You should get a lot of sleep the week before FCAT so you can get into the habbit of going to sleep early. You should also not freak out especially durring the test. Studying also helps you. You should go over all of your work.
These are all tips that will help you on the FCAT.

ejones6 said...

What I will do to win their game is I will make sure that I get good amounts of sleep. I will also make sure that I eat good (as I already do). Some strategies that I will use are stress busters, yoga, and I will drink monster energy drinks. I will also refresh my memory with things that I have learned from my last part of 7th grade and my beginning of 8th grade years. I will make sure that I have my phone in my back pack that is not in my reach. Ooh... and I will be speechless that day. HOPEFULLY!!!

One tip that always helps me is to slow down and take my time and read the question carefully. Also something that will help me on the FCAT is to chew gum this helps me focus on the task at hand.I like to eat a big meal befor I go to school that day.And last is i like to go to bed befor a certian time in order to be as focased and aleart as possible.

First tip: get a good night's sleep, you don't want to do a test restless. Second tip: take your time, FCAT dosn't grade how fast you can answer questions, it grades the correct answers. Third tip: eat a good breakfast, what you eat determines how well you'll do throughout the FCAT. The strategy I suggest is "process of elimination," as in looking at answers that arn't likely for the question. Good luck with the FCAT!

awilson2 said...

FCAT is probably going to be hard, but these strategies are going to make it easy. One strategy I will use is to read the question very carefully, also to read all the questions before reading a passage. A tip for me is to eat a good breakfast and get a good night sleep the day before the FCAT. If I follow these tips and strategies I will do great on the FCAT.

tgarrison2 said...

The first tip is get a good nights sleep you dont want to be tired when you take the FCAT. The second tip is dont get distacted you dont want to waste any time. The third and final tpi is dont look at the clock because you might try to hurry and finish or you will go to slow because you think you have a lot of time. I think these tips will help you do good on the FCAT. Good Luck.

awilson2 said...

@ drumore2-I agree with your tips. :)

awilson2 said...

@ tgarrison2- I agree with your tips and they are good ones that I will follow. (;

Stratigies for the fcat are to look over your answers. Have a great breakfest. Chew gum during test. Take your time. Never cheat off of someone else's test.

abeatty5 said...

I plan to eat a large and good breakfast in the morning. Also probubly to get a good sleep that night as well. Studying before hand on past lessons. And having gum while i am taking the test. That is how i will prepare for the fcat.

abeatty5 said...

good planning jdennis5

jdennis5 said...

tgarrison has great tips.

aperez5 said...

The first tip is always getting a good night sleep. This helps give you the energy needed to take on the FCAT. The second tip is getting a good breakfast, it the fuel to keep you going and make mostly the right questions if you can. The third tip is always relieve your self from the nervousness like streching, chewing gum, Play a relaxing game etc. and don't try something that will tire you because then you will have no energy for the FCAT. I hope that helps on what you need to do to prepare for the FCAT.

zphillips5 said...

What i do to study is a relax the last two days i relax but study all before that. I also eat breakfest and make sure to stay hydrated. but most imprtantly I don't get stressed!

Ahowell5 said...

One of my study habits for the Fcat is to eat a good breakfast and drink alot of water. this helps stimulate your brain and have energy to take the test. I think taking your time is a good way to get problems right. Another way is to get alot of sleep so you are well rested for your test. Just rember to relax and do your best.

zphillips5 said...

aperez5 ill do that!

jdennis5 said...

ahowell has a great plan for the fcat.

abeatty5 said...

awilson2 i agree with your tips

zphillips5 said...

ahowell i do some of those

aperez5 said...

@ejones6
You have some great tips

@awilson
I agree with your tips

lmartniez5 said...

You should make sure your well rested the night before the fcat and to have a nice nutritional dinner. While taking the fcat test you should read the questions before you start reading the passage. You should have a healthly breakfast and have a positive additude while taking the fcat.

AStephens5 said...

