jsandercook2,
You have some good tips in mind!:)
Good luck on the FCAT!!!!:)

cmazza3 said...

My 3 tips or stratagies are:
*Read over the problem twice.
*Read over all of your optional answers and cross out the obviously wrong ones.
*Circle the write answer and double check your work.
Hopefully these stratagies will help you to be successful on the FCAT. Good luck!

cmazza3 said...

jsandercook2,
your tips sound good. Breakfast sounds good right now...

cmazza3 said...

rstraub2,
your tips sound good as well, an empty stomach is very unwise.

There are many strategies i can use. One strategy i can use for the FCAT is read the questions before readinng the passage. I can also go back and triple check my answers. I also can go to bed on time. Also can study each night for the subject the next day.

I have alot of tips for the fcat. One of them is to go to bed early. You need to have a good nights sleep so you will be well rested. Also you need to eat a good breakfast. Then you won't be hungry while you are taking it. The last tip is to look at the answers before you read the passage. Those are my tips for the FCAT!

ebowers4 said...

The three main strategies I use every year for the FCAT are simple and dont require alot of work.
1) Go to bed early. I find if you sleep well and long you are more foccused on the FCAT, not on how tired you are.
2) Eat a good breakfast. If you eat something small or nothing at all, you are going to be very hungry by the time you start FCAT, and thats distracting.
3) Chew gum if the teacher will allow it. It keeps me more foccused and allows me to concentrate more on the test and not other things.

lmehan4 said...

cmazza3,
You have some good tips. I hope I remember to use them.

ebowers4 said...

Rstraub2,
I do those things to! They really help.

Lmehan4 said...

Rstraub2,
We almost have the same tips!

SMOUSHEY04 said...

I would say read the question twice.Go back to the story if needed.Go over your answers if have extra time.Eat breakfeast and go to bed at 12:00 .Study atleast 10 min a day. I wouldnt stress over test because you dont want to be stressed out.

TLand4 said...

My first strategy I will use is to save time by reading the question(s) before the story, so I will know what to look for. My second, strategy I will use is to eat a good breakfast that morning, so i will not be hungry during FCAT; therefore I will also focus more. The third strategy I will use is to get more sleep, by going to sleep earlier. This will benefit, by making me wide-awake for FCAT, therefore I will not fall asleep during FCAT. Getting more sleep will make me understand some of the in-depth questions on FCAT.

ebowers4 said...

lmehan4,
I should try to read the questions and answers before the passage. I have heard it helps.

TLand4 said...

EBowers4,

I agree with all your strategies, as you can see i have two of youurs on mine.

SMOUSHEY04 said...

jsandercook2 Very good ideas. IM GOING TO TRY THEM

TLand4 said...

Jsandercook2,

Studying is a great idea, I've heard the Science part is harder than normal.

hcormack4 said...

To do good on the FCAT, my best advice is to eat a big, nurishing breakfast. Another tip that I can give is to be well rested.Be full of the important facts and to forget everything else, until of course, the test is over. Also you must come prepared to sit down for hours to take this test of your abilities. Personaly I recomend having a pancake for breakfast.

SMOUSHEY04 said...

rstraub2
awesome, yeah everyone has their own way

tkeatley4 said...

The Fcat is a treacherous organization that makes tests to make us men and women under eighteen miserable. They will try to trick you, bore you, and annoy you into scoring under a three or four. There are ways past their evil though! Process of elimination is a risky one, so try to know your info and not guess it. Study real hard and try to ask your teacher if they have a study guide on hand.

Jdean said...

My first tip is to be happy the day of FCAT. I will not be upset that i have to take it because then i would do bad. I will also go to bed earlier than usual. Then i will be well rested and focused for the test. My last strategy will be to eat a good breakfast. My mom always makes me food so i am full of energy.

Jdean said...

hcormack4
I agree.

Jdean said...

smoushey4
It's hard not to be stressed.

kmedero2 said...

