I am reading The Sea Of Trolls by Nancy Farmer and I am done with the book. If I were the author of the book I would change Olaf One-Brow from dying on page 353. Although he died fighting which every Berseker needs to do before death he was had a family to take care of. If he were to live he live on as a hero once more finding Mirmir's well with Jack and Throgil. He was a true man in the story.

I’m currently reading Al Capon Does My Shirt by Gennifer Choldenko and I’m on page 270. If I was the author I wouldn’t change anything. I think this because the book is already pretty interesting and I think it doesn’t need to be changed. I’ve been interested with this book and how it is. I’ve also found that the book is kind of funny to me.

the book i am currently reading is called Called Trouble, by Jeanne DuPrau and im on page 71. if i was the author of the book i would change the fact that the book is not scary. basically i would change the genre and the way things are set up. but dont get me wrong, the book is great. i would make the story scary because it would make the story more interesting. not so basic, regular, and expected.

jroach5... do you usually read books like that?

I just finished reading Skink No Surrender by Carl Hiaasen. In my book, the person that kidnapped Malley dies and gets eaten by an alligator. If I were the author I would keep the kidnapper alive. The reason for that, is because Malley wanted to see him go to jail. If this would've happened T.C. (the kidnapper) would have been a changed person.

The book that I am reading is called "Zoo The Modern Ark". I am on page 100. The author is Jake Page . The thing I would change in the story if I was the author is that I would add more information to the story. Also more detail about more specific animals.

tnoliver6 said...

Mbowman4 I would do the same.

The book I am currently reading is Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card and I am on page 384. If I was the author of this book, I would change the amount of details that are included at the book. I would change this because despite how good the storyline is, some parts are vague. For example, just over halfway into the book, Ender goes through a week/months’ worth of games against the buggers and the author just summarizes it into just 2 paragraphs. For example, “Steadily the pace increased. There were usually two battles a day now, and Ender held practices to a minimum.”

mdinh6 said...

cchesser5 That sounds like a good book.

I have finished reading "The 100" by Kass Morgan. In my book there is always a new surprise in almost every chapter. If I were the author I think I would make some "calm" chapters where there isn't a new surprise and that you can understand everything that is happening at the moment. With every new chapter there is something new to think about and with some "calm" chapters you can catch up on everything that is happening and not have to think about something new right away. For example, on the Ark, oxygen was running low and the former Chancellor was trying to find a way to get everyone on earth with only one ship. He went to give a speech to everyone on how he was going to resolve the problem but at the meeting a bomb went off. The bomber attempted to kill the Chancellor but ended up killing other people and putting everyone into panic. All of that in just two chapters. It's a lot to think about at one time.

ACardoza5 said...

@mdinh6 Good changes!

@Mbowman4 I like how that changes the story.

The book I am currently reading is The Worst Class Trip Ever by Dave Berry and I have just finished my book. If I were the author of this book, I would take out the first few pages because they have nothing to do with how the book ends up. The first few pages are mostly just talking about his dad walking around in his underwear. The beginning of the story was meaningless. If I was writing this book, I would have started with Wyatt getting onto the airplane for the class trip.

JFox4 said...

@ACardoza5 That would be a smart idea.

The book i am reading is Satch & Me by:Dan Gutman. If I was the Author of this book Satch & Me the thing I would change in this book is how they met the famous baseball player Satchel Paige. Because it was weird how they met him, They met him when they were trying to catch a ride on the side of the road and Satch pulled up stepped out of the car and asked them if they needed a ride. The way i would have put is i would have them meet him at one of his baseball games because then they could have saw how fast he pitched and thats what they traveled back in time for to see who was the fastest pitcher in baseball history. And i am currently done with the book.

I am reading the book Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth by Rick Riordan and I am on page 176. If I could change one thing about my book it would probably be that Rick writes about these monsters from Greek mythology and I never know is I’m pronouncing the word correctly. If I were rick I would put pronunciation guides next to the creature’s names. For example in the book there is a creature named Krampe. If I was Rick right next to the word there would be (cer-am-pee). So if I could change one thing about my book I would add in pronunciation guides.

cscott1 said...

