The book that I am currently reading is Twilight by Stephanie Meyer. The tone of this book would be romance and mysterious. An example would be Edward and Bella for romance and for mysterious would be when Bella is at lunch and is mysteriously looking at Edward and his personality and the people he hangs out with. The motive that the author had would be that she just wanted to write about romance and vampires.

the tone of the book iam curently reading would be happy and sad. the reason it is happy is because tghe main charater is always happy nomatter what happens to him he is always happy.also the main charaters sister is always sad and depressed because her dad is going back to jail for sinking a ship. my book is called flush and I think that everyone should read this book.

I'm currently reading The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares and I'm on page 147. The tone of my book seems pretty carefree because it's about summer and there's nothing really harmful going on. They just have to deal with little things that are stressing them out a little. Also, I think the author is trying to make the book very relatable for teenage girls. Overall though, the tone is pretty happy and it feels like it'll be happy in the end. An example is Bridget at soccer camp having a really good time going after an older boy and being with girls in a cabin, with not that many rules.

drumore2,
What book are you reading, whos the author, and what page are you on?

anichols2 said...

sbogue2,
Why do you think the tone is careless?

nmongo2 said...

The book that I am reading is "Turnabout".The author of my book is Margaret P. Haddix. Im currently on page 72. The tone of the book the author created is suspensefull. An example in the book is "My sixteenth birthday . Sad, sad day. What I mind most-what iv'e been dreading most-is losing my license.

anichols2, have you seen all the movies? I like your example because if anyone has seen the movie, I think they can remember that particular part.

drumore2, your book sounds very sad. Do you like it? I like your example because it really gave a feel for the book.

Iam currently reading Artemis Fowl. The author is Eion Colfer. The page i an currently on is 76. The tone of my book is happy. it has fairy tale cretures like fairies.

dgillespie5 said...

The book i am currently reading is Halo:First Strike, by Eric Nylund. I am currently on page 237. The authors tone throughout the book gives a sense of hopfullness that propels the characters through till the resolution of the story.

Astephens5 said...

I am currently reading Once upon a Marigold by Jean Ferris. I am on page 150. The tone of this book is romance and determination. Romance would fit the tone because in the book Christian sends letters through pigeon mail to Marigold and falls in love with her. Marigold never met Christian but ends up falling in love with him. The second tone, determination, is used to describe the tone because he risks alot to get into Marigold's kingdom and to try and save the king. I think the motive would be part comedy, because it's funny, part love story, because it's romantic, and part everything but the kitchen sink, because it has everything incorpurated in it.

LCBAGLEY said...

The tone in my book is "superstious"becasue its about witchs and stuff. its a pretty good book and i bet the author was thinking about witchcraft when he made it. The book is about a girl that gets convicked of witchcraft. Then she is tied to a poll is the middle of the woods. Then she waits for the thing, the beast.

MRichards5 said...

I'm reading The Sight by Erin Hunter.
The overall tone is both adventurous and secretive. What the author intends the reader to feel is mysterious because of all the omens and secrets within the book. However, she wants us to feel thrill because of all the nerve-wracking battles between others and fueds within the characters themselves, such as facing their "destiny".

MRichards5 said...

@anicols2

Twilight is a bit slow-moving for me, but is overall a good book. The plot is more or less original.

MRichards5 said...

@drumore2

Why is the brother always happy if he also knows what his dad did?

hpeel2 said...

The book I am currently reading is Artemis Fowl The artic incident by Eoin Colfer. I am currently on page 126.The tone of my book would be adventurous.A couple reasons are that Artemis is meeting fairies. He is also going around the world on a manhunt for his dad.

hpeel2 said...

drumore2,your book does sound sort of laid back

hpeel2 said...

astephon5,Its funny they would send love notes through pigeons.

tfried2 said...

I finished reading So B. It by Sarah Weeks. The tone of the book i think would be solitary and hopeful. Because the main character, Heidi, went to New York all the way from Nevada by herself, and the whole way she was hoping she would fine out more about her mother, right up until the last chapter. The motive that the author had was that the book was about discovery and patience.

tfried2 said...

@anichols2
how many times have you read twilight? Doesnt it get boring after a while?

Jdale2 said...

anichols2 I love the Twilight books so much. They are all so interesting.

tgarrison2 said...

The Lightning Thief Rick Riordan, I am currently on page 70 of my book. The tone of this book would be confusing and suprising. An example of this is when Percy's teacher Ms. Dodds turns into a monster and attackes him. He is very confused throughout the story and he is discovering new things about his life and about the so called myths he was told about in latin class. The motive the authour wnated to write is about what would happen if olympus was real and how this would affect people.

Jdale2 said...