There are multiple strategies you can use during the FCAT. One strategie you can use is process of elimanation. There are also mutliple tips you should follow. You should always go to sleep early. You should also eat a big good breakfeast. And lastly you should always go back and check your answers. Following these strategies and tips should help make a good grade on the FCAT.

kmedero2 said...

Rstraub2,
You had some good tips, I might just do those.

kmedero2 said...

cmazza3,
Those sound like wise and good advice!

amonari2 said...

I would definitely say that the first tip to getting the best grade on the FCAT that comes to mind is that you have to stay focused on what you are talking about especially on the short responses because it is very easy to get off topic really fast and i know that i do it all the time. The second tip that i am going to is that you better make sure that you concentrate on what the question is asking you look looking at the NOT'S and the BEST'S and they make them bold and capitalized for a reason s make sure you pay attention to them because i know sometimes i look right passed them and get the questions wrong. Also make sure that you check over your work like the teachers beg and plead you to do because it is that easy to get a question wrong and not take the time to go back and correct the answers that are wrong because in the long run getting done before everyone else isn't always the best thing to do. Sometimes you might think in the middle of a question oh i cant solve this question and you say to yourself i will come back to it later but if you don't go back and look at your questions then you might forget that you didn't do that problem and you will get that problem wrong right off the bat. Sooo just follow these simple steps ad you will just be three steps closer to getting your best grade that you have ever gotten on the FCAT.

amonari2 said...

ebowers4,
hey i think those are great constructive tips

amonari2 said...

rstraub2,
love those tips keep a it

I have three strategies I will use to make sure im successful. The first strategy I will use is to make sure I get to bed early and get atleast 8 hours. Second, I will eat a good breakfast to give me energy for the day. Third, I will bring gum to keep me focused on my test. I will do much much more to pass my test, but I feel it's the little things that matter most.

Mogarro2 said...

@ Rstraub2

Good Advice. Escpecially being on time to school! Most iportant...

Gcosta3 said...

Some of the strategies I use in the FCAT are to read the questions then read the prompt. I also use the re-read technique because it's always good to check you're answer. I also think that it's easy if you read the title because it can probably help you answer some of the questions.I also think it's important to sleep early to get rest. I think you should also eat breakfast because it's the most important meal of the day. I don't usually like the FCAT but I think it's going to be fun this year.

Gcosta3 said...

Rstraub2
I totally agree with you I think you should go to bed early!

Gcosta3 said...

Cmazza3 I think it's also important to cross out all the wrong answer and way your choices I also think it's not good to second guess yourself.

scrossley4 said...

The strategies I am going to use is more rest. Acutally study my Fcat pratice books. I am also going to use my time wisely and not look around, but focus on the fcat book. I not nervous about the Fcat so I think these strateige would be easy to acheive.

scrossley4 said...

Jsandercook, that is some of the things that we have came up with during class. The top two is like mines I plan on doing the same.

scrossley4 said...

Rstraub2, Your stratigies is similar to mines also but I need to study. I think getting more rest is the top stratigies. I also think it is the most important though.

The FCAT is comming up and I'm prepared! I've got some skills for test taking and I'm ready to put them to use. Here are some tips for taking the FCAT. First of all, be confident. Tell yourself that you can do it, a positive way of thinking will get you through the test better than saying you can't do it. A wise man once said "those who think they can, can and those who think they can't, can't." Another tip I like to use for test taking is to read through multiple choice answers, on a reading test, before I read the passage, that way I know what to look for while reading.

EKeck04 said...

RStraub2
Yes! Definetly come to school on time! Make sure you come on time and well prepared.

EKeck04 said...

CMazza03
I do tip number three while I'm taking my tests! I know that helps me to do better.

djohns2 said...

There are three strategies I plan to use to ensure my successes on the FCAT. The first is to go to bed earlier than I usually do (get off Black Ops earlier). The second strategy I have is to stay calm while taking the test, which will really help me, focus. The last strategy I have is to eat a big breakfast in the morning. If I use all of these strategies I will most likely get a 4 or higher on my FCAT!

djohns2 said...

