Blog #3 Due: Monday 2/14/11

Last week we focused on Comparing and Contrasting different text.  I want you to use the book you are currently reading and the last book you read to find 2 comparisons and 2 contrasts(differences).  List the title, author, and current page number of the book you are currently reading.  Also, list the book that you are using to compare and contrast your current book with.  Remember your response must be at least 5 sentences and you must comment twice to get full credit.

I really dont remember the last book I was reading but I remember The Palace Of Mirros by Margret Peterson Haddix. The book I am currently reading is Telling Christina Goodbye by Lurlene Mcdaniel. I am going to compare and contrast these to books. Both of the main characters both need to find their true identy and judge people in a different way. One character loses their best friend forever and one character in the old book finds out her best friend who is a boy loves her. I am on page in Telling Christina Goodbye.

The last book I read was diary of a wimpy kid, the book I am currently reading is Harry Potter. Harry potter is written by J.K rowling. Diary of a winpy kid is written by Jeff Kinney. In my current book im on page 20. The two books have many differences and few similarities. For example, in my opinion, Diary of a Wimpy Kid has a lot more humor than Harry Potter. Greg (from Diary of a Wimpy kid) talks about the horrible life he but manages to keep it funny and exiting. While in Harry Potter, Harry is fighting agianst vouldemort, which is more intense and excitin, but not much humor.

The book I am currently reading is Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I am currently on page 44. The last book I read was The Series of Unfortunate The Austere Academy by Lemony Snicket. One similarity between these books are that one of the main characters is a guy. Another similarity is that books are involved. In 451 books are burned and in Austere Academy Klaus researches Count Olaf's plans with books. Differences include that 451 is somewhat futuristic and Austere Academy is more present. In 451 the main character is a fireman and in Austere Academy the main characters are orphans.

Comparisons:
They both involve some type of tragety. they both involve love.
Contrast:
One main charachter in Vlad Todd is a vampire. The story True Believer involves adults not teens.

Two comparisons in the book i am rwading now and the book i currently had read are that in both of hem the man chracters are being hunted down and threatened to be killed. Another comparioson between both the books is that the maion chracters have so much to handle such as being the oldest in the family, fighting for their lives(literally), and dealing with a relationship on top off all of that. Two contrasts is a difficult one. I would say one contrast betweemn both the books is that one involves man eating werewolves(called erasers in the book) and the other involves serial killing robots. Another contrast between the books would probabaly be that in one of the books one of the main chracters family members are kidanpped and experimented on and in the other the one that was experimented on in the first book betrayed the main chracter,(max) and nearly got her killed.

The book I am currently reading is the City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau and I am on page 250. The last book that I read was Searching for David's Heart. One similarity is that Amanda (in searching for David's heart) is looking for something and in the city of ember Doon and Lena are looking for something. Another thing that is the same is that they both had a sibling. Two things that are different are that Lena and Doon are trying to find a way out of the city and in, Searching for David's heart Amanda is looking for David's heart. Also, that one takes place in Miami and the other is under ground.

The last book I read was Breaking Dawn. This book is by Stephanie Meyer. I am currently reading The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I am on page 39. They are both love stories. Breaking Dawn is a little darker and fantasy while The Notebook is starting out to be a sweet love story. I think in The Notebook the main girl, Allie is smarter than Bella. First off, she goes to college instead of dropping out of high school like Bella. They are also in different time periods.

The last book i read was Dear John and i'm currently on The Last Song both by Nicholas Sparks. One comparison is that they both take place in North Carolina. Another contrast is that Dear John takes place in like 2001 while the Last Song is in the 2009.

The second comparison is that there was a relationship between a boy and a girl and they end up breaking up because they like someone else. A contrast is that one setting is in Michigan and the other is in Georgia on a peach orchard. The second contrast is that Leaving Paradise was about leaving everything behind and starting fresh. Peaches is about bringing everyone closer together so they can be the best of friends and never leave each other. The author of The Secrets of Peaches is Jodi Lynn Anderson and I am on page 33

The book I am reading is called Come Back by Caire Fontaine and Mia Fontaine. The last book I read was Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen. In am on page 166 in Come Back. Comparing and Contrasting these books are hard. Come back is a true story and Lock and Key fiction. In Lock and Key the mom runs away from her daughter and in Come Back Mia , the daughter, runs away from her mom. Also in Lock and Key Ruby leaves to live with her sister to start a better life. In Come back Mia runs away from her loving mother to live on the streets and do drugs. So one leaves for one more shot at life and the other girl leaves to leave life behind.

