Blog #1 Due: Monday 1/31/11

It is the beginning of a the new semester and new Blog numbers. This is also your chance for a clean slate and to be successful in Reading Class.

Think about the last book you read. Looking back can you think of any examples of Foreshadowing that occurred? If you need help with what foreshadowing is look back in your notebook. Give a detailed example and include your books title, author, and if you would recommend your classmates to read the book.  Make sure your response is at least 5 sentences and that you comment on 2 other posts.

The book i read is called all American girl. An example of foreshadowing in this book was when Sam noticed that the man next to her looked very suspisious and was playing with something under his rain pancho. She ignored it, but later, that same man took the object out, witch ended up being a gun, and tried to shoot the presidnt. So, you knew something was going to happen with this man becauase they gave a discription of him and kept bringing him up in the book.

The book that I read last was called Closed for the Season. This book was written by Mary Downing Hahn. A foreshadowing that occured in my book would probably be the fact that the main character Logan Forbes just moved into a 'murder' house right next door to a library freak named Arthur, causing them to go to the library and try to solve the mystery of the murder in Logan's home. If he hadn't have moved in right next to a lonley person they probably wouldn't be friends and wouldn't have solved the mystery to who murdered Mrs. Donaldson.

The book I am reading is called Little House in the Prairie. The author is Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am on page 40. Am example of foreshadowing is when Laura and Mary's mother starts saving the meat and food in the attic. It shows that winter might be coming and maybe there isn't really that much food where they live in the winter.

The book that i am reading is called Star Power by Zoey Dean and i am on page 133. The forshadowing that has happened in this book would definetly be... that, Mac who is the main character in this book, she is trying to make a country girl famous and she does all of these things that are totally a mistake waiting to happen and you just can tell. So she gives Emily a dress that isnt paid for which Mac doesn't know about and you can just tell that someone is going to see that it is missing. Unfourtanitly they do find out and Mac gets in a lot of trouble for something that she didn't even know about.

But she ignored it and found out that Damon had something to do with the rhino killings.

The book i had was Guness Book of World Records 2010. There was no forshadowing. So there isn't really much I can say in this blog.

The book I last read was Freefall, by Rodrick Gordon. An example of forshadowing in this book is when they found the Will's, the main characters, evil sister. They thought she would backstab them at her first chance, but instead, they accepted her. But when they where looking for medical supplies in an abandoned submarine, they ran into Rebecca's twin sister. She didnt think twice about betraying them. You know something was wrong because of the way she was acting when they told her that they where heading towards the submarine.

The previous book was Camp X. It was by Eric Walters. An example of foreshadowing would be when they talk to Mr. Crum a newspaper man who had got metals of bravery for fighting in the German war during WWI. That foreshadowed that he was a Nazi Spy. Which he ended up being. I would recommend this book to people who like reading about WWII stories based in Canada.

The book I'm currently reading is called The Wringer. The author is Jerry Spinelli. Also I'm on page 154. The book is about a boy named Palmer who lives in. Town where people wring pigeons. He's never liked that so he never goes to the town festival, he acts like he's sick and stays home for it. His friends all want to be wringers but he doesn't want to tell them that he doesn't like wringing the pigeons. One day a pigeon came to his window and he thought it was just taking a break. But then it wouldn't stop tapping on his window pane. He gave the pigeon food one day and just felt like keeping him but not telling anyone. One day the pigeon flew onto Palmers heAd like usual, but in front of his friends. So his friends tried to wring it but the pigeon got away. His friends said the pigeon was Palmers but Palmer denied it. This is how my story is being foreshadowing.

It is foreshadowing because they are leaving there house and going on a train to Miami. Another example is that they find the person's house who has David's heart. Darcy and Sam are hanging out with Winston (the person who has David's heart) to find out more about him. I would recommend this book to someone who likes sad stories.

Then a couple of days later when he arrives at his appartment there is a broken bottle on the front steps and he suspects it was left there by his opponent from a few nights ago. My book counted as two so I am still finishing it up. It is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. I am on page 460 and I'm almost done! I would definitely recommend this book to any of my classmates that won't judge a book by it's cover- or thickness. The author, J.K. Rowling does a little bit of foreshadowing in her writing, especially in this book. One of the examples of foreshadowing is when she says that Hermione is always rushing off to the library. The thing is, though, that it is the first week of school and none of the teachers have had any assignments. Hermione is also rather quiet when Viktor Krum is mentioned. Viktor Krum seems to always be in the library. J.K. Rowling really makes you think and try to guess.