@jsandercook2

I plan to use some of the same strategies as you.

djohns2 said...

@cmazze

Good strategies, I might have to use some of yours also!!

cmartin2 said...

If you want to know some good FCAT strategies, then read this. One thing you can do is eat a healthy breakfest. That will always help you. Another thing you can do is to go to bed early. So you can get pleany of sleep. ANother thing you can do is study.

ccastillo2 said...

Some things i do for fcat is go to sleep eairler . Also i have a good breakfast in the morning. Then during the test i chew gum to me its a stress reliever. Is and just be positive and do your best i know i am.

kyoung2 said...

The fcat is the same thing every year, BORING!. But there are ways to help you be successful. One is going to bed early so you dont come to school with crusty eyes and bad morning breath. Another tip is chew gum to keep your mind stimulated. And lastly try your hardest and do your best.

kyoung2 said...

Rstraub2,
you know you did not put a space between your sentences

DmcBroom said...

The three things I would do to get me ready for the FCAT. Is Going to bed earlier. Eating breakfest. Also a snake in between the FCAT. I would ether study really hard before I take the test. Or I'd just study the days before it.

Twilllams03 said...

Some tips I am going to use for this years FCAT is that i am going to eat a very big breakfast to me on task so i won't think what I will be eating at lunch.Another tip or strategy I am going to use is goping to bed at like ten instead of eleven which will help me stay awoke for the test. Also I am going to look at every single thing we did in the class and try to remember important things like what theme or tone means.I am also going to get on FCAT explorer and try to see how well I do and see if the questions on there will give me an idea of what type of questions will be on the actual FCAT.Another great tip I am going to use is I am going to think about making flashcards and quiz myself. Lastly, another great tip I will use is chewing gum the day of the test since they say chewing makes you concentrate and relax.

Twilliams03 said...

amonari2, I like all of your very many tips and suggestions they really are true.

Twilliams03 said...

cmazza3, great ideas. I hope you come up with some more.

Kfundenburg4 said...

Tip 1: Get lots of sleep the night before.

Tip 2: Eat a big breakfast before taking the FCAT.

Tip 3: Bring a jacket just in case it gets a little chilli in the room.

Kfundenburg4 said...

Lmehan4,
I never have a good breakfast.

lbrown4 said...

1. Wear comfortable clothes when taking the FCAT.

2. Always bring a jacket, blanket, and pillow for after FCAT.

3. Bring extra snacks just in case you get hungry.

These are some of the most important things that I do during FCAT to keep me focused. It actually helps believe it or not.

Kfundenburg4 said...

Jdean4,
Do you really get to school early?

hfundenburg4 said...

I plan to prepare for the FCAT by getting enough sleep, studying a lot, and eating a great breakfast. I want to get enough sleep for FCAT because if you're tired you wont focus. You have to study a lot too if you want to pass the FCAT. Eating a great breakfast will help you a lot, so you wont be distracted by food. Even though the FCAT is rough, if you follow these tips, they will help you during FCAT.

lbrown4 said...

kfundenberg4,
You stole my third tip :) ! I Hope you do well.

hfundenburg4 said...

jsandercook2,
Your tips sound really helpful.

arhoades4 said...

1. You might want to get alot of sleep at night. You don't want to be sleepy and fall asleep during the test.
2. Eat a good breakfast. If you are hungry your stomachs going to grawl and cause a disturbance.
3. Wear comfortable clothing. It would be uncomfortable to sit there in tight clothing.

KBroome04 said...

Taking the FCAT is a big deal and so always get a good night sleep before hand. I also like to use UNRAVEL,which I was taught in 7th grade. Also it may help to read the questions before reading the passage. Also always keep a POSITIVE mind, if you stressing does not help!! I hope the statigies might help you!

KBroome04 said...

ebowers4
Does gum really help?

KBroome04 said...

kmedero2
Great tips. I forget about the process of elimanation. Thanks

skim4 said...

