she does what’s right even though it’ll disobey orders. If she were to take a trip, she would bring her bow and arrows because it’s the best tool she could have. She would also pack a few water bottles, or canteens, because the one thing she lacked in the arena was water. The final item she would bring is her water purifier because if she runs out of water in her containers, she could also purify river water.

I am reading the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I'm on page 11, so I don't much about the main character Guy Montag, but I do know that his feelings towards the book burning in his community is changing. If he was going to pack a suitcase for a trip now I would think that in it he would have a T.V., a book, and Seashell radio. In his society they're all about technology and anything that is recent is basically forgotten, and everybody is constantly watching television or listening to radio's. So that's why he might bring a television and radio, but the reason he might bring a book would be because he is learning to like them because of this 17 year old girl that teaches him to love the natural world. He is also trying to save the books from being burned so that might be another reason to take one.

I am currently reading Middle School the Worst Years of my Life by James Patterson. I am on page 152.The Main character in my book is named Rafe he is a non popular 6th grader. If the character was packing a suitcase he would bring a weapon, journal, and his mom. He would bring a weapon to protect himself from bullies; he would bring a journal to write about his adventures along the trip. He would bring his mom because they are really close, and she is one of the only people he can trust.

I'm reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I'm on page fourty five right now. One of the main characters is Hermoine Granger, who enjoys reading and studying above all else. Hermoine would choose to bring a school book to study, a picture of Ron Weasley (her boyfriend), and her wand. She would choose to bring a picture of Ron because she loves him and she wants to be able to remember him while she's away from him. Also, she would bring her wand because she has to be able to defend herself against death eaters, and perform magic as all wizards do.

I am reading Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah. I have read this book before and it's one of my favorite books. There are two main characters, Kate and Tully. I'm only going to do one though. Tully is a girl with a horrible background. She is the popular girl at school.Three things she would pack might be cigarettes, her phone, and a picture of her grandma. Cigarettes because her mom smoked when she was pregnant and so she is sort of addicted to them. A cell phone because like I said she is the popular girl at school so she would want to be connected. Lastly, Her grandma's picture because at age nine Tully was dropped off at her Grandma's by her mom who said she would be right back. Five years later the mom apears, and basically Tully's only love is from her Grandma who dies a few chapters later. This is why Tully would bring the picture.

The book I am currently reding is called Mercy on These Teenage Chimps. The author is Gary Soto. I am on page 130. One character in my book is Ronnie he is just turning thirteen and thinks he is becoming a chimp along with his best friend Joey. If Ronnie was packing a suit case to go on a trip three things I think he would pack are bananas because thats all he eats because he figures if he's going chimp he should at least eat like one. I think he would pack a blinder so he can blind fruits and bananas together. And I think he would pack some wood and nails so that he can make a tree house just in case it rains.

The book I am currently reading is Warriors: New Prophecy Starlight by Erin Hunter. I am on page 103. Since there are multiple main characters, I will describe Brambleclaw. He is a cat so he can't really pack anything for a trip. Maybe emotions and friends? Right! The first thing he would take is his friends from the journey to find Midnight. They would need help and cats who respect him. Next he would need courage and fear. You can not have courage without fear, otherwise you are an idiot for diving head-first into death. Since they are going into unknown territory, they will need courage and fear.

The book I'm currently reading right now is Ghosts in The Fog: The Untold Story of Alaska's Invasion by Samantha Seiple. I'm on page 14. This is about people who experienced a untold invasion years ago that was kept from the public to keep the nation from panic. Even though there are a lot of characters in this book, not one of them seems to be a protagonist yet. But I bet most of them would go to a trip to Alaska. The first item on their list is probably their army uniform, a rifle, and a pistol because this is how most solders were ready to fight to defend their country.

I am currenlty reading Blindsided... If my character were to go somewhere it would have to be somewhere beautiful and would have a lot of sound like the beach. Because the main charcter Natalie is blind and at the beach there is always sound .. like the ocean, wind the and the birds.

Well I finished reading the second book in the Hunger Games seris, Catching Fire. I think Katniss would pack a bow and arrow because those are pretty much her life line, the give her protection and help her get food and many other things. The second thing I think she would bring would be her mockingjay pin that Madge had given her I think not only would she bring it to symbolize her district and everything shes been through but also I think it might bring her hope and luck. The thrid thing would be Peetas cheesey bread because she explains how much she loves the bread.

The Titans Curse, Rick Riordan, Recently Finished. For my character i chose Percy, Percy is a friend/family loving person that has a lot of things up the road for him. He would probably pack these three items in a suitcase. A golden drachma for contact to anyone from anywhere, money for transportation food etc, and a map maybe cause his since of direction isn't great unless hes in water. He has packed things before or been given, a thermos full of wind for safety or emergency.

@ metroidman97 that is a cool book to read, considering we are reading Shakespeare write now. But that would be the other side of him i suppose.

The book I am currently reading is Runaway Twin by Peg Kehret. I am on page 62. The main charcter is Sunny Skyland and she ants to be reunioted with her long lost twin sister. If she were to pack a suitcase I think she would bring a picture of her twin sister because it gives her motivation to keep moving. She would also bring her dog, Snickers becasue he means a lot to her and he is the only family she has for now. The last thing that I can think of is the money she found so she has food to eat and other things she needs.

I just finished Witch and Wizard. It is by James Patterson. The main characters would probably have to pack Wist's drumstick, because its a magic wand. Wit's magic book, because it is magic. Also their ghost dog, because its their pet.

I am reading the book Swallowing stones, and one of its main characters is Michael Mackenzie. If he was going on a trip, he would be sure to bring his winchester rifle that his grandfather gave him for his birthday. The police are after this rifle and Michael will do anything to keep it from them, including burying it in his backyard. He would also bring the letter that Amy gave him. He hasn't read it yet but he plans to. Another thing that he would pack in his suitcase is his friend joe, especially if they were at a party; you know, drunk. His friend Joe does everything with him, and gets dragged into the police case against Michael while trying to defend him.

bferguson2;
I agree, those do sound like the items that Katniss would bring.

Snetherland5;

I am reading Camp Rules. I am on page 118.The author is Jordan Roter. If my character was going on a trip she would pack her favorite hellokitty nightgown she's had since she was 4. She would also pack camping gear because in the book she is going to FernLake camp for girls. The last thing I think she would pack is a picture of her parents because throughout the story she gets very homesick.

The book I'm reading is The Thief Lord (and I forgot the author). I recently finished the book.

If the character I chose, Riccio, were to pack three items for a trip, he would pack some comic books -- since he loves reading, toys -- since he's still a children, and some food -- so he doesn't have to steal money all the time.

MRichards5 on blog 13 I think he is a bad example because he did not have a paragraph. The one he had was very sloppy and did not look very good.
AStephens5. On blog 13 showed me how to do a good one she answered all of the questions on the blog and answered them with complete thoughts’ I, believe she took what she was told to do very seriously .
I am very nervous about the blogs, because I am very shy and I prefer people do not look at my writings. So I am not that excited . another reason is because I read a lot of book no one has ever heard of. Im afraid I might offend people if I post something offenceive to them.