I believe that in order to be successful in the FCAT you have to have good test taking stragies. Getting plenty of sleep and having a good breakfast will keep you awake and fuel your brain. While taking the FCAT you should eliminate wrong answers and always double check. I have done that with every test I've ever taken and its helped me so far. You should always prepare your self and review material that may be on the FCAT. Though this test is very nerve-wrecking you shouldn't get too nervous or you won't be able to concentrate. Also take your time and make sure that you come to school on time and have enough time to take it.

Pmoreau5 said...

You should go to sleep, and sleep. And you should study. And you need to double check your answers. Also you need to Go over FCAT studie guides and practices. You should chew a piece of gum, so it can simulate your brain.

AStephens5 said...

lmartinez5:
good tips tish.(:

AStephens5 said...

Pmoreau5:
Good job Parker!

jdennis5 said...

lmartinez5, you are ready for the fcat.

lcbagley said...

A good stagigy would be to read the artical. Anougher would be read the questions first. Eat a good breakfast. SLEEP would be nice. go over a few thing to dont understand very well the nuight before.

cgreek5 said...

ejones6
These are some helpful tips.

cgreek5 said...

ahowell5
I think that you have super tips for the FCAT.

spena6 said...

cgreek5
I also agree with sleeping well before FCAT. When i don't get a good enough nights sleep i can't concentrate.

spena6 said...

ejones6
I dont know about the energy drinks but i will deffinitley get a good breakfast.

spena6 said...

To pass FCAT without any problems I like to get a good nights sleep the night before. In the morning of FCAT i like having 2 eggs with fruit on the side(or whatever my dad makes me). I try to calm down and not stress about the FCAT before or during it so that i can finish it all. I reread all my questions and answers just so i dont miss anything. I like having a mint or gum to chew on because this helps stimulate my brain. There are many more things that i do but those are just some of the main thing i do.

pdixon6 said...

I personally fall asleep during FCAT reading because the stories dont appeal to me,even if i sleep 8 hours i still do. My solution? Starbucks hot coco :3. Plus i never eat breakfast but i do during FCAT because i know how important it is to stay focused. And a stratigy i use is to read the questions first and dont rush, NEVER RUSH.

pdixon6 said...

ABeatty5
thanks for the tip on gum!

pdixon6 said...

drumore2
i also do that.

dbenjamin6 said...

For the FCAT I plan on getting lots of sleep. I also plan on eating breakfast because it keeps your mind going and builds up your energy. I am going to read the questions before I read the story, this way I know what to expect. It really helps if you take your time on the FCAT. If you just rush through it then your not really paying attention. For breakfast I might have pancakes and eggs...YUMMY:P

dbenjamin6 said...

cgreek5,
I agree on getting lots of sleep. That's not really a problem for me because I enjoy sleeping.

dbenjamin6 said...

spena6,
Fruit is an important part of breakfast along with eggs, water, milk, and orange juice. I prefer to drink orange juice though.

hpeel2 said...

I believe that you need to do constant in class reviews for the FCAT. I thought the FCAT word game in Mrs. Thomas's class really helped me out. I think it is important to get a good night sleep but also don't oversleep in the morning. You should have a slow easy going morning with coffee and cereal. I recommend using UNRAAVEL to answer reading questions.

hpeel2 said...

ejones6, good plan!

hpeel2 said...

dhileman6, I think I might go with your strategy.

MRichards5 said...

What I normally do is get lots of sleep, so I will be energized and ready for the test. I also eat peppermint, so it soothes my nerves and helps me concentrate. What I also plan on doing is chewing to gum, to also help stimulate my brain, before the test.

MRichards5 said...

@cgreek5

Hopefully I won't be freaking out this test. xD

MRichards5 said...

@drumore2

I wish I could eat breakfast. I get sick from doing so. :\

ezuy6 said...

First thing that i'm going to do to be ready for FCAT is sleeping. So I will be able to focus on my work. I'll try to be not norveous and be confident. During the FCAT i will try to read questions carefully. And after finishing the fcat i will check all my answers. and I also planning to eat really good breakfast!

ezuy6 said...

jdennis5
chewing gum is a good point

ezuy6 said...

AStephens5
good strategies!