These are my strategies: 1. Go to bed early. 2. Don't hesitate to ask teachers or parents if there is anything uncertain. 3. Study as planed and scheduled.

aquest4 said...

The FCAT is next week but I think with my tips I'll be prepared in no time. First, I will be using the notes I get from my teachers and review. Next, I will get enough sleep the night before so I can focus on the test. Finally, I will chew gum during the test to focus instead of looking around the classroom. Even though I am nervous about the FCAT I believe with motivation I can get an excellent grade.

aquest4 said...

cmazza3,

I bet those tips will help someone a lot. :)

aquest4 said...

jsandercook2,

I think you will do great with those tips!

ccastillo2 said...

djhons2
yea thats true

ccastillo2 said...

jsandercook2
i think im going to do that thanks for the tip

Nfrank2 said...

Some of my stratagies I will use in FCAT is to read the directions and read all the choices. Next I would go to sleep earlier and eat breakfast. I would also look through my notebooks to reivew for FCAT. Next, I would make sure i get to school one time. I would try to not be so nervouse. The last thing I would answer all the questions I know first then go back.

nreed2 said...

Some strategies i would and will might is go to sleep early which is about twelve or twelve-thirty. I never eat breakfast so thats off. But i will stay focused on school and do my best to get at least a four on all of the subjects. Studying yes i know i should do that and i'll try. Because staying in the 8th grade would suck. You know it would seem like whole entire year of your life was wasted.

ayoung3 said...

LMehan4,
What do you think is the best breakfast?

ayoung3 said...

RStraub2,
I think going to sleep earlier is one of the most important as well.

ncurtis3 said...

Some stategies I plan on using are going to bed on time, eating a good breakfast, and eliminating wrong answers. Going to bed on time will probably be hard for me. I love to stay up but I will have to go to sleep to be prepared for the FCAT. I know my mom will make a great breakfast for me on FCAT days, because she knows how important it is for me to do good. When I get the test I will use the eliminating wrong answer stategie to make sure I get the right answer.

ncurtis3 said...

Rstraub2,
Nice stategies.

Some tips that I would have for taking the Fcat is that you should always read the whole question and answer. You may think it says something else but it doesn’t. Also, if you don’t know an answer to one of the question than you should skip it and come back to it. Or you can’t take an educated guess. If you know that one of the answers isn’t right than cross it out. Then go from there.

sdeemer2 said...

abonacci4 said...

some strategies for FCAT can be easy. One strategy that is easy is eating breakfast. You could stop and get breakfast on your way to school or you could go to the cafeteria and eat. another strategy could be to go to bed early. you don't have to go to bed at 7 pm or any thing just like an hour or so earlier than normal. Also studying a little bit wouldn't kill you, Just study a few minutes a day or enough to where you won't forget anything you need to know.

abonacci4 said...

Some strategies I'm going to use for the FCAT are going to bed early every night. I'm going to get a good breakfast every morning before school. I'll go over the vocabulary we went over all week. Some things I may do if I need to relax during the FCAT are to read the question at least twice before answering it. Go back and look over the passage to find the answer. Last is to take your time an don't rush throug it.

Bwalton2 said...

Kmedero2,

Eswanson4 said...

We all know the FCAT can be pretty tricky. One way to avoid misunderstanding is simple... read ALL of the question at least twice and watch out for key words such as: the BEST answer. Also something that always helps me when I am confused and stressed over a question is taking deep breathes from the abdomen. Make sure you eat breakfast and get a good sleep it actually really helps you stay focused.

Eswanson4 said...

Aquest4~
Yeah, gum is a great way to stay focused on the test

Eswanson4 said...

Rstraub2~
Hope you do good on the FCAT, good luck!

sosman4 said...

The stratgities I will be using are: Reading the questions first so you know what your looking for, Underlining important pieces of the article, process of elimination, and rereading the passage. These will help me pass.:)

Sosman4 said...

