I am currently reading Starters by Lissa Price and I am on page 184. I am loving how this story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future where a few wars called the Spore Wars wiped out everybody between the age of twenty and sixty. I don’t love how some of the Starters or kids sell their bodies to renters that are Enders or old people who want be young again to use their bodies. I love that the main character is putting her live on the line to help out her brother who has a disease that may or may not kill him. I don’t love that the main character has to kill somebody to protect the world but the Voice of her renter is telling her that she knows this person will endanger the world but Callie, the main character, doesn’t want to kill this person because she doesn’t trust the Voice.

I am reading the book Dork Diaries by Rachel Renee Russell and I am on page 65. I really like this book because I can really relate to the main character Nikki. Nikki is a dork, like me, and we both have awkward moments when we're around people. Sometimes I can relate to Nikki because we don't know what to say in front of our crushes or someone says something so mean it just ruins our day. Nikki has to deal with the mean girl Mackenzie, she has to do crazy, insane things with her BFFs and she tries to win Brandon's heart. It's really fun to read about all of Nikki's crazy adventures and insane things she does just to get Brandon to like her. For the mini project, I'm doing the collage because it would be fun to cut out pictures from magazines and glue them onto a poster.

The book Im reading now is My Ishmael by Daniel Quinn. I am on page 31.
so far i'm really enjoying my book. It focuses on many topics and ideas that i am very interested in. Topics like the declining state of society, and the idea that there may be some alien species that can teach us how to live peacefully with each other. for the mini project I'm doing the collage. i think that it would be easy, but also fun to use pictures to represent the true, and deep meaning of this book.

I am currently reading Cat among the pigeons by Julia Golding, i am in page 77. What i like about the book is that Cat and Pedro have a nice friendship they always help each other. Cat and Pedro dance at the Royal thearer , and it is nice to hear how they describe their dance moves. What I do not like about the book is that Pedro is a black slave and the book takes place in the 60's (the civil rights movement) and his owner wants him , but he refuses to live with the man. I think i will do the collage and the timeline for the mini project.

I'm reading Daniel X by James Patterson and am currently on page 57. So far I've really enjoyed the book, I like how the author gave the main character Daniel the superpower to create whatever he wants. The only thing I don't like is sometimes the author dost really make t clear when he is creating things or if its real life. For the mini project I'm thinking about doing the timeline or the collage. The time line because its kind of easy and I liked doing them, and the collage because I like pictures and describing things with them.

@RRaisch6 Great Job!
@Rohlendorf2 Interesting book!

I am reading "Bad Girls Don't Die" by Katie Alender and I am on page 30. I love how the book already has a lot of action in it. Most books start out very slow at first but this book gets to the point. I am going to do the collage as my mini project. I like the idea of representing a book by only pictures. So far the book has many interesting scenes I could draw.

i am reading "I am a seal team-six warrior, and the authors are Howard E. Wasdin and Stephen Templin, and i have read this whole book. The thing i love about this book is that it's about navy seals and the army (and i enjoy to learn about the navy or army). And i also enjoy it because it can be used as an informative story so you can learn more about the navy seals and their "War Plans" and the battles they fought. But i mostly enjoy this book because its about 2 of my most favorite things. Guns and battles, and now i know there was actually a real battle called "The battle of Mogadishu".

I am reading Ghost of War by Ryan Smithson, I am on page 35. I love how deep and how much action this book has. It is telling the story of a real life 19 year old who was stationed in the army. He is describing what is around him and his whole story about joining the Army and what is happening while he is in the Army.

I am currently reading Chomp by Carl Hiaasen and I am on page 13. Even though I just started this book, I already like it. My favorite part of this book is the fact that the main characters live with tons of wild animals in their backyard. I'm not loving how the father is injured right now. He got a major concussion from a dead iguana falling from a tree. For the mini project, I'm going to do the collage because I will be able to put tons of pictures of pretty animals.

I am currently reading Deep Blue by Jennifer Donnelly, and I am on page 45. The book is about mermaids, in fact, it even has a mermaid on the cover. This is what I like about my book, I have been obsessed with mermaids ever since I knew what they were. What I really don't like about my book is the whole situation with royalty. Typically, when it comes to reading books, I have a hard time comprehending the whole royalty situations. Each story involving royalty tends to contain different traditions, different etiquette, different styles, etc. Now, for the independent reading project I plan to do the collage. I've only just started my book today and I already have some really good and creative ideas. My only hope is that I can be resourceful as possible with my ideas.

What I am disliking about this book is that its moving so slow. In Korman's other books the action starts pretty quick. I think I am going to do the collage for my mini project.

