The Book that I am reading is called Turtle in Paradise By Jennifer L. Holm. I am currently on page 10 of my book. I just started reading my book yesturday so I haven't got far. Since I am at the begining of my book it is hard to tell what I really like about the book. One thing that I dont like is that this book is really 'slow to read'. It hasn't caught my attention yet.

I am currently reading Someone Like you by Sarah Dessen. I just began this book, so I am only on page 5. However, I have read this book many times before. One thing that I really like about this book is that the author always writes her books about things that could really happen to a teenage girl. In this instance, it's young teenage pregnancy. It shows all the troubles a girl has to go through and I think girls will reconsider some of the choices that they make after reading this book. One thing that I dislike about the book would have to be that Scarlett's boyfriend and father of the baby passes away in a motorcycle accident before Scarlett even KNEW that she was having a child. It would've made more sense for him to die maybe after she told him, but that's just my opinion.

I just started the Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan. In my book, I love how they put in Greek Mythology and make it seem so normal. Plus, the book is really funny and it seems like most books aren't. The main characters are my age, so it's pretty relatable besides the whole Greek god or goddess thing! I don't like this book because even though it's a great idea and clever, it almost seems like it's copying Harry Potter because in the book series there's a main boy who has a prophecy when he gets older and figures out he has powers after he is brought to a magical school/camp.

bferguson2, I just read this book and I really liked it! Why do you think you keep reading it? Is it because it's about teenagers or that there is so many unexpected turns?

anichols2 said...

bferguson2,
It sounds like a good book!

sbogue2 said...

anichols2, why did you pick this book if it didn't grab your attention? What is your book about?

bferguson2 said...

sbogue2,
I've never read those books but from the sound of it, they sound pretty interesting! Greek mythology is a cool thing to learn about. Just like in The Lightening Theif. Hope you like the book :)

The book I was reading was Gone by Lisa McMann. One specific thing I love about my book is that you never know where the story will take you. It annoyed the crap out of me because I wouldn’t want to stop reading even-though I was really tired. The book had a great ending but it sucks that it was the last book in the series.

@anichols2,
Just by reading your title "Turtles in Paradise", it sounds weird. I obviously realize it’s not about turtles in paradise but what is it about?

The author of my book is scuba schools international. The book is open water diver. I am on chapter2 page 23. The thing that I like about my book is that you get to go were a lot of other people don’t get to go every day. That bad thing is that you have a lot of risks that follow along with it.

I am currently reading The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton, I think I'm on page 50. One specific thing I like about my book so far is that it is very realistic and could actually happen. It shows that not every place on Earth is perfect and also that a lot of people don't get along. One thing I don't really like about my book is that I can't really relate to the characters at all. But it's a great book so far!

JDewitt6 said...

bferguson2: I love that book and that author!

The book i am reading is Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson i am on page 109. I really like the suspense and how interesting the point of view of the main character Isabel. She is a spy for the patriots but is a slave for a loyalist. She has to go at night sneaking out of her masters house to someone else. It could be dangerous. I don't like the book because how the madam treats Isabel and her sister Ruth she is always beating Isabel and thinks Ruth is inhabitated by the devil. But it is really good and suspenful.

The book I am reading is Witch and Wizard the Gift I am on page 190 its by James Patterson. A part in my book that I really like is that it is a fantasy because of the magic Wisty and Whit posses. A thing that I dont like is that at one point in the book Wisteria has a crush on a resistance drummer named Eric and he ends up betraying her and turning her into the new order which really made me think he is a jerk but I think somehow Wisteria will forgive him and he'll join in with Wisty, Whit, weasel boy, and Feffer

The book that I recently completed was called The Great Wide Sea by M.H Herlong.I really like the suspense and action that it had.I really didn't like how sad it was.Some examples of the suspense were that they are lost at sea and don't know what will happen. It was sad because there mom died and there dad abandoned them.

The book that I am reading is Double Dutch by Sharon M. Draper. I am currently on page 63. One thing that I like about my book is that it is very funny, like when the kids make jokes about one another. One thing I don't like is that sometimes the book gets boring on some parts and I have to force myself to read it.

dbenjamin6 said...

anichols2, I can relate when you say you book is "slow to read." My book gets like that sometimes.