I am currently reading The Midnight Library: Blood and Sand. I am on page 51. The author is Damien Graves. The tone of this book is horrifying and mysterious, the motive is to creep you out and make you try and figure thing out before the character does. The tone is also creepy

Jdale2 said...

tgarrison2 I watched the movie, and the book sound just like it.

awilson2 said...

the book I am currently reading is "The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod". The author is Heather Brewer and I am on page 46. The tone of my book is sad. Its sad because a little kid is all alonw, while being a vampire. He goes through lots of events that he wishes he had someone to help him and tell him wrong from right.

kwilliams2 said...

I am currently reading thirst no.4 and the tone of my book is a mixture of adventure and danger and it has kind of a happy and sad tone. my book is by christopher pike.im on page 357 and its sad yet happy becuase she has a baby and she thinks its evil and then alisas baby gets killed trying to protect the baby john from the evil vampires

I just finished reading Fairest by Gail Carson Levine i ended on page 356. I think that the tone my author wanted to have was a romantic tone. I think its romantic because a girl falls in love with the prince and then the prince kisses the commoner. Then they fall in love. They are so adorable thats why its romantic tone.

pdixon6 said...

gallatinI think my book has a curious and happy tone because throught the book Bambi asks his mother many questions and his tone becomes happy when she shares the answer with him. At one point Bambi asks his mother "What are deer?" and his mother said "We are deer" Bambi replys "oh I understand you are a big deer and I am a little deer!".The book is Bambi page 45 author Is Felix Salten

The book I'm currently I'm currently reading is Ella Enchanted, and I'm about half way done with my book. The tone of my book is happy and very 'enchanted'. It is very fantasy like because they live in a fairy tale land and cast spells on each other. The main charachter, Ella, has a spell on her that she has to comply to any order or command given to her.

title: The Lost Hero
author: Rick Riordan
Page: 143
I think the author's overall tone is serious yet fun. He introduces us too characters with interesting conflicts. The main character, Jason wakes up on a bus with no memory of the past. During the field trip he went to, a sudden storm started. Then one of the teenagers, Dylan, turned into what Jason calls a "venti", a storm spirit.

The overall tone of my book is exciting. The book is fast-passed with lots of battle scenes and twists. It keeps you thinking and keeps your heart racing. you never know what wil happen next. So that is why I beleive this book's tone is exciting.

dgillespie5 said...

anichols2,

Jfox5 said...

I was reading Specials by Scott Westerfeld. In the book their were numerous tones. The author made me feel happy one moment then sad the next. I could never tell what was gonna happen next because if I did it would be completly diffrent. The tone of the book would have to be mysterious.

The book I am reading is "The Girl That Could Fly." By Victoria Forester. I am currently on page 326. The tone of my book would be mysterious with a hint of sorrow. An example would be of how Piper has to travel to the trash shoot because the boy Conrad threew it when really he was trying to help her. She finally learns that the facility was using her and she felt sad bcause she had learned to trust the people in the building. She thought they were helping her when really they were trying to make her loose her gift. The author wrote this to entertain readers with a good story of faith, hope and a little happiness.

I am on page 94 of Fat Kid Rules the World, by K.L. Going. Throughout this whole story, Tom has very little self-confidence in himself. Well, I don’t blame him. He’s seventeen years old, six foot one, and weighs 300 pounds. Sometimes when he talks, he wheezes and stutters. Therefore, K.L. Going feels embarrassed about being fat. Everything Tom does, he makes sure nobody will laugh at him, like they always do. In the beginning, Tom questions himself about committing suicide because he’s ashamed of himself and what he’s become. This book makes me feel sad for Tom, and makes me want to read to find out what happens to him next.

I am currently reading the book I Am Number Four by Pittacud Lore. Right now I am on page 241. The tone of this book is probably lonley and sad. For example the main character John says "...but I am tired of running...I wonder if we'll ever be able to stop." This quote kind of gives off a lonley, sad vibe. I think the authors motive for writintg this story was to write an interesting story that entertains the readers, but also connect you wiht the character and understand his feelings.

Snetherland5 said...

Anichols2,
I agree with the tone being romantic and mysterious for Twilight. But I think thats what made it interesting.

The book that I currently read is Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. I just finished the book yesterday, and the tone of this book would be tense and exciting. An example would be that Abbot, the antagonist, also the leader of the pride, kills the secondary characters Holly, Qwan, and N 1. Since Artemis knows the pattern to the time leap, he shoots Abbot unconscious when the time jumps back about a minute and stops him from killing his friends. The motive the author had when he wrote this book was to entertain. He also wanted it to have a happy tone in the end of the book.

SJun2 said...

awilson2, it seems like alot of the people I know are reading that book; even guys.

SJun2 said...

Snetherland5, I really want to read that book, but whenever I try to check out the book from the library, its on hold for someone.

LRichey6 said...