I started a new book and the book is called Telling Christina Goodbye by Lurlene Mcdaniel. It is about a girl named Trisha and her best friend Christina. They are just going to college and they both have a boyfriend. Trisha's boyfriend name is Cody and he is sweet but Christina's boyfriend Tucker is not sweet at all. Christina is going to college far away from where they are living but Tucker dont want her to go. Trisha thinks her friend should, so all this confuses Christina. Will she stay with Tucker or go to the college? They get into a car crash and the foreshadowing that something bad was going to happen that night is when Tucker get into a fight. Then a car in front of them doing crazy things.

One example of foreshadowing in my book is that Ruby's friend, Nate, has just broken up with his totally amazing, popular, cheerleader girlfriend. The foreshadowing happens when in the book Nate's girlfriend keeps getting put into the story. Ruby is getting worried because everybody keeps looking at them. Nate's ex-girlfriend doesn't look but she keeps getting put into the picture so maybe they will get back together. Or that Ruby and her will get into a fight. I don't know the end of the story so I can't wait to find out what happens. The foreshadowing in this story is when Nate's ex keeps getting brought up in the story.

Foreshadowing in this book is when Greg heard that in P.E. they are studying wrestling, so he thought to his self and wondered how he was going to tell his parents to get him a wrestling kit (by giving out clues and magazines). On Christmas, he received a wrestling kit.

Some examples of foreshadowing that were in my book were when the main character max saw footprints and dust marks from a car leaving their camp site. And she also realized that her brother nad sisters were no where to be found. This is an example of foreshadowing because all theses clues led to the fact that her brothers and sisters had been kidnapped and now it was tim e to find them and get them back before time ran out.Another foreshadowing example is when the main chracter in my book saw a little girl being bullied from two thousand feet in the air. This is foreshadowing becasue you can tell at that very instant that she was going to halep the girl while trying to do a search and rescue mission also. And because in the bok she did swop down and fight for like five minutes and managed to brake some bodys arm break some ones rib and get shot.Isn't that wonderful?

The last book I read was Because Of Winn Dixie. There is some foreshadowing in the book. The example I am going to use is when during the thunder Winn Dixie gets terrified during the thunderstorm and later in the book you find out she was abandoned in a thunderstorm by her last owner leaving permanent emotional damage.

The last book I read was called Maximum Ride: Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports. One example of foreshadowing was when they author told the reader that the director looked very familiar, and that she had all the same features as Max. It turned out the director was Max's mom. Other than that there weren't many examples. Mostly the entire book was unexpected events.

The book I am reading is called "Trapped in death cave."The authors name is Bill Wallace. I am on page 57 and a example of forshadowing is when Gary brings out a piece of paper from his pocket and he says its something from his grandfather(Who passed away a week ago.). This odd feeling sets in once there is silence between Gary and Brian, all of a suuden gary reads the note and says that grandpa was murdered and didn't die from a accident.

that sounds like a good book. Most of the books people are reading are about people getting shot or killed.

cmazza3, Logan has a odd life.

The last book i read was Beyonce. The author was Terri Doughtery. I think that the fact that Destinys Child kept striving was foreshadowing their success. The group was turned down multiple times which could've caused them to give up. There is a saying that states if you continue to try success will be the result. I feel like this applies to their success and them trying hard lead up to them a great success

The last book I read was Al Capone shines my shoes by Gennifer Choldenko. There was one time when Moose thought back from when he was a child. He remebered how his mother always told him that his younger sister was older than him. The mom didn't want problems to occur. He is now younger than his 10 year old sister who is told to be 16.

My book is called "Runaway". The author is Wendelin van draanen. I have finished the book. An example of forshadowing is when Holly was explaining how perfect her house was and how things are always ruined for her. later a man follows her "home" and assults her, at the end he falls on the cardboard box, "her house", and she has to start all over again.

The book I read is called Lock And Key. The author is Sarah Dessen. An example of foreshadowing in the book is Ruby's mother keep sneaking this one man in the house with her. she thinks its not a problem. Later on she leaves at night and goes to some island with him. I would recommend this book to people.

One example of foreshadowing in my book was when the main character Romiette repeatedly had the same dream every night. At first her dream wasn't so clear. She would be drowning and then she would here this voice that would try to save her. After she met this boy named Julio it was suddenly all lear, the voice was his. A couple of mounths after being together her nightmare came true but thank goodbness he was there to save her. My book is called Romiette and Julio by Sharon Draper and i would definelty recommend this.

The book I read was Emmit Smith: Star Running Back. An example of foreshadowing in this book was when Emmit Smith said he wanted to be an NFL superstar. This was forshadowing to me because I knew he would get into the NFL. He worked hard to fulfill his dream and in the end became one of the greatest running backs to ever live.

The last book i read was diary of a Wimpy Kid Rodrick Rules. It had alot of foreshadowing in it. But the most important is when the main character tells his brother his biggest secret. His brother is known to tell secrects though. So at the end of the book Rodrick tells everyone his little brothers secret!