Ayoung3

Good idea. you have to rest up before taking any big test along with eating a good breakfast.

sosman4 said...

cmazza3

That's what I'll be doing.

aouellette3 said...

Strategies I'll be using is the breathing technique we used in class this week. Taking deep slow breaths will help me relax and re focus. Another thing I'll use to help me on the FCAT is re reading anything i am unsure of. This will give me a second time to rethink my answers as well. I'll tell myself it's only another test and try not to stress so much. Good luck to everyone!

aouellette3 said...

amonari2,
I'm going to use some of your tips. Thanks for those!

aouellette3 said...

kmedero2,

I use process of elimination all the time. Good luck!

tirwin3 said...

For the FCAT their is really nothing to be worried about. If I keep some tips in my mind that help me stay relaxed i'll do absolutly great. One tip is all I have to do is stay calm, cool, and collected. I wont worry about doing poorly because every teacher has been doing their best to teach me the best way to get my highest acheviement. As long as I have been paying attetention in class I will do the best I can do. Another tip is I wont get worked up everyone feels the same way as I do about the FCAT, so if I talk to my peers about it I can relieve some stress. Last but not least, another good tip would be for me to eat a good breakfast before I get to school because, scientist have proven that eating a good breakfast gets the mind thinking. :)

tirwin3 said...

jsandercook2,

One strategy I plan on using for the Fcat is eating a good breakfast. I don't want to go to school starving and not be focused while taking the test. Another strategy is elimanate wrong answers. If I do that it will narrow down my choices for answers. The last strategy I am going to use is going back and checking over my answers before I am done with the test.

jblumer3 said...

FCAT is a very stressful time for many students. But if you don't think about it and just get a good start, you should do fine. One tip I use is to go to bed early. You should make sure you get a good night sleep so that you don't fall asleep during the FCAT and get the test taken away. The second tip I use is to make sure you have a good breakfast. You want to have a healthy but energizing breakfast. I usually make eggs, bread, and orange juice. The third tip I use is to have a good dinner. If you eat well at night, have a good night sleep, and have a great breakfast, you should be totally fine on the FCAT. I want to say good luck to everyone and follow these tips!

asheehan3 said...

hfundenburg4,
Your plan sounds great! I will have to do the same thing!

asheehan3 said...

mbooth3 said...

The FCAT is going to happen no matter what so my number one tip for everyone is to stay relaxed. Think of the FCAT as a normal everyday test and don't freak out about it. Taking deep breaths before and after the FCAT can help this. Another tip is to read the questions carefully, as there are usually trick questions involved with the FCAT. Underlining key words in the FCAT can help with this. Lastly, as I am sure everyone has said, BE ON SCHOOL AT TIME! If you are late to school, you have to take a make-up FCAT, which is no fun. If you don't stress out about the FCAT and try to remember everything teachers have taught you, you're sure to do fine!

mbooth3 said...

asheehan3,
I never thought about eating a good dinner the night before, that's pretty clever.

mbooth3 said...

ayoung3,
I hope you have enough time to triple check your answers because that would be very wise. You'd be sure to pass!

tanzina2 said...

2 or more tips which I am going to use to make sure I am successful on my FCAT. Different pupils have different opinions and I have mine. First and foremost I'LL HAVE HEATHY breakfast every morning and go to bed as early as possible instead of lately. Stop using cell phone, watching TV, LISTENING to music etc & keep studying as long as I think I'm ready for it. Hope this simple things will work because so far I have used same methods for my exams and I had earn goog grades what I always wanted ! Hope this time it does work!

tanzina2 said...

I like jsandercook2 strategies she/he on using for the fcat !

djknowles3 said...

I have learned alot of stratigies over the years of taking FCAT. Some include getting a good nights rest, you will need to ne well rested for the test. Another is always eat a good breakfast, your brain will need to concentrate so give it some energy. The last is always have a number 2 pencil, not a number 1 or 3! These are just the basics of the test takeing stratigies, there are still tons of others.