I'm reading The Line by Teri Hall and on page 16. What I love about the book so far is that it's very different from a lot of other book then the books I read in the past. I what I don't love about is that it is very boring at the beginning and hard to keep on reading but after the first the chapter it gets good. And for the mini project I'm thinking of a collage. Or maybe the plot line but still undecided.

@RRaisch6 Good Job :D

My book is "The Man In the Box' by Mary Lois Dunn and i am currently on page 37. I love that my book is taking place a long time ago and the main character Chau Li can relate to the man in the box. I also love how Chau Li is trying to help the man in the box escape no matter what his punishment would be.

I am currently reading one for the murphy's by Lynda mullaly hunt. I am on page 51. I like this book because it has a real emotional feeling, and can make you feel what the book is trying to express. In the book a girl has to go to a foster parent because her mom cant take care of her but she doesn't really understand why she is there, her mom gets drunk all the time and gambles, she also has a newly abusive husband. For the mini project I will be doing the collage, I think I could express the book more in pictures.

I am reading Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson, and I am on page 37. I am not very far into my book yet, but I already know I am going to love getting to know the world that the author created. Because the book is post-apocalyptic, a lot has changed from what the world is like now, and I can't wait to learn about the changes in society. I also really like the mystery the author has already created in the book. I believe I will be doing the Timeline for my mini-project because I already know a lot of events to put on it, and I think it would also be fun.

VNelson2: Your book sounds interesting.

fwbougher: Nice job.

I am currently on page 216 of the book Flawless by Sara Shepard. The part that I love about the book so far is that its mysterious and "A" is already texting and threatening Aria, Hanna, Emily and Spencer. "A" is also one thing I love about the book because I don't know who "A" is yet and not knowing is aggravating but its also part of the fun. I love how when "A" texts one of them they get all freaked out. I also like it when they guess who "A" is but it really isn't that person. The mini project I'm thinking about doing for this book is the plot timeline because there are a lot of good and bad important events in this book.

The book that i am reading is called the boy at the end of the world by Greg van Eekhout.i am currently on page 25 of this book. what I love about this book is that it has a post apocalyptic yet futuristic touch to it.i don't like how the main character Fisher, is born though (its kind of gross)but i like how he meets this robot that was born to protect him.i later find out that the robot's name is Click. the mini project I am thinking about doing for this story is the story timeline because i think that this is the perfect project for this book.

I am reading Torment by Lauren Kate and I am on page 128. I am loving that Luce has to go to the new school and that she is curious. She is curious about the shadows and after her teachers tell her not to mess with them she goes into the woods and does exactly what her teachers told her not to. That makes things interesting. I don't like that her roommate Shelby and her don't get along. I think the story would be better if the actually liked each other. I am doing the collage mini project because I think it would be the easier one to do and also the most fun one.

RRaisch6: Nice blog.

I like how he's independent and tries to survive in these rough conditions. For my mini-project im think about doing the collage. Its looks fun to do and it will fit my book very well.

The book I am currently reading is called, “33 Minutes” by Todd Hasak-lowy and I am on page 17. I like the fact that the main character, Sam Lewis, has enthusiasm about learning and studying. Also, he is very curious and laughable during classes and breaks. However, I don’t like the scene that his friends humiliates him when he participates during class. I assume that it’s mainly because he talks a lot. In addition, I think I will choose to do collage because I enjoy drawing and cutting pictures.

I am currently reading "Don't Pass Go" by: Kirkpatrick Hill. i am on page 30.I don't like reading in general but what i don't like specifically about this book is that the main character, Deet is just a geek to me. All he ever does is try and organize things,do extra work even if there will be no extra credit just because he feels like it. I Wouldn't like this kid if he went to my school. He even corrected his own mother for saying a word in the wrong tense of language! I am not entirely sure what mini-project i will choose but it will either be the collage or the timeline.

I am currently on the book "The Kidnappers" by Willo Davis Roberts, page 77. I am loving how much mystery and how fast-paced it is.There is always another plot twist that is so intriguing. I do not love how young the main character is. The main character is Joel, who is 11. Because osf Joels young age, many people do not believe him about the kidnapping, and say he is just imagining it. This really irritates me because age will not change whether you saw a kidnapping or not, it is completely ridiculous.

I am currently reading The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian by C. S. Lewis. I am on page 56. So far I’m absolutely loving this book. I really liked the movie but never read the book. I love the plot of the story, like how the 2 kings and queens return to Narnia by a distress call from a Prince to help defeat his evil Uncle who wants to rule Narnia. I find it outstanding how the children have only been away for a year, but in Narnia, it has been hundreds of years. I can’t wait to read more! Currently I am reading “Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets” by J.K. Rowling. I am on page 135. In the beginning of the book it makes you think that they're going to be straight to the point. And while they explained a good handful of things, they were not straight to the point. The mini-project I'm going to be doing for the book I am reading is collage. Collage- create a collage using pictures, words, creative items, etc. that represents your book. This needs to be creative and worthy of being hung up on the wall.