The book I am reading is "Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth" by Rick Riordan and I am on page 205. One thing I would change about my story if I were the author is that one of the characters, Nico, went with them back into the Labyrinth. I would change this because I feel like they will need Nico's help later on in the book after going in the Labyrinth. Also because if Nico would have went with them would have made more task easier for the characters. This is what I would change if I was the author.

I am reading Promises to keep by Paul Langan and I am on page 112. If I was the author of this book I would change the fact the Tyrays dad abuses him. On page 73 Tyray and his dad got into an argument and his dad ended up hitting him. I would this because I don’t think it was right for hit Tyray just for talking back, he could have solved the situation in a different way. I would all change the fact that Tyray keeps getting beat up and robbed and not telling anyone. I would change this because I feel Tyray she at least tell a friend or just someone he trust.

I’m reading The Whisper by Emma Clayton and I’m on page 293. If I were the author I would take out the part where Ruben comes back and slows down everything. I would change this because the encounter seemed to brief and not very well thought out. Another thing I would change is Grace having full access to her powers. I would have liked a few chapters on her training to use her powers and control the Roar and the Whisper.

The title of my book is Were World: Shadow of the Hawk by Curtis Jobling. My current page is 320 and if I were the author of these books I would not change a thing about them. The books are amazing and I’m not very experienced in literature, changing them would ruin them. Some things in the book get very sad, gory or downright disappointing but there is no quite way to top the author’s work. Perhaps I would describe the characters a bit more to get a better understanding of them.

gdummett1 said...

@mdinh6 i hate when authors do that, it really cuts out good parts of a story

gdummett1 said...

@blugenbeel6 Taking focus away from story is pretty pointless, the author should probably make the encounter longer.

My book is "The Last Thirteen #1," by James Phelan and I'm on page 182. If I was the author of this book, I'd add more descriptions and make it a little longer. I'd make this longer because I honestly was on the #2 book 2 days ago, and now I'm almost done with #1. I fly through the books. I would add more details because the book has a style of writing that is starting to boor me. This book has great potential, but it needs improvement also.

The book I am reading is called “Save the Cupcake” by Lisa Papademetriou. I’m currently on page 260. I am reading Game World by C.J. Farley and on page 200. If I was the author of my book there is not much I would change. If I were to change something, it would be to allow the characters to have special abilities to try and fight off any danger. Now in the book they just get away by running or hiding. With this change I believe it would make the story a little bit more exciting.

The book I'm reading is "Listen o This" by XXX and I am on page 11. If I was the author of "Listen to This" I would have had a song for each chapter. This book is about the change from classical music the guy liked to modern pop or rap. I think the music would emphasize the changing of two polar opposite music genres. A song that would have some classical aspects and some modern twist.

I would make him refuse to go with Wasp because I can't believe that Dai left Nere. They loved each other and they miss each other a lot, so I would rather let them fall into trouble than making them miss each other. Also after he left her, Nere is having many problem with her friends and her family. I hope he'll come back.

I am reading "The Terminals" by Royce Scott Buckingham, and I am on page 150. I would make the characters Ari and Calliope not die. They both were very important characters and meant a lot to the main character. Yes, this also helps develop the main character's emotions, but the author made the wrong decision in killing them. I would have killed a random passerby over the two the author chose so that the character would've been spared the sadness.

@brivera4
That is a very interesting idea. Are you saying like a playlist, or just a random collection?

@klynch4
That seems like the book would become a boring hippie book, no offense intended, but I mean there has to be some conflict in a story.

I am reading The Testing by Joelle Charbonneau, I am on page 50. If I was the author I would change the rules of the testing. I would change this so there could be more challenges. Some challenges now are people try to poison others to get better grades. I would make sabotage completely fair.

The book that I am reading is called Sisters by Raina Telgemeier and I am done with my book. One thing that I would change is how the sisters get to their cousin's house. They weren't fighting and the mom was just yelling at them half of the time. What I would have done if I was the author I would had let them say funny things to each other. And the mom just make pit stops for them to just work it out. I also didn't like the end when they just ended with saying bye to their dad. If I was the author I would have ended it more exiting.

