Blog #1 Due: Tuesday 9/6/11

Take a few minutes and look back at last years blog questions and comments.
Pick at least one response that you think is a good example of how to correctly answer the blog.  List the Blog # and the username and why you think it is a good example of how to get an 'A' on your blog each week.  Also, pick out at least one example of what not to do when answering the blog.  List the Blog # and username and why it is an example of how not to get an  'A' on your blog each week.
Lastly, let us know if you are excited about using the blog or are nervous about it and why.
Do not forget to comment on at least 2 other responses.

I think the blog is very creative. You can get a very easy grade just by answering in a complete sentance. I know for sure this will be an easy A.

npegg2 said...

a good example of a comment that would get you an A is anomari2's comment on blog 14 because it is in depth 3 or more sentences and meets all the requirements of a good comment.an example of what not to do is cmartin's blog where all they said was "that is a movie" because it does not meet the reqirements.

On Blog #16, I think that aouellette3 responded to the topic very well. She went into detail and described certain events that happened during the year, and even used the names of the people involved. She gave me a good idea of how to getting a good grade! For a comment that wasn't go good also on Blog #16, I feel like what drmcn said, wasn't very good. He said "that is so funny when they rap." Okay, well it may be funny, but how do people know that it's funny? He didn't really explain what happened or why he personally thought that the kids rapping was funny.

On Blog #13, I think kmedero2 gave a really good explanation for why her friend Amber would like the book Frindle, by Andrew Clements. She went into supporting the 2 reasons to why Amber would like it. A comment that wasn't so good was when tirwin3 just said "Nice." in response to another comment on Blog #13. I didn't like it because a one word response just doesn't seem good enough. I'm very excited about using the blog this year because I've never done anything like this and I love using technology. It's a lot easier for me than keeping up with a reading log.

tgarrison2 said...

Blog#16 jbills3
He wrote an examlple of what not to do.One word is not enough to get an "A" in the blog you have to atleast say a few more words.

A good example of this is Blog#16 aadusiaw3 he/she gave many reasons why she liked Mrs. A. Thomas' class that year and what she disliked about the class. She also used a specific event from that year to support her opinion about that class.

bferguson2 said...

npegg2, I saw anomari2's! I almost did it, but the topic about the end of the year caught my eye! I agree with you, because hers WAS in depth, she went into great detail and really gave me a good idea of how to get an A :)

awashington2 said...

I think kyoung2 would be an A on blog # 13 because he answered well and he used complete sentences. He gave specific names to who he would recommend the book to.

drumore2 said...

blog#16 kbroome04

The reason I picked this post was because the person who wrote this post was not doing what they were told to write about. Instead the put that other people are so meen.

A good example would be. Why would you guys say such meen things about a class you do not know. If you do not like a class then you should just not say bad stuff about them. If you do not like our class then leave the class. I am in the class you are talking about and i do not like the things you are saying about this class. and that is a good example of a blog

Astine2 said...

Blog #16, Twilliams03. this is a good example of how to get an 'A' because they answered all of the questions asked, and described why they chose those answers.
Blog #1, dmcbroom2. This is not the correct way to answer a blog, because there are only 3 sentences. This person does not use proper grammar or spelling in their answer, and there are a few run-on sentences.
I am sort of excited about using the blog, becuase i like doing things on the internet. I would rather type on the computer to answer the questions, than write on paper.

bhoffmann2 said...

I think a good example from lasts years blogs is one by TWilliams3 on blog number 16. This is a good example of how to do a blog, because he really went into many details about his favorite and least favorite part of the year. Also he didn't just use a bunch of random fluff or repeat himself to make his blog seem longer. A bad example of a blog post from last year was also on blog number 16 and it was by bwagner 2. This was a bad example of a blog to do because it was rather short, and he pretty much just talked about how he was rapping the whole time. It seems like he didn't put much thought into the effort he just did it to get it done and over with.

sbogue2 said...

bferguson2,
I liked how you suggested how the other people's comments could be better if they would have done things differently. Also, I like how descriptive you were about how you liked aouellette3's post.

kwilliams2 said...

I think blog number 15 is a good example to aswer the blog correctly because they answer the question correctly and they stay on topic.

bferguson2 said...

sbogue2,
I like how you really went into good detail about why you liked kmedero2's comment! You made sure you read it very well, and gave the support needed to reach the requirements of getting a good grade. I also really liked that you added how you feel about the blog and how it's going to help you, at the end of your comment. :)

bhoffmann2 said...