The book I am currently reading is Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer. I love my book because it is easy to read. I can read it fast. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is very realistic. I can picture me and my family in that situation.

I am currently reading My brothers Hero by Adrian Fogelin. I am on page 15. One thing i like about this book is that it has a point to it and it has a good story to it. One thing i hate about this book is that its boring and it doesnt really tell you what is going on. I think this book needs more excitment.

Im reading Olives Ocean by Kevin Hemkes. Im on page 65. One thing i realy like about my book is that the setting is on the beach. One thing i dont like about my book is that the chapters are very short, sometimes only one page long, so there are alot of chapters and its kinda wierd. But the book is also realy easy to read, so thats a plus.

I am currently "One True Friend". This book is written by Joyce Hansen. I am on page 20. I like that this book is explaining why Amir wants to go and see the rest of his family. I also like he he still keeps in touch with the other kids, that are still in the foster home.

I am currently reading Under The Blood Red Sun by Graham Salisbury. Im on page 136. One thing i dont like about the book so far is how theres nothing i dont like about it yet.

My book is the yearling. The author is Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings. Im on page 335. The book is really good because on around the 20th chapter his father gets bitten by a rattlesnake and shes really descriptive about that part. I dont like how she describes the blood and deaths i just dont like her being so descriptive with it.

I like bfergason's blog because it is very descriptive and she makes the reader want to read that book.

The book I'm reading is called Warriors:The Sight (Power of Three series) by Erin Hunter. I am on page 26. What I like about this book is that it contains good characteristics about each character in the series. What I hate about this book is that it keeps switching characters each chapter so it makes it kind of confusing. Sometimes the chapters would be like 10 pages long to about 50 pages long for a chapter.

Astephens5 said...

The book I am reading is, Girls acting Catty, by Leslie Margolis. I am currently finished with the book and it was 177 pages long.One specific thing that I liked about the book was that it was focused around middle school drama and I (we) could relate to it in some way. It's about a girl who's trying to figure out where she fits in and who her true friends are. In 6th grade everybody was trying to find that out and it can be very dramatic. One thing I didn't like about my book was the book at the beginning was very dull and not interesting. Throughout the first chapter it didn't capture my attention but I kept reading it just to find out I liked the book alot overall.Middle school can be alot of pressure and you can really feel and understand what this girl is going through.

I'm reading is Sent by Margraret Peterson, and I recently finished the book. One specific thing I liked about the book is the in-depth science they use in it, such as time travel and intricate rules they have about it. One thing I didn't like about this book is how short or a period of time it was after so many pages. By the time they got to the second and main setting, I was already halfway done with the book.

I am currently on page 372 of Crookedstars Promise by Erin Hunter. I really like the fact that Crookedjaw has a good destiny even though he has suffered hardships in his life. I dont really like the hardships he has suffered. He broke his jaw. Then his mother rejected him and decided to change his name to Crookedkit. Then Crookedkits mother decided to make Oakpaws (Crookedkits brother) mentor his father. That made him feel even worse! Crookedkit decided to "run away" and learned how to hunt and eat with a broken jaw. When he became a warrior, he finally earned his mothers respect.

The book that I am currently reading is The Lying Game by Sara Shepard and i am currently on page 269. So far, something that i really like about my book is the plot. The details are very good and the whole idea of the story makes it interesting and mysterous and make me want to keep reading it. However, i don't like how fast paced the book is. Something major happens and then five pages later something else happens. So basically there are so many imporatant things to keep up with.

My book is holes by Louis Sachar, and I am on page 55. One thing I really like about this book is that there are memories and flashbacks. The thing I like most about this book is how it keeps me interested and how it makes me not want to put it down. The thing I dislike the most about this book is how it differs from the movie. It’s ok though because I think that the book is better then the movie in many ways, such as description.

But I can tell already that the sensory details are really descriptive, and it makes it easy to easy what is going on. But opne thing that I dont like is that the author changes the characters that he's talking about really fast, so it's a little confusing. Other than that though it's pretty good.

