I haven’t been at Fort Clark very long so I don’t have a lot to say. One of my favorite things to do was watching the movie remember the Titians and hang out with class mates afterwards and talk about it, although most the time we got off track and had to be reminded multiple times to talk about the movie. Shakespeare is alright I guess just a little confusing and having to remember Tatiana’s speech kicked my butt at times. I think my least favorite thing to do in reading class was tests, never was very good at them and I’m still not. Next year a way I should improve is by staying on track and organizing because I haven’t been and another good thing would to probably do my homework.

One of my favorite parts of reading class had to have been Remember The Titans. I really liked that movie and I think everyone else did too. I also enjoyed watching A Midsummer Night's Dream. It really helped me understand Shakespeare more than I did before. My least favorite part of this year was when Ms. Meyer left. She was a huge help and a great teacher. Next year I will improve by reading more. I feel like I slacked on the books I read throughout the year.

I can honestly say I have never had a reading class that I have enjoyed as much as this one. The activites are very fun. Some of my favorite times were when we watched Remember The Titans. I also really like the Shakespear works we have been doing. It is so much fun and quite fun. The only thing I think could be improved is to maybe have some more extra credit options.
@jsmith4 totally agree !!
@sbarry great work !!!

My favorite part of reading class this year has been the Shakespeare unit. I love this unit because it is very fun and interesting. I also enjoyed watching Remember the Titans, because it was a nice way to relax and because it was a very enjoyable movie. My least favorite part of this year was the Harlem Renaissance because I found it to not so fun. We had to do tons of work in that unit and it wasn't enjoyable. If we would have done more fun things with the unit it would have been more interesting.

My most favorite part of the year was after Ms. Myers left. I didn't like her way of teaching especially with extenuated due date times. I don't want to lose my trait of turning things in on time, but she was babying us like we were third graders. She would make things easier and I like challenges when learning. That is why this part of the year when she left was fun. My least favorite part about this year besides Ms. Myers teaching was the Harlem Renaissance unit. I did not like the Harlem Renaissance unit because there was tons of tedious work; the work was never hard but there was so much it was overwhelming. The work was boring as well.

One of my favorite parts of the year was watching Remember The Titans. I really liked the movie it was my favorite one of the year. I also enjoyed that we didn't have as much of homework as other classes had. The major thing I didn't like was the compare and contrast essays. Another thing I didn't like was the Socratic Seminars. The only think that could've been improved would be having more extra credit options for kids who need it.

My favorite part of reading class this year was doing the Socratic seminar's
Because it was fun discussing about the stories we read with the class.And I also liked the titania speech which was fun and interesting and the Shakespeare unit with watching the "A midsummer night's dream" movie that was really entertaining.The least favorite I didn't really like in the year was doing essays on the Harlem Renaissance because you have to write a lot.And the reading class can be improved by having less essays and that's mostly it cause there's not really much to change.Also next year you should give more extra credit.

I have been in this reading class the entire year, so I’ve had the whole experience. I have to say, group work would have to be my least favorite because there are some students that play around and laugh the entire time, and it drives me crazy. I don’t want to get a bad grade because some students don’t take their work as seriously as I do. Also not all of us work at the same pace, so its kind of difficult to work in groups. My most favorite would be watching movies. I love watching movies and just the comfort of watching them makes me really happy and I just love watching them in a classroom because the screen is so much bigger.
@SBarry
I love watching movies ,too!
@JSmith4
I enjoyed that movie as well.

My favorite part about this year’s Reading Class would be that we have more responsibility. We get to pick what independent reading project we wanted and didn’t have a teacher tell us what to do. I also liked how we got to pick our own books that we wanted to read because everyone has different tastes. Also when we watched the movies they were always interesting and fun. My least favorite thing about this Reading Class would probably be when we learned about the Harlem Renaissance. I didn’t like the poems we had to read because I didn’t really understand them.

@jsmith4- I agree!
@shenderson4- Me too!

My absolute favorite part of this year was definitely remember the Titans. Everyone in the classroom loved it and it was so funny. The Shakespeare unit was pretty awesome cause of Titanias speech. I was nervous at first and as soon as I got up to say the speech I forgot the first line. Anyways I have had a ton of fun this year with everyone in this class and I am going to miss it.

dwrask3 said...

@jsmith4 same!!!!

@sbarry I loved that too!!