My book is the old Willis place by Mary Downing Hahn I'm on page 94. The tone would be mysterious because these kids are living in the woods and there are all these rules that they have to follow. Also there is this girl Lissa that Diana is breaking the rules for just because she wants a friend and Georgie Diana's brother doesn't like that because they shouldn't break the rules because they will get in trouble by miss Lilian the lady that died in the old house that they live by. So I think that mysterious would be the tome for this book. This book is good i cant wait for the end.

I am currently reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, and am on page 241. So far, I think the tone in my book would be tense and sad. It would be tense because of all the stressful things that are happening to the characters and the situations they are put in by the capitol people. The suspense also makes you feel very tense. I would say sad because of the whole concept of the book. These people think they can be in charge and kill whoever they want for their entertainment, and all the people are dying, which is really sad.

Slaw5 said...

tgarrison2, I heard that was a good book but I never really wanted to read it after I had already saw the movie. Is it good?

aneal2, Sounds like an interesting book!

Astine2 said...

The book that I am currently reading is Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, by J.K. Rowling. At the moment I am on page number 259. There are two motives that the author probably had in mind when they wrote this book. One of them is Sad, or depressing, because Harry has to go to a hearing because he used magic illegally. His friends hadn't written to him all summer and he felt all alone, and shut off from the world. Another one is Fear, because the Order is talking about weapons that Voldemort wants. They are all frightened, and Ron's mom wont let Harry hear the full story.

Astine2 said...

Slaw5;
Is that the second book in the series of the Hunger Games? I haven't read it yet.

The book I am currently reading is Poison Ink by Christopher Golden. I am page 88. I think the tone would be romance because there is a girl named Sammi and then she meets this boy named Adam and he is very fancy. Sammi likes this because he's different from other guys. The book is also mysterious because there is this character who stays in this shop and he is kind of a mystery. The motive the author had would be to write about the romance of the characters and to make the book seem mysterious.

dbenjamin6 said...

The overall tone of the book would probably be exciting and suspense. It would be exciting because are the hunger games. The hunger games are when different people from different districts come into a stadium were they fight to the death. It is suspenseful because you always want to know what happens next. The last sentence of each chapter make you read more. I can’t ever put the book down!

I'm presently reading "The Red Pyramid" by Rick Riordan, and on page 130. I believe the tone of my book is an adventure and excitement. The book is very hard to stop reading. There is always new ideas introduced in the book and cliffhangers that leave you hooked. For example in the book the two main characters are Carter and Sadie. Throughout the book they are constantly learning new extraordinary things in their life that they never knew(mostly magical powers). So the book always leaves you to ask yourself what they might learn next.

Battling rats, meeting a badger (who is friendly), metting foxes and getting stuck in fences.

pmoreau5 said...

The book that i am reading is Breaking Dawn, by Stephenie Meyer. i am currently on page 110. the tone so far would have to be kid of nervous/scared. Because she is nervous about her wedding and a little bit scared too.

The tone of my book, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis, is different depending on what's going on in the story. When Lucy first finds the magical land of Narnia, the tone is happy and interesting. However, when Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy all go to Mr. Tumnus' house, they find the door off its hinges, the house a complete wreck and a creepy letter from the White Witch, the tone is mysterious and creepy.

bferguson2 said...

The book that I am currently reading is Harry Potter and The Order of the Pheonix by J.K. Rowling, also I am on page eighty five. My book so far has a tone of creepiness and foreboding. The reason for this is, Harry is expecting Voldemort to attack numerous muggles at any given time. While they are awaiting this terrible happening, Harry is in hiding with many other wizards who have been against Voldemort from the start. Harry is in hiding because Voldemort isn't just after plain human beings, he's also after him...

I am currently reading Into The Wild by Sarah Beth Durst. This book is a Fantasy. I am on page 144 out of 288. I am liking the book so far.I feel the tone of the book is a mixed tone.In some parts the main charector Julie has a bunch of mixed feeling about the wild, her family and herself. I feel that most of all I think the tone is enthusastic because they are going on an inventure and I feel that they are probably talking loud with an excited tone. Like in this exerpt of the book. "Grinning she turned forward. On the horizon, the sun was rising, sparkling and dancing on the water. It was a beutiful morning in every way. She was going to mom! She was going home!" I feel like it would sound passionate and is happy.

It has more of a gentle tone in the beginning of the book and then it starts with a more of a adventurous tone when Peter Pan shows up.For example of a gentle tone was when the author talks about the lives of Wendy's family and a adventurous when they fly all the way to Never Land. I really like the book so far.

Im reading Luna Bay by Francess Lantz. Im curently on page 65. The tone of my book would me romance and a happy tone. An example of romance would be the summer triangle shes having between David and Sean. The happy tone would ne her passion for surfing and how shes always happy whenever shes at the beach or in the water. The Motive that the author had would be that she just wanted it be about surfing and romance.