I am reading Torment by Lauren Kate, I am on page 103. The last book I read was Closed for the Season. Both books deal with trying to solve something, like a problem or an issue. Also they both deal with people who they lost, like family members or friends. But in Torment it is more unrealistic because there are guardian angels. In Closed for the Season there are just regular people in a small town. Also there is a love life in Torment, while not in the other book, just a murder mystery.

They are different in which A child Called it is a real book and I So Don't do mysteries is a fantasy/mystery book. Also they are different because I so Don’t do Mysteries Is about a teenage girl finding out who is killing the rhinos and A Child Called It is about a boy trying to survive in his own home. The boy in Th Education of Little Tree is a boy from the 1800's and helped his grandfather make whiskey. Another is that the boy from Wringer is a young boy who keeps a pigeon in his house and tries to keep from everyone. Only one other person knows which is heis best friend. The boy from The Education of Little Tree lives in a country area and lives up inthe mountiains with his grandparents. Two similarities are that they're both young boys who get bullied by other boys. The first part was mainly about a kid named Lucy. She wanted to get a boyfriend to take to her bestfriend's birthday party so she wounldn't be alone. The book I'm reading now is mainly about a kid named Deet. He is going through changes at the moment because his father has gotten locked up for drug use. He feels ashamed to ride the bus or go to school anymore because he thinks everyone would know and see him as a different person. A similarity of the two books is that they both deal with school in some way. Another similarity is that they are both in middle school. One difference is that One kid is a boy and the other is a girl. Another difference is that in Cheater, Cheater, the girl is trying to get a boyfriend to go to her friend's birthday party. My book is "the Fire Eternal" by Chris D'Lacy. I finished the book recently. My old one was "Mocking Jay".
COMPARE-1. Both books are fiction.
2. Both for the readers entertainment
CONTRAST-1. Fire Eternal is fantasy, Mocking jay is sci-fi.
2. Mocking jay is a more gruesome type of book.

The last book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney, the book I am currently reading is Skeleton Key by Anthony Horowitz. I'm currently on page 100. The two books have many differences and few similarities. For example, in my opinion, Diary of a Wimpy Kid has a lot more humor than Skeleton Key. Greg (from Diary of a Wimpy kid) talks about the horrible life he has but manages to keep it funny and exiting. While in Skeleton Key, Alex is fighting his way to save the world.

The last book i read was Diary of A Whimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules, by: Jeff Kinney. The book I am currently reading is Tortured. In both books the main characters get embarresed in there own ways, also there brothers/family cause problems for them. But Tortured involves dogs and abusive owners, Diary of A Whimpy kid involves kids getting back at each other.

The book I am currently reading is 'The Skin I'm In' by: Sharon G. Flake and i have finised the book. I am comparing that book with 'Don't Judge A Girl By Her Cover'. These two books have comparisons like, they both have things to do with fighting back for what they think is right and they also have another one like both having to be in the setting with school. Though they have comparisons they do have multiple differences like 'The Skin I'm in' is having to do with race and the other book has to do with a kid napper. Another strong differences is that 'The Skin I'm In' involves teachers and the other book doesn't.

Thimilarities are one that they are both fiction. Holes is about a boy who is searching for a tresure and Furgal is about a boy who fell of a window, weird thing to write a book about. Another similarity is that they are both about a boy and not a girl, i don't know why. The differences are one is about tresure and the other is about a boy fallind out of a window and dying. Another difference is that Furgal takes place in a city and Holes takes place in the desert.

The book I am reading now is Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling. I am almost finished with it, as the mini-project is due tomorrow, so I am on page 725. The book I just finished reading is titled Dead is the New Black, which is written by Marlene Perez. Both of these books have a sort of magic "touch" to them. Specific characters have magical abilities that make the book noticably ficton. The books also have a dark, creepy tone. Although, the numerous similarities between both of these books are quantiful, there are also many differences. The books differ from each other in ways like in Harry Potter there is a tournament and that is the main topic. In Dead is the New Black The focus is comming from one girl but in Harry Potter it is comming from three main characters.

I am reading the book called Cryptid Hunters, its written by Ridley Pearson, and I am on page 50. There are two differences that come to mind when I am comparing the book I am reading now to The Cover Up which was the last book I read. The book i am reading now is about mysterious creatures while the Cover up was talking about football. Another difference was the setting. The setting in Crypitd Hunters is on an Island off of the state of Washington while the Cover Up is in Indianapolis. One similarity is that the books main characters are both about teen kids with strange but cool lives. Another similarity is that the duo of kids in both books are away from their parents.