Pmoreau5 said...

aperez5,

aye aye captain

Pmoreau5 said...

ejones6,
so does that mean your not going to talk for the whole day!?

bhoffmann2 said...

The FCAT of course is super boring and stressful for most. One of the ways that I would do to help is make sure to bring in some time of candy, mint, or gum to help stimulate my senses and keep me focused because I personally get distracted really easily. Another strategy that would help is to mentally prepare yourself for the FCAT the weekend before. If you tell yourself that you can do it, and study things you think you might have trouble with, you'll be a lot more confident, more focused and calmer when you go in to actually take the FCAT. The third tactic that I would do it to definitely make sure the weekend and especially the day before the FCAT get plenty of sleep, because it's tempting to fall asleep during the FCAT even without being super tired from staying up late the night before. You need to make sure that you are actually awake enough to be able to get through the amount of the test that you're supposed to in the amount of time you're supposed to and you can properly comprehend the questions that you need to answer.

pdixon6, you should try monster as well, I'm sure that would help :)

bhoffmann2 said...

lcbagley, your spelling is absolutely dreadful. Good strategies though.

rjacobs2 said...

Get sleep. Eat breakfest. Don't cram. Read questions first. Make studying even throughout multiple days.

rjacobs2 said...

pdixon6,

Hopefully you don't sleep while you're taking FCAT

rjacobs2 said...

lcbagley,

Nice spelling

lcbagley said...

ejones
thank you ..i will use that now.

lcbagley said...

tgarrison
thats some good ideads, are you ganna use them. You need to..

tfried2 said...

you shouldn't try to study because it'll just stress you out and would be a waste of time in my opinion. go to sleep at like 7:00 so you would naturaly wake up in the morning, and eat pepermints or something. and breathe deeply alot and chill while your taking the test.

ASellers5 said...

For FCAT the main thing to understand is to relax and be energized. So always get a good amount of sleep. Also get a good brekfast. Finaly, be confident in your's and your teacher's knowledge. With these tips you should be ready to tackel the FCAT

ASellers5 said...

@cgreek5
you can't realy studyu for FCAT

ASellers5 said...

@ejones6
won't drinking monster cuase you to be jittery, and not be able to focous

aneal2 said...

First, you have to get a good night sleep so you can be wide a wake and alert the entire day. Next make sure you eat a healthy breakfast to keep you energized. Also try some muscle relaxation moves to keep you calm and keep breathing easily. Finally work at a even pace to keep your self focused. If you rush you will be making your mind think far harder then it has to.So work at a pace thats comftorable for you.

aneal2 said...

cgreek5: I totally agree.

aneal2 said...

ejones: stay relaxed and you'll do great.

Khaldeman2 said...

My first tip to passing the FCAT is to go over the questions before you read the story, because you will at least have an idea what their going to be asking you. Also, you should definitely try to get a good nights sleep, don't try to stay up studying it will only stress you out. Lastly, make sure you have a good breakfast. I recommend eggs because not only are they good but they give you protein for the day. If you follow all these tips you will definitely get a five on the FCAT!!

Khaldeman2 said...

pdixon6, Starbucks hot chocolate sounds good I might get some the morning before the FCAT!

Khaldeman2 said...

ejones6, that's a great idea to refresh your memory on what you learned before.

ebayer6 said...

What I am going to do to pass the FCAT is go to bed early. Good sleep helps you focus better. Aso, eating a good breakfast. If i dont eat breakfast, the only thing i will be focusing on the whole time is how hungry I am. Lastly, I will read all the questions first, and use UNRAAVEL.

ebayer6 said...

cgreek5,
I agree with the sleep part, but you cant really study for the FCAT. You can prepare though. Is that what you meant?

ebayer6 said...

Khaldeman2, thanks for the tips! I'll use them!!!

Snetherland5 said...

FOr Fcat, I plan to get a lot of sleep. I can tell when i get more rest, I'm able to focus better which is very important. I also plan on reading the questions before I read the passage. This will help me be able to cross out non-important deatils and focus on what they want me to. Lastly, I am going to check over my answers. A lot of times I make stupid mistakes like circling in the wrong thing and checking over will prevent this.

snetherland5 said...

spena6,
I agree with all of those stratagies.