I just finished reading "Steelheart" by Brandon Sanderson and in that book I really thought it was a really good book, however there are a couple things I would have changed. First off I would have not have made the repercussion of using the powers that the epics have different. Another thing I would have changed is the name of the epics to something more original, as well as change the Reckoners to be more original as well.

I am currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dasher and I'm on page 150. If I was the author of this book I would change the wall that closes every night and blocks out the grievers. Because if the author made the walls open every night it would give the book more action and make it more exciting. But the walls are always closed at night and there is only action if they go into the maze in the morning but in the morning grievers don't even come out. That is what I would change if i was the author of the book but so far this is a good book

I'm reading "Wenny has Wings" by Janet Lee Carey, and I'm on page 75. If I could make a change, I would change the main character's negativity. I understand it is tough trying to cope with someone's death but it seems as if Will has always been negative. He is constantly blaming his dead sister for things and he insults people. It's not right for this to continue. That's what I would change.

The name of my book is Nazi Hunters by Neal Bascomb and I'm in page 115. If I were the author of this book there would be only one thing I would change. I would try to make the book more exciting. For example, the book is all facts but I would try to add some details about the mission that would excite the reader. In the part where I'm at currently, the United States is right about Adolf Eichmann but it doesn't sound interesting. I would make the book sound more Mission Impossible but keep all the facts.

In stead of Grunsday being in between Wednesday and Thursday it would be in between Saturday and Sunday. It would be in between those days because if I were the main character I would want to have a 3 day weekend instead of having a random day off every week. I would also give an explanation of why Grunsday is in between those certain days.

dgross4 said...

nherring4 I would do the same.

The book that I am currently reading is The False Prince by Jennifer A. Nielson. I would change Roden a little bit to where he is a slacker. Roden doesn't get involved in his classes like Tobias but still learns. Roden is a mix between Tobias and Sage. I am on page 156.

The book I am reading is Hero by Mike Lupica and I am on page 180. If I was the author of the book I would try to explain more about the main character Zach’s father but that could be the twist of the book because nobody really knows allot about Zach father. Another thing I would change is the Title, there’s nothing wrong with it but personally I think Hero is too plain and dull. In the book Zach gets a Silver Morgan Coin from his dad that gives him powers according to the book, so I would name the book something like “The Silver Morgan”. Hero is a fine title and I am not saying mine is any better but I feel Hero is too open and is a term used too much in stories like this.

cchesser5 said...

I am reading "Wonder" by RJ Palacio and I'm on page 291. If I could change anything about the book, I would make it describe what August looks like. August has a face deformity. All the book says is "I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse." I feel like if it described him, then we would have a better visual of him and we could connect it better to what's happening in the book.

The name of the book that I am reading is called My Little Phony I am on Page 75 and this book is by Lisi Harrison. If I could change one thing about my book I would have change how the main characters act towards their peers. You can tell that they only care about themselves and nobody when on page 2 they gossip about other people's wardrobe while taking a day off of school at the spa. The main characters think just because they wear designer and that their parents donate to the school that they are superior over everyone else. Being that they are popular everyone basically worships them and doesn't care about themselves or their own personalities. The reason that I would change this is because if everyone was equal and no one feel inferior or superior to anyone else they would have a better environment at the school with no bullies or rulers of the school.

The book I am currently reading is City of Bones from The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. If I were Cassandra Clare, the only thing I'd change is the length of the book. It is 485 pages, but I'd love for it to be longer and maybe a little less suspense in between events. It is the first book in the series, so there has to be some suspension at the end of book. This book leaves you in suspense at the end of a chapter or a particular page. Like on page 370, Have is taken by Valentine and the readers are left in suspense about what happened to him. I'd probably write a page that at least let's the readers know he's alright. This way, we'd still be in suspense, but we'd know he was alright and wouldn't be so worried.

I am currently reading the book Wonder by R.J. Palacio and am on page 202. If I were the author of this book and I could change anything, I would change the way people react towards August. When people first see August they have a very obvious reaction, whether it is shock or horror August always notices the person’s alteration in demeanor. For example, in the story on page 187 when Justin is meeting August for the first time he was very surprised. Via had previously told Justin about how her brother looked but he was still very surprised. He says “Surprise is one of those emotions that can be hard to fake…” August is always expressing that he’s use to the stares and the looks of horror and shock but the author shows how sometimes it really gets to him. This is why I would change people’s reactions.

