The book I am currently reading is "Bully" by Paul Langan, I am on page 93. The main idea of the story is about a teenager who makes a big move from Pennsylvania to California. This story relates to me a lot because I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida. He moves from his place that he calls home, and so did I. PA was my home and I had all my friends there and I knew everyone. He is currently going through the same situation that I went through.

Awilson,
I like the bluford high books because they tell you how things happen

awilson2 said...

@ awashington2, that was very thoughtful but could have been more explained on why it related to you.

I am currently reading The Last Song my Nicolas Sparks. I am on page 426. There is one similarity, her father has cancer and is dying and my grandpa had cancer and died from it. Even though I was a lot younger I still remember how I felt. I know she must have been devestated especially since she finally talked with her father after 3 years and this happens. I wish I had more similarities but when I am older, like her. I wish I could have Will.

I am so sorry that people did that to you. But its good that the book makes you laugh.

I am currently reading The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks and I'm on page 140. A connection I can make is with the main character Ronnie, who wants to be somewhere other than she is now, which is kind of like me, I'd much rather be at the beach than in school. I can relate to her little brother Jonah also because he turns against his sister a lot and knows many of her secrets. Also I am like Ronnie because some people annoy me very easily and I can get super agrevated. But it's been a great book so far!

Jdewitt6 said...

Spena6: I'm reading that book too, and I'm sorry about your grand father!

Jdewitt6 said...

Awilson22: That sounds like a great book, and ugh I would hate to move.

I just finished Witch and Wizard #1 by James Patterson it was 312 pages. I read it in 11 hours so yay! But with one of the main characters is Wisly she is 15 and has an older brother, who trys to protect her from everything exactly like my brother. This book is very back and forth between two peoples point of veiw so it keeps you on your toes. But the book is really very good and I am looking forward to start reading the second book this afternoon.

I currently finished reading the book, Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen. It was 212 pages long. This book reminds me of the time I was in 5th grade and i used to always get really good grades. In this book Julianna is very smart and is referred as the "teacher's pet". In elementary school, all my teachers loved me and I was a great student. Julianna is normally the first to get her work done correctly and normally the first one to figure out the answer to a problem. I remember in my math class in 5th grade we were all doing this math problem and I had gotten a different answer from everybody else including the teacher. In the end the person with the right answer was me because the teacher forgot an extra step and ended up getting it wrong while I got it right. This book was really good and I enjoyed it.

Title: Ride the Wind
Author: Lucia St. Clair Robson
Page: 225
In Ride the Wind, Naduah has to go through a lot of different trials. She is thrust into a different culture without warning. This is like my life in, I have no clue what could possibly happen next. Things could take a turn for the worse, but later I realize that it actually benefited me and made me a better person for it.

Jayfeather. I am easily hurt emotionaly. I am not blind. I seem to have this odd interest in medicine and health. I am an outcast. I can be very witty sometimes. I am not a very caring person but I am polite. I have just noticed that someone has discovered us and is trolling. Avast ye troll! Get ye dirty arts of me vessel! I am currently reading the 5th book in the Pretty Little Lairs it is called Wicked. In the book one of the main charecters 'A' or Mona you just dies she has been DIATRIBING the girls for a really long time. I am at a action scene in my book and also a very scary part it is a part where my charecter is tring to be killed. I am in love with the book so far I am on page 45 and chapter 4 I am still satisfiyed with the book. My life can not truley relate to what they are going through but it can in a way see there point of veiw. One of the reasons I love reading the book is because ot gives you there point of veiw for example..."I just wish I could call Mona. She used to be my bestfriend, who am I going to call for fashion help or for any boy drama? I miss her but should I because she was 'A'." - Hanna Marin from the book. It tells you there feelings and I like to be told instead of guessing.

I am currently reading Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling.(I finished my other book.)I am on page 29, and in the beginning of this book, there is a slight connection to my life. Draco's mother, Narcissa, is scared for her son. She wants to protect him and make sure he is safe. she goes to Severus Snape for help, and he agrees to watch over and/or help Draco. My mom tries to protect me like that sometimes, and whenever I go somewhere she tells the other adults to watch over me and make sure I'm safe. In a way, it's sort of the same.

I am reading Someone Like you by Sarah Dessen, on page 204. I connect to the the pregnant 16-year-old girl in my book because I watch "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant" on MTV. These TV shows really show what the young girls have to go through at becoming pregnant at such a young age. Scarlett, the pregnant girl in my book, is having the normal sick symptoms of being pregenant, which she absolutely hates to deal with and never knew about before becoming pregnant. On top of having to deal with her Mom wanting adoption, even though Scarlett knows she's keeping the baby, she has to deal with the difficulty of losing her boyfriend and the father of the baby. This is exactly what happened to another girl named Farah on the show "Teen Mom". She lost her boyfriend Derk during the early stage of pregnancy though, while Scarlett lost Micheal the day after the baby was conceived. I can't imagine what it would be like going through this being only 16.

kwilliams2 said...

awilson2 true and i love you too but wat did you mean?