Ellen Raskin/ The Westing Game/ Page 51
I really love that this book keeps me hooked in and excited because I want to find out who mudered Samuel W. Westing. Everyone starts to get suspicious of eachother, question relationships, and trick them into traps. I really hate when the point of view changes. It gets really confusing because one minute they’re talking from one person, and then the next they’re talking from another! Isn’t that confusing? I wish that it was at least telling me at the beginning who’s point of view I am reading from.

The title of mey book is "The Boy That Dared," by Susan Campbell Bartoletti. The thing I liked best was that Helmuth had the courage to speak the truth againt Nazi Germany. Even though it cost him his life and he was imprisoned at 17 and then executed for his beliefs. What I hated about it was he was not able to see the end of the Holocaust. The fact that it's a true story and there are pictures that showed he was eventually honored for what he did. I enjoyed the true information the author added at the end.

The thing I don't like about this book is that some of the things they talk about confuses me. I refer it when they are playings games.

I am currently reading 'Wicked' by Sara Shepard, one of the Pretty Little Liars books. I am currently starting chapter 18, and one of my favorite parts is when Emily goes sledding with her new friend Isaic behind the chemistry building of Hollis, and she sees Officer Wilden circling the parking lot in his car and telling someone on the phone to 'just stay away.' I like this part, because you don't really know what side Wilden is on; the bad guy's, or theirs. One thing that I do not like about my book is how Naomi and Riley so easily forgive Hanna for whatever she did. I don't think that this would ever happen so easily in real life.

Their home is currently being rennovated, and she moves in with her friend and her friend is basically very rich and has a huge mansion with painted ceilings and maids. What I don't like about the book is that it's sometimes over-the-top girly. For example, they don't say "amazing", they say, "ah-mazing~"

There's no question about what a character might be thinking at a certain time because you I know in the next chapter that what the character was thinking at the time will be explained. ntburke5, is that book like the movie? I saw that movie and thought it was pretty good. Is the book better than the movie?

Khaldeman2 said...

snadon6, your book sounds interesting I might read it soon. Did you read any other books in the peter pan sequel?

Khaldeman2 said...

pdixon6, I liked how you described what you like and dislike in your book, It sounds really interesting I might read it when i'm done with my book.

I usually drop slow reads instantly, congratulations on sticking to it

I'm currently reading Storm Runners. The author is Roland Smith.Iam currently on page 95. I like the books cover because it has lightning and a bus in the ocean which could mean no school. Every new chapter it has a time as it's heading.

You don't have any periods and you have misspelled words.

The book I am reading is A Time To Kill, by John Grisham. I am on page 489. I personnaly did not like how the book started. It started in a different persons view, and it was really boring. But one thing that really liked was how dramatic the book was. I guess you could call it dramatic, because they would some times over exaggerate about things. Which I liked.

anichols2,

I hate when books are like that, they make me want to go to sleep.

pmoreau5 said...

sbogue2,

I have read the whole series, and they were great.

The book I just finished is called A Year Down Yonder, by Richard Peck. One specific thing I really like about this book is when Maryy's(the main character) grandma crashed the other peroson's tractor on pecan tree to get some pecan to make pie for halloween.
One thing I really don't like about this book is it's too boring to read, so it's hard to finish reading this book.

ycho6 said...

ejones6,your book hears really interesting. I like the thing what character did in story:)

ycho6 said...

jdennis5,I like a mistery just like that story.I think I should read that book next time.

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling and I'm also on page one hundred and twenty. So far, I really like how J.K. Rowling describes the Quidditch World Cup. She uses phenomenal descriptive language and puts you there with Harry, Hermione, and the Weaslys. Also, I really dislike how Harry has a dream, is told in that dream that Voldemort has killed a woman named Bertha Jorkins, and he hears her name is two or three conversations with the Weaslys after the dream, but is delirious. In the conversations, she is regarded as missing, and the reason not many people are worried is because she normally goes on trips and gets lost, taking her time to return. But, since Harry has heard this name before and it should ring a bell, but it never does, this part annoys me.

bbedell6 said...

anichols2, I agree on your point about books that are 'slow to read'. I've started many books that I believe fall into that category that I've set down.

bbedell6 said...

bferguson2, I agree that it would have made more sense for him to die after she told him, but I also believe that it would be even better if he didn't die. That would show girls who were reading the book what the guy's reactions is after his girlfriend has a pregnancy.