The way Percy reacted when she died is so sad but the main reason I would not let her die is so that way Thalia and Percy don't shoot lightning(Thalia), and shoot water(Percy) at each other. Another reason I would want to make these changes is so a war doesn't start between Zeus and Posiden.

Because the bully started it and he was choking Roy. It was the best choice for Roy to get out of the bully's arms. So that is why I think Roy shouldn't of gotten in trouble and since he did get in trouble people are onto him because he is new and that is not a good reputation.

The book I have read is Flush by Carl Hiaasen and I am finished with the book. If I were the author, I would have made a slight change that would make Grandpa Bobby, grandfather of the main character, more relevant in the story. They made it so that Bobby and his backstory is only meant as a slight history on the main character’s family outside of the book’s finale, which I won’t spoil. I would have changed it so that Bobby’s backstory had a much bigger effect on the actions on both the main character Noah and his father Paine. Why make such a character so important in the finale when he wasn’t really that important outside of it is what I mean.

The book I am currently reading is Ranger's Apprentice by John Flanagan and I have currently finished the book on page 262. If I were the author of the book I have read I would change one thing, i would change the fact that we have only one perspective in the story. In the book Ranger's Apprentice we see the story through the protaganists the so called good guys, but if I were the author I would make it so we can have the book have both point of views through the protaganist's and antaganist's eyes. I would do this because it makes the story have two view points which can make readers wonder who the good guys truly are. "... for the coming war with Morgorath."(pg prologue). The book does not shift to Morgorath after speaking of him which takes out the view of the antaganist.

I would have also changed that.

I am reading "Fantasy League" by Mike Lupica and I'm on page 278. If I was the author I would change the intro on the back. The thing I would change on the back is to give less information. By doing this, it won't give away the whole story. This will let the readers be more interested and not knowing what will happen.

Esmith5 Nice book.

The book I've read is "Woven" made by Micheal Jensen and David Powers King and I've already finished the book. If I were the author of this book I wouldn't want to change much at all but one thing I might have changed is changed the way Nels dies in the start. I wouldn't want him to live since that ruins the whole book and plus he doesn't truly dies. At the start of the book the magic art of weaving within this world wasn't explained. What happened was that Nels was paralyzed and couldn't move. First a thimble protected him from thrown knives but then the thimble fell out of his pocket and died from a sorcery that caused a tree to fall on him. I would've made it to where it was better explained.

GMaran6 said...

@Gazam5 Well the back of the book is made to put the basis of the plot down so it must reveal a tiny bit to entice you.

GMaran6 said...

@nlabender5 Well it's all in the eyes of the beholder.

I am reading the young world by Chris Weitz, and I am on chapter 10. If I was the author I would of changed the characters around for example I would of had 5 characters with different emotions. So that during the adventures deadly story there couple be that funny character to put a smile on people's faces so that the reader can have mix emotions on what they are feeling while they are reading.

I'm currently reading Hoot by Carl Hiaasen and I'm on page 198. If I could change one thing about this book it would be to add more characters. I would add more characters because with more characters there is more opinions and perspectives. Having more opinions and perspectives will make the book a lot more interesting. So far I'm really enjoying this book.

The book that I am currently reading is "Red Queen" by Victoria Aveyard and I have recently finished the book. If I were the author of this book there are only I few things that I would change. One of these being the way it begins. To me the beginning of my book was extremely slow and boring but once it got going it was a very interesting book. The second thing that I would change is the location of the book. A lot of the book is unexplained and me personally I like to know where a books story is located.

Nvance5 said...

@DBecker4 I loved everything about that book.

I am currently reading the book “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart. If I were the author of this book, I would either acutely change the story line or elaborate more on the events that happened after Cadence’s accident. Some parts can be very confusing if you don’t exactly pick up on what is going on early on in the book. The author uses specific elements, such as foreshadowing in indirect ways to make the storyline more interesting. However, the reader has to really sink below the surface in order to understand what is going on and why things are the way they are and for some this can be difficult. I would change these parts of the book by making them less open ended and more straightforward so the audience would be able to understand the plotline better. I would also elaborate more on certain events in the book. A main pattern I’ve noticed in the book is that the author will bring up an event but won’t really include details about it, some events aren’t even relevant to the story line and I feel this can bore or confuse readers at times. Other than that I think this book is really well written and I find it very interesting to read.