This has been a very fun class. While i don't like all the presentations I would say my favorite part is the projects. The IR projects are somewhat easy if you have read a book while still testing your knowledge. My favorite project was the controversial heroes one. I thought that was a cool idea and it was fun to research and I really like power points.

@jsmith4 I liked that movie

@hwerther3 I liked ms. meyers but I can see what you're saying

My favorite part was when we were reciting Titania's speech. Some students in my period did an amazing job. Other students, just made the class laugh. I'm not going to call names or anything, but those students, well you know who you are. My least favorite part about reading was also Titania's speech. I was very nervous, when it comes to standing in front of the class, I am not the guy.

csbarton3 said...

great job. @jsmith4

Same for me. I have not been at the school long either. @sbarry

My favorite part of this reading class has definitely been this entire Shakespeare section. I've really enjoyed every minute of it. Reciting the speech, watching the movie, reading it out loud all has been fun. I love A Midsummer Night's Dream. It's such a beautiful piece of literature. My least favorite part of reading class this year has been testing because I hate the nervousness I feel when I receive the test. To improve for next year I will definitely work harder at staying on top with turning in assignments. I will definitely strive for an easy A next year!

@amountain4 : Great blog response!

My favorite parts of the year was when we saw Remember The Titans. I really liked the movie, and I believe the upcoming years would also enjoy it. I also enjoyed that we didn't have as much of homework as other classes had which helped me with time for all of my sports and family time. The major thing I didn't like was the compare and contrast essays, and another thing I didn't like was the Socratic Seminars. The only think that could be improved for further years would be having more extra credit opportunities for kids who need it, and the ones who don't. Another thing that would have more people enjoying and passing your class with great grades would be like homework passes or even essay passes if they do or earn something.

I enjoyed reading class. Titania's speech was interesting and pretty funny. I loved the movie Remember The Titans. That movie was great and it was my favorite thing. Also, I don't like blogs, but i know there mandatory anyways. Currently, Shakespeare is confusing and sometimes I don't understand. I've always wanted to learn Shakespeare though. My least favorite part were the practice tests, because most of the time I got bad grades on them. Next year I need to improve by reading more books and turning my work in on time.

My favorite part of reading class this year would probably have to be the shakespeare. The reason is because I really like watching plays and stuff like that and it was cool to hear the way people used to talk. My least favorite part of reading is probably the part where we had to get up in front of the class. I have always been afraid of getting up there and talking. Next year to improve that I will try to be more confident and maybe I will get better.

My favorite part in reading class, were the groups (when we could choose them). My least favorite part in the class was doing the Harlem lesson how she taught it, so it came kind of dull through the head. Other than that I liked going to reading class because reading is fun and could also bring different things towards you. The class can be improved by not reading the books that be under the desk I believe that you can learn and all and different types of way, guess I was just not a fan of them books. Your class is awesome especially the decorations.

My favorite memory of this class was just relaxing and watching movies. Especially the "Remember The Titans" movie. That movie was very fun to watch, and it was exciting. Another fun moment was the Titanias speech performance because some people made it funny. Over all i definitely agree that this class and the rest of my classes has prepared me for 9th grade big time. I will improve next year by studying for tests and quizzes.

@rcortes2, Good luck in highschool!

@kmanderino5, Remember the titans was a good movie!

One of my favorite parts of reading class would probably be watching Remember the Titans. I also liked the binder tests because they were an easy quiz grade :). My least favorite part about reading class was learning about the MLK letter to the Clergymen. I just thought it was a little boring to me. A way to fix that would be to have more fun activities that relate to the letter or make the letter less boring.

One of my favorite parts of reading class has been all the presentations we have done. I like them because its really fun and funny when someone goes up to present something. One thing i didn't like would be the shakesphere's story. I dont like that because its too hard to translate shakesspheres words. Something i think should be approved would be the IR reading projects, they should be more simple.

One of my favorite parts of the year is when we got to watch "Remember the Titans". The movie was great, the notes were easy, and it took a few days to watch too, so it was just a full week of a movie. It was great because after 3 periods it's nice to have a break and then lunch right after. My least favorite part of the year was the Harlem renascence unit. It was filled with so much work it was overwhelming, had some of the most uninteresting topics, and over all was an awful time in class. That unit honestly made me not look forward to reading class.
@kmoore3 Good job!