Snetherland5 said...

astephens5,
Those are some really good tips:)

dmedyk6 said...

To prepare for FCAT you need to get a good night of rest. After, you should have a filling, healthy breakfast. Then, you relieve any stress you have before the test, by taking your mind to a relaxing place. Lastly, you should use the UNRAVEL strategy while taking the FCAT so you will succeed taking this assessment.

dmedyk6 said...

@dhileman6 You have great strategies!

scottr5 said...

The FCAT has been know to stress people out,to make them nervous. Then panic! But it doesn't have to be that way. As long as you follow these tips. First, the week before FCAT you start studying all of the vocab you have gone over through out the year. I'm no saying to cram but try to learn as much vocab as you can it will help you in the passages you read. Second, that morning on FCAT day, make sure you get a good enough breakfast to last you until lunch. Third, relaxation! It is really important to be relaxed while taking the FCAT. It can make a difference. Last but not least, while taking the FCAT just take your time and do it right. just because you see the person next to you or your friend is finished doesn't mean you have to rush through the rest of the test. These are just some of the tips I use every year of the FCAT. Good luck!

dmedyk6 said...

@asellars5 Relaxing is a big part of preparing for FCAT.

scottr5 said...

@ASellers5 those are some great tips. Looks like you're going to do well on the FCAT.

dmedyk6 said...

Also, during the reading part of the FCAT you should read the questions before reading the passage.

scottr5 said...

@dmedyk6 Cool tips! I think I get to much rest before the FCAT.

Slaw5 said...

The first strategy I will use to help me do good on the FCAT is to get a good nights sleep the night before. Another is to eat a good breakfast on the morning of. Not freaking out is very important too. I have used the breathing method you taught us in class before and it really works. I will try imagining myself in a relaxing place also.

Slaw5 said...

tgarrison2, It is definitely a good idea not to waste time.

Slaw5 said...

lmartinez5, reading the questions before the passage really does help.

TMartinez5 said...

I will remain calm and try to not think of the consequences if I fail, will just try my best. Also I can think about calming and relaxing places. I will most likely think of a minecraft environment since I am so addicted to that game. Lastly, I have extended time, so I will use it wisely. Personally, I think its stupid to have a time limit of completion for a test. Everyone goes at their own pace in test-taking.

awashington2 said...

Iam going to get lots of sleep. Eat a good breakfast. Take my time and read through all the question. A stress buster is yoga. Use every thing i learned.

awashington2 said...

ejones6,

Drinking monster don't give u energy.

drumore2,

Nice fcat strategies.

ejones6 said...

@Awashington2
It gives me lots of energy and it gets my brain flowing

ejones6 said...

@spena6
I agree with you on the non stressing part

ejones6 said...

@ all bloggers
Good luck and I hope you do well

npegg2 said...

To prepare for FCAT you can underline and circle important things. This can help you to stay focused on what information is necessary to the question. You can also use UNRAVEL to help understand the question. Also reading the questions before reading the passage is good because you can pay attention to what you are looking for in the passage as you read it. I think these are the best strategies for staying focused and doing good on FCAT.

npegg2 said...

@ spena6
Good tips- I will bring gum also.

@ ezuy6
I love sleeping too! Keeps me rested for big tests.

Kluckey said...

I have had trouble sleeping the past few fcats. So my first tip is to go to sleep early the night before so that you have plenty of time to fall asleep. The second tip is to eat a healthy breakfast so that you have energy during the test. A combination of carbs and protein is best. Pace yourself so that you don't waste time on one question and not finish the test.

kluckey said...

cgreek5

yes I agree chase.

kluckey said...

drumore2

Gum always helps.

bferguson2 said...

To be successful on the FCAT, I want to make sure I'm fully rested with enough energy. I will go to bed at a decent hour and make sure to eat a great dinner the night before and also a good breakfast the morning of. During the actual test, if I get stressed out I will use the exercises Mrs. Thomas taught us like deep breathing and muscle relaxation. I believe that by doing all of this, I will be very successful on the FCAT :)

bferguson2 said...

awilson2,
it won't be hard girl! As long as you use everything A.Thom has taught us then you'll be just fine! You can do it :)

bferguson2 said...

ejones2,
hahaha. "..make sure that I eat good (as I already do)." I laughed at that one! Good luck Edgar :)

jdewitt6 said...