Rstraub2 said...

ebowers4,
They sound like good tips! :)
Good luck

One tip I think would be good for the FCAT, is going to sleep earlier than you usually do. I say this because you wouldn't want to go to sleep while testing because you went to sleep too late and don't get to finish your test. Another tip that would be good is to get a good breakfast every morning. I say this because you wouldn't want to get hungry and get distracated because your stomach hurts from not eating. You want to be well rested and not hungry when you take the FCAT.

choner2 said...

@jsandercook2
Your Strategies are very good for the FCAT.

choner2 said...

@Rstraub2,
I thought about the same things, Good tips.

jbills3 said...

I am going to post three tips I use to be successful on the FCAT (which I've never taken before. The first tip is: Process of Elimination. You find what you know for a fact is wrong and take it away leaving 3 or 2 answers left. My second tip is guess. If you don't know, guess. I usually guess B since my last name is Bills and I'm cool like that. The third tip is to bubble in C and then erase it, then bubble in B, then erase it. Scan-tron might mark B or C as the answer, giving you two chances to get it right. Those are my tips. Please contact me about donations opportunities, this is my full time job and must feed my family. Thank you.

some stratigies for Fcat are, tatking deep breaths, having a good breakfast and gettigna good night sleep. having a good breafast starts your day off good and helps your thinking procces. along with with breathing statigies slows down your heart rate and keeps you calm.this morning in reading Fcat i used breathing stratigies to calm down and relax.

One tip that everyone should do is eat a good brekfast. By doing this you will feel and do better. another tip is to do a review on all your work to make sure you have not forgot anything. This will improve score. The last tip is to relax. This will reduce stress.

Some strategies that you can use right before the FCAT are,Taking deep breaths, and/or stretching. Taking deep breaths will allow to focus, and be ready. Also it will help you if you are anxious or nervous. Stretching might make you more calm before the test so it will be easier to maintain focus. There are plenty of strategies that you can use before the FCAT.

Jsandercook good ideas.

Some tips on the fcat are to eat a good breakfast in the morning. You also need to read the questions before reading the story. Some people like to chew gum while taking the test because the gum distracts you from the distractions. Sucking on a mint helps you stay awake while taking the test. Getting a good night sleep the night before will help you stay awake for the test.

jsandercook2: Sounds like some good strategies.

rstraub2: I might use those.

The Fcat is just one big mind game. They try to make us freak out about it but i have found out some tips to help you. One of my favorites is to eliminate. Another one is to take deep breathes. You can also have a good breakfeast.

jsandercook2,

There are many strategies I'm going to use for preparing for FCAT. One is getting a good nights sleep. Being tired during the FCAT makes it harder to concentrate. I will also eat breakfast every morning. I don't usually eat breakfast and thats probably why its so hard to focus in school. I'm also going to read all the questions before I read the passage.

The FCAT is definitley a game. But you have to let it come to you. One of my strategies is to eliminate answers that I know are wrong. Another strategy is to read the questions first before the story. Thats how I am going to pass the FCAT

A couple of stratigies I use for the FCAT are studying and relaxing the day before so I'm not stressed out. I also go to sleep somewhat earlier so I'm not tired. I eat brekfast that way I'm not hungry during the test because it's really annoying when your sitting there and you cant eat anything. This year before the test I did the breathing excercises that we did in class a couple of days ago.
Thats basically it.

gfleck said...

cmazza3,
I always forget to read the question more than once.

ACepeda3 said...

The fcat is not to diffcult for me. But I will have to go over the things they may ask like author purpose and unsderlining. during the Fcat I am going to bed earlier by 2 hours. I have been trying to eat breakfast too. During the acctual test I will calm myself down so I can focus well.

Some stratigies I plan on using for the FCAT include going to bed earlier and eating a nice healthy breakfast. I think going to bed earlier will help me in the morning to have an alert mind. Eating a good breakfast will help me concentrate better because I won't be hungry. I hope to get all 5's for my FCAT scores.