Sorry forgot about the last part! I am excited about using the blog because it means that I get to type things instead of having to handwrite them and it saves trees so we can all breathe air! :)

awashington2 said...

Exactly tgarrison2 that’s why people don’t get good grades because they don’t follow directions.

Astine2 said...

bhoffmann2;

you're right about the whole off-topic thing. The blog should be related to the post, not random.

drumore2 said...

tgarrison2, I htink that the post this person put about how the other person needs to put more than one word is not enough in the blog.

kwilliams2 said...

I think the blog is a nice way to get an easy grade.By staying on topic and answering in a complete sentence.I know there is no way you cant get a good grade.

anichols2 said...

Blog #16, Twilliams03. I think it is a good example because they used their opinion and was very thorough. They also didn't just have a 3 word answer that said what they liked, they explained.
Blog #5, jbaptiste2. I think it wasn't a good blog because they did not explain why, they just answered the question with out doing what the question said exactly.
I am excited about using the blog because it is a much easier way to check to see if people are reading their books or not. You also get to know a little bit about others books that maybe you would want to read to!

sbogue2 said...

bhoffman2,
I agree with you on typing instead of writing on paper and how it's more eath-friendly! :)

khaldeman2 said...

There are alot of good comments but on Blog #15 the comment by sdeemer2 caught my eye. She mentioned the title, author, and she used descriptive language to tell what it was about. I tbink all these helpful comments will help me get an A on these assignments.

tgarrison2 said...

bferguson2, I agree with Brooke the guy only said "that is so funny when they rap". What about the rap is funny? Give an example of when and why it was funny. I also agree about the girl. She gave specific examples about what she enjoyed in Mrs. A. Thomas' class.

nmongo2 said...

On blog number ten i think DmcBroom2 had a great response because she answered the question completely and had great detail.I think Eswanson4's answer wasn't that good because he did not give enough detail and it was a poor answer. I feel ok about the blog because i do like to read but it will add to the homewook. I think I will do very well on the blog.I hope to meet all of your reqirements.

bhoffmann2 said...

AStine2, I agree with you about the bad example, from what you said it is an extremely bad example of a post, make sure you don't do one like that!

Astine2 said...

npegg2;

"that is a movie" is not a proper comment, you're right. The comments should be longer, and have some thought put into them.

anichols2 said...

bferguson2,
I agree. She did have good details!

drumore2 said...

aneal2, I think that you need to post a little more about the subject at hand. Not just a easy A i think that you should put just a little more in you blog awnsers.

bhoffmann said...

npegg2, did the person really only say "that is a movie"? That's not even a complete sentence!

bhoffmann2 said...

on my last post i meant to put a two sorry..

aneal2 said...

A good example of getting an a is from Tland3 because just by reading some pretty good books that can get you an very easy A. I never really knew a lot of people liked the Percy Jackson series, but at least me and some one have some things in common. So I think that Tland3 got an A for answering the blog correctly.

twilson2 said...

Blog #9, Username: ebowers4, to me this seems like a good example. It was nicely formatted and there were few grammar errors. The format made it easy to read and there was no confusion about what he/she was writing. They kept there blog focused generally on one area of how you can do better on the FCAT. I think bullets were a little different and probably may not be the best part of the comment, but overall it was great. I like the way this blog works and I feel like I can be more open to others about my opinions.

npegg2 said...

A good example of a comment that would get you an A is anomari2's comment on blog 14. This is a good example because it is in depth and has five or more sentences. Also all the requirements of a good comment are met. An example of what not to do is mogarro2's comment on blog number one. In this comment they didn't have five sentences and it wasn’t in depth so it does not follow the guidelines.

anichols2 said...

npegg2,
You are right when cmartin's blog said "that is a movie" because they did not meet the guidelines at all.

jcarreras2 said...

A bad example of a post would be the one posted by Rstraub in blog 10. This person used complete senteces and used accurate puntuationbut but they never mentioned anything about the book; only that it was for class the person. Also he or she did not reply to any other person who posted.
A good example of a person who posted would be bclark3 also in blog 10. This person described what page they were on and why they loved the book they also posted on others peoples post which is one of the requirments.

tgarrison2 said...

sbouge2, I agree with her beacuse just saying nice isnt enough to get an "A" in Mrs. A. Thomas' class. You have to say why you like that comment. But the other person said why her friend would like Frindle.

awilson2 said...