The FCAT is just one big game but you can always win if you know how to play it. I use two main strategies to help me get a 4 or a 5 on the "big game". Narrowing down the possible answers until I find a good answer to the question that fits. Also, to just focus on the test and only the test! Get good sleep, eat a good breakfast, and be optomistic and you'll do great :)!

jdewitt6 said...

Ejones6; I've never used those tips... I might try them sometime!

jdewitt6 said...

Cgreek5; Great strategies, I bet they'll do you good :)

dhileman6 said...

@pdixon6
The stories do that to me too. But it's the FCAT, so we have to do it one way or the other.

dhileman6 said...

@lmartniez5
I don't like to read the questions before the passage. It takes more time for me.

anichols2 said...

I would read the questions first and re-read anything that is not picked up the first time. i use these stratiges verytime I take a test, not only for FCAT. good luck everyone!!!

JFox5 said...

Today we had FCAT and I felt that I did really good. One strategy I used was reading the questions first. Another strategy I used was I went to sleep early last night and had breakfast this morning. A third strategy I also used was go back and check your answers if you have time left. Something else I would add is to study!!

JFox5 said...

ejones6,
I love how you said "What I will do to win their game is...". Haha.

JFox5 said...

tgarrison2,
Those are some great tips!!

mmcclendon5 said...

three tips you can use for the fcat are read before reading the passage. reading the pasage twice. going back and checking answers you chose. these tips are great because they really help. even teachers use these tips. also they have helped me personally.

mmcclendon5 said...

ejones6 those are great tips especially the yoga. we did that in mrs thomas class and relieves alot of stress

mmcclendon5 said...

awilson2 i agree drumore2 did have good tips

wlawence6 said...

One of the Strategies i will use is to read the questions first. Mainly because it has helped me before and it allows me to read less of the story. Another strategy is to go back and check your answers. This is because i sometimes either don't mean to put an answer or I put a bad answer without realizing it. A good tip would be to get a lot of sleep so you are focused and not tired.

wlawrence6 said...

@ejones6
I agree. Food always helps me

wlawrence6 said...

@tgarrison2
Yeah i agree with all 3 of yours but primarily the don't get distracted one

bbedell6 said...

To make sure that I get a good score on the FCAT, I am going to use multiple strategies. First, I have to make sure that I good enough sleep to be ready and full awake and aware for this test. Secondly, I have to eat a filling breakfast so that I will be able stay focused and not worry about going hungry. Thirdly, once I begin the test, I will read the questions before I read the actual text. Next, I have to pace myself and use my time wisely. Lastly, I will go back and check my work to make sure that I didn't skip any questions or answer any wrong.

cgreek5, I agree that getting used to a reasonable curfew the week before FCAT is a great idea. I should've used that... :)

bbedell6 said...

ejones6, stress busters are a good idea, and yoga can help you relieve stress, too. Studying is a good idea too, but studying that much can just add stress,

Amanibusan6 said...

There are two things that I'm going to do during the FCAT. One really big thing is to pace myself. I shouldn't take too long on a question, because I might run out of time. The next big thing is to go over my answers because then I'll have enough time to fix it. These are two big things that will help me succeed!

Amanibusan6 said...

Cgreek5:
I really need to get some good sleep! I should sleep 1 hour early so I can spend that hour staring at the ceiling while I try to doze off.

Amanibusan6 said...

Ejones6:
I also need to eat a good breakfast. Some people actually feel sick when eating breakfast, so I know it can be hard for some people.

lwooley5 said...

People have been saying the FCAT is becoming more and more difficult each year. That is why I am going to prepare myself for FCAT. First, I am going to get plenty of sleep and eat a good breakfast. On the FCAT, I am going to use the process of elimination and I am going to read the questions before reading the passage. Lastly, I am going to relax and not let myself get stressed. Those are the things I will do to prepare for FCAT.

lwooley5 said...

cgreek5,
I agree with your strategies.

lwooley5 said...