I am currently reading the book "hatchet" by Gary Paulsen if I were the author of this book I would change the way in which the pilot die. Later the way in which he learn to hunt and do fire because in my point of view, he learn so much fast. May be I would change the place in which he is because, the place look too perfect, water, food, everything close. I would elaborate more events between "clumsy and smart" may be more mistakes or something like that.

The book I'm currently reading is Artemis Fowl the Opal deception, by Eoin Coffer and I'm on page 354. If I could change anything in the book I would make the book a little longer, because it doesn't really get to the conclusion at the end of the book. The author didn't give you solitude he kind of left you hanging. I would also change the emotions of Artemis Fowl, because his emotions didn't really fit his character and threw the book off. But those are the only things I would change in this book

the book I am reading is Allegiant by Veronica Roth, I am on page 96. if I could change anything about the book, I would change the characters. I wouldn't have killed her mother from the first book because I think tris needs someone to look up to. I also would change how things were going between "four" and her. I probably would have gave the readers some more info and actions with just the two of them.

The book I'm reading is Flawless by Sara Shepard and I'm on page 156. One thing I would change about this book is that we don't get a lot of information about "A". I would want to know more about "A" because we kind of thing it's Mona. Another thing I would change is I was the author would be to give the reader more clues on Ali's disappearance. I would do this because it's hard to follow along with what happens to her.

I have finished The 39 Clues One False Note and the author is Gordon Korman. If I could change something about the book it would probably be more suspense and action. I would change that because the action would catch the readers attention. I would also give all the 39 clues cliff hangers. It would make readers want to read more of the 39 clues.

I am currently reading Imperfect Spiral by Debbie Levy and I am on page 91. The way the book is set up is that every other chapter is a flashback to before Henry was killed. If I was the author I would change that. I would put all of the things that happened before he died first and then put everything after he died. The way the book is set up can get confusing at sometimes and I believe that doing that will help with the confusion.

I am reading Scat by Carl Hiaasen and I am on page 301. If I were the author, I would change the fact that one of the panther kittens died. It was really sad because there are so few Florida panthers left. It would have been great if both could have been reunited with their mother. To me, the kitten's death was the saddest part of the book and I didn't expect that to happen. However, the fact that one of the kittens survived and was reunited in the wild with its mother was a happy part of this section of the book.

The book I am currently reading in call Beholding Bee by Kimberly Newton Fusco and i am on page 20. Although i haven't read much of my book, I still know most of it. If i was the author i would change is how the story starts. Instead of it going strait to the carnival, i think it should start with her back story of where her mom is and her birthmark. I think it would give more of an understanding to the book.

the book im reading is called old yeller I dont remember the author's name. The book is about a dog named old yeller that was ugly but was a good dog. Even though he was a theif in the night he always watched out for his family. I would change instead of saying that he was a ugly dog i would have said that he was a very graceful innocent looking dog that had no house or home. Also He lived alone in the woods where he found a little boy all by himself. That would have made the story more passionate and exciting.

The book I'm reading is Ark Angel by Anthony Horowitz, and I'm on page 249. If I were Anthony Horowitz, I would change the backstory of the main character, Alex Rider. This is because both of his parents died off very early in his life and don't get much mentioning. I think having his parents in the story would be very cool and a twist to the story. They would also help Alex on missions.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee page 154

I would change the details in the book. I feel that there is too much little stuff in the book that could be taken out. If these were taken out the story would be much shorter. To Kill a Mockingbird is a great book and not much needs to be removed. I just get sick of reading pages with little stuff that isn't important.

I am currently reading The Eighth Day by Dianne K. Salerni and I’m on page 142. If I was the author I would change that his parents died and just make them abandon him and he just finds them later in life. I would make that change because it would drag the story further and make things with a twist. It would also change the dynamic and would maybe make the ending happier. That’s what I would change if I was the author.