I think Lmehan4 is a good example of how to get an "A" in Reading Class. He explained what his favorite and least favorite moment of Reading Class that year. He had good punctuation, and had nice details to what he was talking about. He explained what his favorite moment was with great humor. He explained what his least favorite moment was without any unkind words and was very thoughful.

crichardson2 said...

I think amonari2 on blog number 10 makes a great example of what your blog should look like. The students' blog followed all the requirements. she answered the questons fully and she sounded very sophisticated. the were a few students that didn't answer in ways that made sense but he/she did. when you're on the blog you shouldn't say anything off topic or inappropriate. I think that i'm really excited about using the blog.

hpeel2 said...

sdeemer2, his example of kids playing around was interesting and specfic on the last blog,nreed2 however posted blogs that were unrealated to the topic, they were about spelling errors and they were short.I am nervous about the blog it seems complicated.I liked the blog that sdeemer2 posted about some boys who rapped.I also liked kfundenburg4's comment on how every day was fun in 4th period.

sjun2 said...

Blog #16, TWilliams03, writes a long and detailed comment about his/hers favorite momment. I think thats a good way to get an A because he wrote a paragraph and met the requirments. Blog #15, ebrower4, he kind of goes off topic and he doesn't really descrip the book. I'm excited about using this blog since I don't need to do it on paper. I am also nervous since I might forget and I can't do it in the last moment.

ekim2 said...

blog #15, cmazza3
I think cmazza3's post on blog #15is a good post because they met all the requirements of the blog. They explained everything clearly and gave me a good idea of what the book was about.
blog #12, jcsandercook2
I think jcsandercook2's post on blog #12 could be better because they didn't always have correct punctuation or capitialization. They also didn't choose an actor/actress or explain their reasons.
I think the blog is a good way to earn grades and interact with each other online. Typing is also easier than writing.

nmongo2 said...

khaldenman2, i agree on sdeemer2 she responded very well. She gave massive detail and she makes me wanna read that same book.

npegg2 said...

bhoffmann2 your'e right they did have alot of details and came up with more info and didnt just repeat themselves.

kwilliams2 said...

I dont think anybody should answer thier blog like jbills3 on blog fourteen because theuy dont answer in a complete sentence and their not even on the topic.

Jdale2 said...

I think on blog #15, that Kfundenburg4 is a good example on how to get an "A" because she really describes the book she is reading. I liked how she told me how Ted Burger was poisoned. Also she let me know who the book was written by. The best think is when she let's me know the little facts because is makes me want to read the book by myself. I think this student has great punctuation, spelling and grammar.

tfried2 said...

Blog#12:
i think jblumer3 didnt respond to well because her only reason for keeping the actors that already plauyed in the movie based on her book was because they were "very good actors". She should have expanded on that.
Then tnirwin3 did a good job because she said what was different from the movie and the book and how it changed the story a little.

nmongo2 said...

Aneal2, I think it would be an easy A to. I have never did a blog before so this will be a great experience.

npegg2 said...

tgarrison2 i agree one word is not enough to get an A.

twilson2 said...

I think an example of how not to get an a was khunziker on Blog#11 he/she had 3 sentences which doesnt meet the requirements and give very little details of the book. When he was trying to explain the topic it was much to broad and didnt go into detail.

awashington2 said...

I agree with u awilson2 because i saw Lmehan4 but then i saw my friend krys young and i knew he had srtaight a's and b's so i went with his.

hpeel2 said...

I agree with npegg2 that blog was in depth. I also agree with bferguson that blog went itno the topic in a great way.

dgillespie2 said...

One good example of how to correctly answer the blog was what amonari2 said on blog14. His/Her response met all the required information said in the blog question, included support, and good details. One good example of how to incorrectly answer the blog would be what tkeatley4 said on blog13 at May 2,5:29PM. Their statment hold no relevent infomation related to the blog question.

ekim2 said...

I think cmazza3's post on blog #15 is a good post because they met all the requirements of the blog. They explained everything clearly and gave me a good idea of what the book was about.
I think jcsandercook2's post on blog #12 could be better because they didn't always have correct punctuation or capitalization. They also didn't choose an actor/actress or explain their reasons.
I think the blog is a good way to earn grades and interact with each other online. Typing is also easier than writing.

sjun2 said...

I agree with sbogue2 about "nice" being a poor comment

khaldeman2 said...