Slaw5 said...

lwooley5, I love books like that! It makes me want to start reading more often.

SLaw5 said...

BFerguson2, That sounds like a really sad book.

TMartinez5 said...

@Aperez5
The changes with character per chapter is really confusing. The character are developed well too. Chapters arent 50 pages long! Ive read that book. You have only read 26 pages. Your argument is invalid. Also, chapters can be longer than 10 pages, its normal.

TMartinez5 said...

@ebayer6
Your argument is invalid. You have only read the first 2 books of the warrior series. There is a total of 4 series with 6 books in each series plus Super Editions and Manga. You cant say the transition of a character to another character is confusing because you have only read the books with one main character in it. Zing!

I just bought a new book and I ahve not gotten the chance to read it, so I will do this blog on my old book I read which is called, Wicked by Sara Shepard. This is again in the Pretty Little Lairs Series. One thing that I love aboiut this book is that Sara includes details after details. She also uses details including something thats in style like she uses stuff like this.."All the girls will be lunging around in their brand new Juicy Coture sweats." or "For there thirteen birthdays girls were reciving Tiffany & co. heart pendants." I like how she does this because I can kind of picture this in my mind and it is very realistic! One of the things I do not like about this book is every chapter is based on a diffrent girl. For example they have chapter one about Hanna, chapter two about Emily,Chapter three about Spencer so on and so forth. It gets a bit annoying because it is hard to keep track of everything that happends and it is a litte bit frustrating.

jdiehl6 said...

@bferguson2..I have wanted to read that book! It sounds really good, but interesting. Does the book keep you on the edge of your seat? I feel like all the drama would?

jdiehl6 said...

@sbouge2.. I am really interested in Greek Mythology! How did they incorperate it, beacuse I feel that Greek Mythology is anything but realistic. Do you recomend this book to people or a certain audience?

Right now i am reading "Woods Runner" by Gary Paulsen. I am currently on page 29. O thing i like about my book is that the whole story sounds very interesting because it's about a young 14 year old the goes hunting and he sees a huge cloud of smoke and rushes home. When he gets home, everyone is gone and there are some dead people on the ground. That's as far as I've gotten though. And one thing i do not like about my book is that the author talks about a bunch of things at once so it's kind of hard to understand what he's talking about.

wlawrence6 said...

@lbagley6
Sounds like a good book. But who thought a romantic zombie story was a good idea? But couldn't agree with you more, as long as there's zombies, it's a good story.

wlawrence6 said...

@TGarrison2
Wow that is surprising. I never knew Lebron played football. It doesn't surprise me though cause he's pretty big and fast

I am currently reading, Go Big or Go Home by Will Hobbs. I'm currently on page 127. I really like that in every corner of my book there is something new. You never have the urge to stop reading unless your told to. My book is full of adventure and doen't leave you dissappointed. Some of the things i don't like is somethings are extendended over a long period of time. So ov erall i really like my book and enjoy it.

twilson2 said...

@pdixon6 sounds interesting, fantasy books can always be interesting no matter what there about.

twilson2 said...

@nmongo2 I suppose that a book where there is a lot of interaction between many charcters must be fun to read.

dhileman6 said...

@SLloyd5

This doesn't sound like a book I would want to read. Sounds like too much drama about girls.

dhileman6 said...

@twilson2

I think the title makes it sound like an interesting book. Maybe I'll read it next.

I am currently reading Found by Margaret Peterson Haddix.I am on page 132.One specific thing I really like about my book is, it doesn't rush the story the author tells the story in a nice and interesting way.One thing I don't about my book is, it is kind of hard to follow in the beginning. I my self had to read over it at least two to three times.Also I don't like the Dialogue between the characters it is also hard to follow but it is possible.

scottr5 said...

@drumore2 I heard that Flush was a really great book I am thinking about checking that book out next.

The book I'm reading is Ninth Grade Bleeds by Heather Brewer. I'm currently on page 65.I really like how Vlad is a vampire and he only has to put sunscreen on and he can go outside. I don't like that he has to practice his vampire powers. Why cant he just do them.