My favorite part of reading was watching remember the titans. I liked watching the movie because it was on topic of what we were going over in class, and it also was a modern and Hollywood movie so it was fun to watch. I also liked the way we did vocab quizzes on the clickers, it seemed to be easer then doing it on paper. When we did it on the smart board it felt more of a lesson or something we were learning other then a test or quiz. My least favorite thing was when Mrs. Meyer was our teacher, I dint really like the way she taught, she could also could be really rude at times and certain Questions we asked her she would get really aggravated.

My favorite part of reading class is when we did group projects. They taught us to work together and have fun in the process.We also interacted with each other a lot making the class much easier. One of my least favorite parts is when Ms. Meyer left and the fire drills during class.Overall those problems can't really be fixed I enjoyed this school year at Fort Clarke.
@ddavis5 I also loved Remember the Titans.
@hwerther3 i agree i didn't like Ms.Meyers teaching Harlem Renaissance time was kind of tight.

My favorite part of this year in reading was watching Remember The Titans. I also liked Ms. Meyer. Some things I didn't like was it was not a novel based class and I enjoy reading novels. But other than that this has been one of my favorite classes because of the hilarity of the people.

My favorite part about this year was making our own songs. The first song that we did was where we picked a melody and a message, and the second was with the characters in A Midsummer Night's Dream. I also really enjoyed watching Remember the Titans. My least favorite part was doing the FSA practices.I might have enjoyed them more if they had more interesting stories. I could improve next year by doing my homework on time.

My favorite part of this year by far was the judging on the spunk case. It was super fun to work with my team and develop theories on the case and presenting them was super fun. I also liked being on top of things, being in a position where i can judge who's right or wrong was a fun challange. My least favorite part was probably working on the IR projects. My favorite moment in reading class this year is at the beginning of the year when we didn't really know each other because we had a lot of laughs and shared a lot about each other and got to know each other. I also liked that we had a cool bond and not many problems. What I really didn't like about class was when ms. Meyers was there because she didn't teach or explain the way to really get the hang of it. Another thing I don't like about reading class is projects because they take to much of your grades and they are just to much. Reading was never my favorite class. Never has been and never will be. But I will admit, this year has been the funniest reading class I've ever had. My favorite part of reading class was watching Remember the Titans and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I just love relaxing and having the freedom to sit on the floor with my best friends. My least favorite part is doing the FSA pratices because they were really hard and brought down my grade. If we didn't do that, it would actually be much more fun and I would enjoy her class a lot more. Also, for some reason, I get distracted when I'm with a bunch of people I don't want to sit with. So I end up passing notes and shouting across the room to get their attention. So if we got to choose our seats, then I would get a better grade.

I would have to say that my favorite part of the year was the Shakespeare unit, specifically the scene reenactment group project. I didn’t really like that we had to work in groups, though I understand that we had to, because some people didn’t contribute like they were supposed to, but I really loved that we were allowed to make the scene our own. The fact that we were allowed to edit the lines and make our own costumes really outweighed the little bit of negative that came from working with lazier people, and made this one of my favorite parts of the year. I would have to say that my least favorite part of the year was the Harlem Renaissance unit. I found this unit boring and we didn’t do any really fun projects that made up for the boring topic. I can’t say that you should get rid of the unit, because you have to go over it, but you could add in a cool project or activity to make the unit a little more fun.

Shenderson4: Nice job! I completely agree that working in groups is annoying.

My favorite thing in class I would have to say would most likely be Remember the Titans. Honestly I think that Mrs.A Thomas should play that every year for her eighth graders because I can guarantee that her class will love it! The thing that i honestly liked the least was Titania's speech that was extremely difficult and gave me a hard time. Hopefully I can say that I've definitely made good friends with the people in 3rd period. But the fact that Mrs. A Thomas has watched us all and cheered us on was the best thing i could've got throughout my 8th grade career!

My favorite part of this year in your reading class was one of the more recent things, reading A Midsummer Night’s Dream and then watching the movie. It was also pretty fun when we had to act out a scene from the play and wear ‘costumes’. Though I didn’t really like it when we had to do Binder Tests, because I already know how much of a mess I am and I just stuff things into my backpack and hope that they are still there when I get home. I did manage to get a good grade on them somehow and that was pretty exciting to me. Personally I don’t really know how I could improve the class for next year.

My favorite part of this years reading class has been trying to remember Titania's speech. I would spend like the last 15 minutes of 5th period saying it to someone else in my next class. It's crazy how I can remember a song after listening to it twice. Yet, I can't seem to remember a small portion of a speech. I really liked doing Shakespeare in general too. Especially how everyone thought the decoding quiz was complicated and I did not.