Also, in the book she does a few different things different about herself that the girl in the movie does.

My book relates to me. Because I am a diver in training. I have went on a cruise were I went on a beginners diving course. It’s really cool to be 60 feet under the water but there are things that could freak some people out down there. Like sharks, darkness, a lot of ways to die, like coming up to fast, going to deep down, running out of air, getting trapped in a cave.

mmcclendon5 said...

I am reading Flipped by Wendalin Van Draanen, and I am on page 145. In the book, Juli Baker has her own special sicamore tree that she loves to go in. It is miles high and she feels like she can see the whole world when she's at the top of it. She even wakes up early in the morning to see the sunrise from it. One day the owner of the lot decides to cut the tree down and she refuses to come out of it. But the tree is eventually cut down. She is upset and cries for weeks. I feel like I can relate because sometimes the things I love get taken away from me. Those kinds of things are irreplaceable.

My book is The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman and I'm on page 103. A connection that I have with this story is that up until I was eight I was in catholic school, I did not really now what public school kids wore or what they liked to do. I had never heard of Lady Gaga and rap music till I went to public school. Bod has never really known what it’s like outside of the graveyard. Which I can totally relate to completely.

I am currently reading " Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince" By J.K. Rowling. I am on page 92. I can relate most to Hermione Granger because the first obvious one, she is a girl!! Also, she is very smart and she really wanted a cat, so with her birthday money she bought a cat. I wish i could get a cat with my birthday money, but i can't grr. But anyway, she can find a solution to anu problem right there on the spot and she is always taking notes in class. Snape also dispises her. She is probably smarter than him!! Haha! I am usually taking notes and i am smart i guess.....

I am, as of current, reading Firestar's Quest by Erin Hunter. In this book, Firestar has to rebuild an old Clan, and encounters many challenges along the way; including losing a friend. In my own situation, I have lost a dear friend of mine due to a Go-Kart accident; which is also connected to the story because the death was totally out of the blue, and that it wasn't meant to happen. In the book, Rainfur dies because of a battle with rats, which was completely unexpected. The same thing happened with an old friend of mine.

My book is Halo:The Flood, by William C. Dietz. It is a science fiction book based on the award winning Halo videogame franchise. The book tells the story of a hero and his fellow soldiers fighting to survive in a strange world. The connection this has with my life is how as an eighth grader, i am starting to develop myself to better survive in the world as an adult. Along the way we all encounter hardships that challenge us with new situations that help us to better ourselves and those around us. The same can be said for most other people.

awashington2, your post fits the assignment but could be expanded to provide a better result.

dmedyk6, nice work on a strong response. sounds like a good book.

The book that I'm reading is Smiles to Go by Jerry Spinelli and I have just finished the book. I can relate to the main character because for one he is around my age. He is also going through changes and growing up. I also relate to him because I like science a lot too. He likes astronomy and I think it's interesting too.

Astephens5,
That sounds like a really good book, I may read it one day!

The book I'm reading is Red Kayak by Priscilla Cummings. I am currently done with the book. I've discovered a very realistic connection. This book may be able to connect to everyone because it's a about tough decisions and all of us have had a few before. However I doubt many have had such serious choices.

ASellers5 said...

@ Awashington2
can you be more specific of how it's like you?

ASellers5 said...

@Spena6
I'm so sorry for your loss :(

My book is Jason's Gold by Will Hobbs. I Just Finished the book and it was really hard to put down. One of the connections is that he is very determined. Even in harsh times he doesn't stop trying to reach his goals. Over the book he struggles to make it through the harsh winter. Although it was hard on him he never stopped.

EJones6 said...

@ jdewitt omg i love that book (kaijons) voice.

twilson2 said...

@SJun2 Yeah sometimes i find myself to be like that. Sometimes i have a strong connection to my belongings even if they are small things and won't stop looking for them.

twilson2 said...

Even though i couldn't really make any relations to that book either, I think it'd be cool to be in Sherlock Holmes shoes. I liked the movie so that probably will encourage me to read this book.

npegg2 said...

twilson2 the main character in your book sounds really perserverant.

npegg2 said...

awahington2 i have read that book before and the rest of the series but that one is one of my favorites.

I am reading A Time To Kill, by John Grisham. I'm on page 201. I have realized that in my book there is a girl that gets raped and beaten by two strangers. In the real world, that seems to be happening a lot. And it's weird how realistic the book seems to be, just like the real world.

pmoreau5 said...

twillson2,

I might read that book if it is as good as you say it is.

pmoreau5 said...

npegg2

that is really ironic.