I make sure that I get a lot of sleep or else I will fall asleep during the fcat which would not be good. I like the tips that Mrs. Thomas taught us about how we need to take deep breaths and just not stress about it. I also like the tip about eating a full breakfeast. One the acually fcat I like to on the reading fcat to go back and prove my answer.

jdiehl6 said...

@ejones6... Good tips! I like how you brought up the phone that is a great idea!!

jdiehl6 said...

Astephens5..you have a lot of good tips!

SJun2 said...

I think that you should try to be relaxed and calm rather than being distressed. Being anxious or nervous might interfer with your thinking capabilities. One strategy that can be used is to read the questions before reading the texts. You should be able to know what you're looking for by doing so. Studying probably won't help you much.

Smasingil5 said...

One tip I would have is to not fall asleep. Which means get a good night sleep and eat a HEALTHY breakfast. Also, read the questions before the article and double check your answers. Another tip is do not talk or have a technological device on you. The people's will in validate your test

SJun2 said...

cgreek5, looks like one of most everyone's tip is to get a good nights sleep.

Smasingil5 said...

Sjun2
I agree you should be calm

SJun2 said...

spena6, is having two eggs in the morning of FCAT your routine?

Smasingil5 said...

Jdiel6
Everyone said don't fall asleep :)

LRICHEY6 said...

The strategies I would use would be read the questions before you read the passage so you can find the answers as you read. Also, get plenty of sleep the night before. If not you will be super tired and your brain wont be able to focus on what is going on. So the test will be harder and you wont do as well. Also use your brain and pick the best answer there is don't just Christmas tree the test that is not the best idea.

LRICHEY6 said...

ejones6 yea shure speachless

LRICHEY6 said...

AStephens5 sleep is very good

sbogue2 said...

To be well prepared for FCAT, everyone should get to bed at a good time. Being well rested seems to be the most important thing in taking a test to me. Also, eat a good breakfast so you're not thinking about hungry you are during the test. Last, I would use common sense to make really good guesses on the test if you have no clue what the test is asking.

sbogue2 said...

cgreek5, I like your tips! They are very helpful and everyone would do better if they listened to you!

sbogue2 said...

drumore2, I like the idea of chewing gum! That helps me too because I never start thinking about being hungry because I'm already chewing something!

sbogue2 said...

One last suggestion for everyone is to make sure to follow directions on the test and what your teacher is saying! If you listen to instructions, you'll always do better on standardized testing like the FCAT.

kflanagan6 said...

The strategies that I used, was to first get a lot of sleep and eat breakfast. But, the strategies that used on the test included looking at the questions first and then reading the passage. Another thing that i did was underline the answers to the questions. I thought that the easiest way to concentrate was to chew gum or mints during the test also. I also made sure to take the full time for the test.

kflanagan6 said...

cgreek5
Those are good strategies.

kflanagan6 said...

ejones6
I like your yoga strategy.

Ntburke5 said...

I will relax take deep breaths. I will also try and focus and not wander off into space. I'll eat my snacks slowly and take my time. I will also think positively and don't forget how important this test is.

@bfergunson2 same here

@mmcclendon6 Oh yeah that too

twilson2 said...

- Stratagey #1- A good nights sleep to come prepared for the fcat. #2 Have a full stomach to keep me satisfied and focused on the fcat. #3 Time management ill make sure i review questions im not sure about and take time on the fcat. One strategy I will use is to get some sleep. I really dont want to fall asleep while taking the FCAT. Another strategy is to eat breakfast. This gets me going in the mornings and I can concentrate better. A third strategy to use and probably the most important is to use time wisely on the FCAT. If you spend too much time on one question, you wont have much time for the others. You should also leave time at the end to go back and check your work to make sure you are content with your answers.

Are you sure that Monster Energy drinks are the way to go? Eventually you are going to crash, right?

You're right, they don't grade how fast you can answer questions, it grades the answers you choose.