@hwerther3 That is interesting, but I agree with her extensions and spending forever on things.

My favorite part of Reading Class this year was watching the movie 'Remember the Titans.' I really liked the movie and answering the questions. Also, I loved the movie 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.' The movie was easy to understand the story than the book and it was funny. The least favorite part of Reading Class this year was memorizing the Titania's speech and presenting it to the class. The speech was confusing and it made me nervous to present. Overall it was a great year, I loved this class.

@amountain4 Nice job! I agree.

My favorite part about this class was all of the different activities we were able to do. I think that brought our class together because you were with a new group of people every time. That always made me look forward to class. My least favorite part about the year was when we learned about the Harlem Renaissance. That was my least favorite part because it felt like we were doing the same thing over and over again.

I enjoyed most of the reading year. Some of my favorite parts were where we did Shakespeare and I cant wait to act it out soon. I mostly enjoyed the blogs because they were a quick and easy way to show you we are reading. Some things I didn't like is when we had our intern. (Ms. Meyer) No offence to her but she did not further my learning career in any way and was not very pleasant. (Not to be too rude) I also slightly disliked the seating but I understand you did it to help us. Furthermore, I think you have done a great job this year teaching and I hope you will teach many kids in the future.

P.S:Do an end of the year raffle please.

@Sbarry good job on summarizing key points.
@jsmith4 nice job and I hope you reach your goals in the future.

One of my most favorite parts in Reading was probably the Midsummer Night's movie. I had figured out that my favorite kind of movies and book genres are action/comedy/romance. I had always tried to avoid these kind if movies because I was afraid of getting made fun of. But anyway, (getting off the subject) One of my least favorite parts of Reading was...really, I had no problem doing anything in that classroom. I don't think that this class has to improve.

To jsmith4,
Midsummer Night's Dream was my favorite too! Great Blogpost.

I'm reading The Compound and on page 67, author is S.A. Bodeen. My favorite part or moment in reading class was the activity at the beginning of the school year. It was a bit confusing at first then i went crazy with ideas for the topic. I can remember it vividly since it was the time i got introduced to my classmates. I meet for the first time classmates that i would talk to and sit down next to for months to come. This moment could only be improved with a sweet solution. Cookies and cupcakes the first day of school.
sbarry: Nice job on how to be improved.

jsmith4: Nice moment, I enjoyed the movie two.

My favorite moment in class this year was watching "Remember the Titians". It was my favorite moment because everyone had a fun time watching it. My least favorite time in class this year, was when Mrs. Meyers was here. The reason it was my least favorite part of the year is because I was not very good at comprehending her teaching. I always dozed off while she was teaching and did no work. And That's when my grades started to slip up. Next year can be improved by giving less projects haha.

This year has been super fun for reading and I've really liked all the fun ways we've learned. Shakespeare is definitely my favorite though! It's been so fun preparing for the play(It's tomorrow!) and can't wait to see the final product. Titania's speech was pretty hard but to be honest I did it pretty well even with my low expectations. I can't say the Harlem Renaissance was my favorite, but that's probably because the class was just wasn't the same when we had our intern. I'm gonna miss this class a bunch and it's been so much fun! Thanks Ms.Thomas! Last blog yes!

@jsmith4 I also liked Remember the Titans! Even though I missed a lot of it when I was sick.

@zgraham24 I forgot the Socratic Seminar! That was tons of fun! It's always fun when you get points for arguing with classmates.

My most favorite part of reading class were the blogs because they were quick and easy to boost up your grade. Blogs help increase your grade a lot if you do them or if you do them early when they are given out. My most least favorite part of reading class were the IR projects because they were too much work. The IR projects took a lot of work to do. What I can do to improve this is to be more motivated to do them.

Great response on your blog @sbarry

Great response and well done on your blog @jsmith4

My favorite part of reading class was all the projects. Not the projects itself but the points that we were able to get from them. All of the presentations were funny and some were very impressive. My least at all just keep doing what your doing. Next

My favorite part of this year I would have to be the A Summer Nights Dream with Blake and Jayden. That was tons of fun. Assigning, planning and performing were all a blast. Its still awesome how we got to get it recorded. Another thing was the Socratic Seminar that was also fun. I remember almost anyone who talked i disagreed with them then went against there argument. This year was very memorable sad it has to come to an end. To improve id do more Socratic seminars and projects make it creative. I forgot about Ms.Meyer!