In my book, Peeled boy Joan Bauer, I am on page 160. A connection between my current book and my life, is that in this book many things are being said that are decieving people. In my life, or the world I currently live in, the media is decieving people, trying to make them believe things that arent's true. Both in the book and in real life the media tries to decieve people to make them see their point of view as correct, and it doesn't seem to be making people very happy. This book is pretty good, I'm almost done and interested to see what happens at the end of the book.

bhoffmann2 said...

jdennis5, how were you framed?

bhoffmann2 said...

snetherland5, I saw that movie! Was the book the same as the movie at all or was it a lot different?

I am reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling; I am currently on page two hundred and seven. So far in the book, Harry has played quidditch through pouring rain and in the worst circumstances that you can think of. He's practiced his heart out with his team in the early morning. Meanwhile, he's still worrying in the back of his mind about Voldemort, his worst enemy and Sirius Black, an escaped prisoner supposedly searching for him. I am like this, but with my flute. I will practice even when I'm running a fever; have a virus, or having a horrible day. I'll practice and practice, sick or healthy, happy or sad, scared or safe.

breeb6 said...

awashington2, I agree, I loved how it made you laugh, how it was formed and how you could relate to it, too. Even though, I don't believe any of us were teased as much as that kid was.

breeb6 said...

jdeihl6, I agree, it would be really difficult to try and relate to that series. Also, it seems like a very interesting and fun series that never bores you.

The book I am reading is "Among the Hidden ". The author of my book is Margaret P. Haddix. I'm on page 153.The connections I see between this book and my life are the number of siblings. Also scared of trying new things because of thinking I would fail.

nmongo2 said...

Scottr5, I also enjoy sport books. It's great to read books that you find entertaining!

nmongo2 said...

Bhoffmann2,I agree the media is always making up things so you would think the worst about someone. You can't always believe what you read because it's not always true.

The book I am currently reading is "Runaway" by Wendelin Van Draanen, I am on page 267. I could find one connection between the main character and me. For example, when Holly(the main character) felt something is wrong or felt bed/good about something, she always wrote a journal and got a strength to solve the situation. And I wright something when I feel confusing about the situation which I have.I think that is the connection of between Holly and me.
Except this, I couldn't find connection between this book and me, but I really felt pity about Holly's life story.

awashington2, I've read that book before and it was fun. I'm sorry taht people did that to you.

crichardson2,I've read all kind of twilight series and it was amazing. I also watched in movies, but I think the book is much better than movies.

Im got done reading Why We Do What We Do by Elizabeth Hall.I can relate to the author of this book because i am interested in phsycology. i like it because she talked about alot of different experiments that were done to test out theories about phsycology.

I was reading Twisted, by Sara Sheppard, a book from the Pretty Little Liars series. I can relate to the book because like Aria, Spencer, Hanna, and Emily, I lost a dear friend as well. Not through death, but I have lost friends before and just like the four girls, it was a rough time in my past, and it can still be hard.

bferguson2 said...

sbogue2,
I love that book and the two shows. :) I really feel like Scarlett handled the whole situation, with having a baby at such a young age, having a mother that pressures her to give the baby up for adoption and losing Michael in a motorcycle crash, really well. She had her best friend Halley around and I feel like Halley helped alot! I hope you liked MY book! ;)

jdewitt6,
that's a great book! Ronnie is such a cool character to learn about, I love it and the movie. I like the connections that you made with the book! Haha, love ya!

The book I'm reading is "The Boy Who Dared", about a young boy in Nazi Germany. I am currently on page 68. I can identfy with Helmuth, because he is my age and I also stay home a lot. I have stong feelings about what is right and wrong. I would have questioned my government if I lived in Germany at that time.

dhileman6 said...

@ Slaw5
That sounds like the same author of "Runaway" I would like to read "Fliped", it sounds good.

Ntburke5 said...

I am reading the book Schooled, the author is Gordon Korman and I am on page 208 which is done with the book. A connection in my life with this book is the bullying issue I see people at school getting bullied by other people and messed with beyond belief. Also in the book there is a boy named Capricorn Anderson and his nick name is cap, and he knows nothing about the real world. All he knows is what he learned at the hippie farm of his with his grandmother at Garland. So he is bullied non stop.

@Awashington2 I loved that book too and it was really funny.

@Jdennis5 Hey we have the same authors for our books and you probably could have added a bit more to your answer.

The book I'm reading now is Nothing to Fear by Jakie French Koller. The protagonist Daniel Tomas Garvey was kinda like me two years ago cause my dad left to go to college to earn more money while my mom stayed and did what she normally does. In the book his dad also leaves but he doesn't come back. And his mom is kinda pale when he leaves. I have already finished the book. I enjoyed the book cause it forms on a journal entry sort of.