@rohlendorf2- Great job

@RRaisch6- Cool

I am reading, I am the cheese by Robert Cormier i am on page 26. What I am loving about this book is that it feels like a true story. I am doing the time-line mini project for the book. What I don't love about the book pretty much nothing.What else I love about the book is that it pretty dang cool.

I am currently reading "Lock and Key" by Sarah Dessen and I am on page 37. I love the book so far because it already has a lot going on in it and its not starting off slow. The book talks about how the main character has to move to her sisters house but she hasn't seen her sister in 10 years so that already gives the book some conflict. I am considering the collage because I already love making them and I believe it would be a lot of fun!

@vnelson2 great job!

I am currently reading The Kill Order by James Dashner and I'm currently on page 16. What I am loving about the book so far is the bit of humor and action. Also it gives great details about how and why things happened the way it did. The mini project I'm going to do is the collage mini project for my first independent reading book. I chose that project because I think this mini project will be fun to do and easy.

I am reading "small as an elephant" by Jennifer Richard Jacobson and I am on page 30. What I like about this book is the book cover because it is cute and funny. Everyone knows that elephants are big, but it says "small as an elephant" on the book cover. Also, I love this book because it is a easy book to read. Some books are hard to read and hard to understand, but this book is easy to understand .The makes the reader understand easily. For the mini project I am going to do the Collage because I think this book would be good for the Collage.

@rohlendorf2 I want to read that book great!

My book is called Trails and Targets by Kelly Eileen Hake and I am on page 82. The thing I don't love about my book is the pace. I feel like the book is going so slow and that the climax is going to be near the end instead of the middle. However, one thing I love about my book is the use of six main characters. It allows you to look at the book from all different perspectives. The project I am going to be doing for this book is the collage.

I am currently reading “Dead Is a Battle-Field” by Marlene Perez and I’m on page 28. I don’t really like that they don’t tell you later on what they were talking about, which can get a little confusing at times. I’m thinking of doing a plot timeline because there are a lot of events that have happened even though I’m not the far into the book. It may be fairly easy project to do on this book.

I am reading I am Number 4 by Pittacus Lore, and I'm on page 56. So far I am loving the story's mix of science fiction and a modern kid's life. The main character moves around a lot which reminds me of kids i've known in the pas who have had to leave because of military parents or new jobs. Although the book at first seems a story about your everyday kid things change when he starts getting special scars and SUPER POWERS! I think for my book project I'll make the collage, because the story uses lots of details to describe the life of the main character, making it easy to picture. I think because the story's details are so easy to picture it'd be easy to draw and find pictures of the story's details, which I feel would make making a collage easy.

JPerkins5 said...

@RRaisch6 your book sounds like mine, your everyday character with relatable features and moments. I'm sure it'll be fun to find features that relate to your story in magazines.

The current book I am reading is football champion by Pat Hughes and I am on page 45. I am reading The Big Time by Tim Green, and I am on page 12. This book is the fourth book in the series that I'm reading. In every book Troy has wanted to meet his father. At the very beginning of this book Troy's father knocks on the door and is talking about how he's sorry for not visiting Troy and that he never even knew Troy existed. He is truly sorry and really wants to start a relationship with Troy. The part of my book that I don't like is that Troy's mom doesn't even give Troy's dad a chance. She just makes him leave. I don't think that was very fair to Troy or his father. I am going to do the collage for my mini project.

I am reading "the Open Window" by Lemony Snicket and I am on page 42. what I really like and enjoy about this book is that after every chapter it keeps you very suspenseful. what I don't really like about the book is how the orphans really never get a happily ever after. So far I have read the first two books from the series and the orphans were never actually happy. but what I also really like about this book is how there never is just one setting the orphans are all over the place.

I am currently reading "Don't Look Behind You" by Lois Duncan. I am on page 88. I figured this would be a good book because the title got my attention. It seemed like it would be a suspenseful, enjoyable book. What I am not loving about it is that is not the case. The book goes on forever and seems like nothing very suspenseful is going to happen. I feel like it's a very dragging, repetitive book. I hope that as I continue to read it, it will get better. I believe I am going to do the collage mini project but I am not sure yet.

This is a quality that I believe all books should have, and I feel that it is important if you want the readers to be interested in your book. Eragon , Christopher Paolini , currently on page 240
Christopher makes Eragon believable by making it sound like he has seen him with his own eyes. Every little detail is in place from the color of his eyes to the way his hair falls. Eragon seems like he could be based off of a real life kid that Christopher saw. Christopher is so descriptive of what is going on he makes it so your mental picture is very vivid.