My favorite part of reading class was watching a movie. I like how we would do an assignment then watch a movie after that. The worst part of reading class was the FSA practice test. The reason it was the worst was because it was harder than the real thing. A way we can improve reading class next year is by increasing the number of times the class watches a movie.

My favorite part of reading class would have to be the different debates that we had. The topics were interesting for the most part. When our 5th period class started to debate we didn't want to stop until we said the conversation was over, so we didn't like being timed because we wanted the point to get across.My least favorite part of reading class would have to be reciting Titania's speech. We had a while to study it but I don't like having to speak in front of people so it's more of my personal opinion.

Last Blog of your Middle School Career!!!
Please tell us what has been your favorite part, or moment of Reading Class this year and what has been your least favorite part of Reading Class and how it can be improved for next year. Remember your response must be at least 5 sentences and contain correct grammar and punctuation. Also, do not forget to comment on at least 2 other responses.

My favorite part of middle school year in reading class has been working in groups and stuff. My least favorite thing has been presenting presentations. Next year you should let the kids decide if they want to present their project or not. But Reading class has been awesome this school year and learning about Shakespeare, and watching the movie Midsummer Night Dream and reading the book. Reading class is fun!

@Amfarlin5
Great job on your blog!

My favorite part of reading class was the seminars. It was so much fun getting in arguments with other students and not get in trouble. My least favorite part are the blogs, because we have to do them every other Monday. We only had one, but one of the best. I'm gonna miss are class, because I feel like we connected, but it was a great year.

My favorite part/moment of Reading Class this year is when Ms.Myer came to the class and when we did the Socratic seminar. My least favorite part is when we had to present projects and other things to the class. Another thing is when we had to do the compare and contrast essays. It can be improved next year by adding more Socratic seminars. And by not having to present a lot of projects, etc because not many students like doing that and mess up a lot. Also don't do the compare and contrast essays because not everything was clear in comparing and contrasting the stories.

jperkins5 great response

I’ve attended Fort Clarke Middle school from 6th through 8th grade. Lately this school year has been awesome. My favorite part of reading class was learning and reading Shakespeare , I also love how we had to split up in groups and write a song about “ midsummer night dream “ .The story was interesting and had very funny and crazy twists to it . But there was one thing I didn’t like, it was the fact that we had mini projects .mini projects made a big decrease in my grade percentage, it also was something I forgot about which made it hard to keep a high average. But so far I will always Miss Fort Clarke middle school

In Mrs.Thomas reading class I have had the most exciting moments.My favorite part of her reading class is when Mrs.Myer was there and she helped me a lot.My least favorite part of reading class is the independent reading we had to do and the projects.Reading in middle school was a little challenging but i know now that high school reading will be harder.Also the "Midnight Summer Dream" was very fun and exciting.

This Middle School year has been great. My favorite part of this year was the Shakespeare play performances. They made for a great laugh and interactive learning opportunity. One thing that can be improved is the amount of interactive activities throughout the year. This last year of Middle School was by far the best.
@5aparker awesome blog!
@azwilliams I feel the same way. Great blog!

My favorite part of reading class has been when we watched "Remember the Titans". It was a really good movie and I'm pretty sure almost everyone enjoyed watching it. However just getting to be in the same class as some of my friends was a really good thing. My least favorite is when we had to memorize Titania's speech, it's a little hard when you get nervous when presenting to the class. Overall though, this has been one of my favorite reading classes I've had yet.

My favorite part of your reading class was when we had group work, or work altogether as a class. I liked that because it helped me read better, and have conversations with people. One part I didn't like was when we had to work alone. I didn't like that because it's much harder for me to read and comprehend a passage or answer questions on my own. Something that can be improved, I actually don't know because I loved this reading class, I just didn't like working alone at times. But other than that, I loved this class.

My favorite part of reading class has been the blogs. I think this because they provide a fun, and challenging assignment almost every week. Not just that but you can support somebody else's blog. My least favorite part may have been vocab boxes. Simply because they take a long time and they are not fun.

My favorite part of Reading class was watching A Midsummer Nights Dream. It was awesome watching the movie and acting out some of the parts from the play. There is nothing to improve your class, it is fun just the way it is. The only thing I would say is getting more interns. It was really fun having the intern helping you.