A bad example would be on blog #13 where Tkeatley just said cool that is not enough to get an A.

smasingil5 said...

I think that gfleck3 had a good answer for blog number 15. i think that this is a good answer because this person answered all the questions they were supposed to answer. This person made it look easy to get an easy 'A'.

Ntburke5 said...

I think a very good blog was on blog number 14 by ccastillo2 because, it was 6 sentences and that’s one more than needed too. He also explains a good portion of his book and makes you really know what he is reading. A bad example of a blog is cmartin on blog number 14 because his entire comment was “that was a movie” in response to emonari2. I’m also very excited about using the blog this year again because last year in Mrs. Cheshire’s class we used a blog too.

Ntburke5 said...

@ npegg2 i saw that too, and i used it as my original comment for a bad example, i think he just didnt care about the blog.

MRichards5 said...

A good example of a comment that deserves an A would be a comment on Blog 15 by bwagner2. It shows in his comment all the answers to the immediate question, aswell as a biased and factual response to how the story was good.

A rather bad example of a post, I have found, would be on also on Blog 15 by esmith2, because it lacks in some good information it could have harvested. To be honest, as well, I probably wouldn't be so estactic to pick up that book whereas others almost sent me running to the store.

As for your last question, I would love to use this blog, and I am very excited for it! If there is one thing I love doing, it is typing on computers. I'll be thrilled to right each and every response, and I can't wait to get started.

asellers5 said...

i think Kfundenburg4 posted an excellent reposnce to last year's post 15. It was on an interesting topic, well organized, thoughfull, and detailed. She was also able to keep me intested in the book but still not give the ending away. The topic of Kfundenburg4's post was the book 10 Things to dobefore I Die. I'd recamend picking up a copy soon!

Ntburke5 said...

@khaldeman2 I completely agree with you too, because saying that isn’t very nice and id say that Tkeatley comment was too short too.

tmartinez5 said...

(Under Blog #12) I think that tnirwin3 comment was great example of how to make an "A" on this! It mentioned the title and author of the book and the page number! The andswer to the question was well written and gave reasons to answer the question. There was also very little gramatical errors.

(Under Blog #5) I dont think jbaptiste2 comment is a good one. There were noticablle gramatical errors. I was hard for me to understand it and not alot of thought was put into it. He/she didnt use 5 sentances, only 3. This wouldnt make an "A"

lmartinez5 said...

On Blog #14 i think that cmartin didnt really respond correctly to his blog.Because he didnt give good information or supporting details about why his book was realistic and unrealistic. He could of explain the genre better and maybe he could understand if his book was realistic or unrealistic. I think maybe if he explained better on his paragraph he would have gotten an A.

snetherland5 said...

I think that amonari2 on Blog 11 is a good example of how to get an A on a blog. She was very clear with what she didn't understand, why she didnt understand it, and used good choice of vocabulary. She also didn't have too many grammer errors and my guess would be that she recieved an A. i think an example of a not so good blog is Smoushey4 beacause the way it was worded was very confusing to me and even though I may not have read the book it made no sense what so ever. Also the grammer errors made it hard to read.

AHowell5 said...

I think a good example on #16 is Twilliams03 because it is very descriptive on how much fun the class was. i think KBroome04 was very confusing and i didnt understand exaclly what he/her was saying.

MRichards5 said...

@tmartinez5

I definitely agree with your first choice, for the A! I read the comment myself and agreed fully.

jfox5 said...

A good example to writing a blog that would get you an A is gfleck’s blog post in blog #15 is because it had at least 5 sentences, gave evidence that he/she read the book and gave factual support. A good example of a blog that would get you a lower grade is sdeemer2’s blog because the blog was very hard to understand and he/she had a lot of spelling/punctuation mistakes.

aakin5 said...

I think #16 mbooth3 would be a great example for an "A". A reason is because they are very descriptive. Also they had more than the required ammount of sentences. Someone i think would not recieve an "A" is #14 ccastillo2. Because, it has some grammer and capitalization problems.

aperez5 said...

I think an good example of getting “A” in the blog is back on blog #12 is when bwanger2 talks about his book “The Black Duck”. The actors he chose as well as everything he told about the book and tells it by five sentences. This is a good example of what getting it takes to get an “A”. An example of not getting an “A” is Kfundenburg4 comment about the memories that she had over the school year on blog #16. She didn’t explain a lot and only told the memories were “great” she didn’t explain a lot.

MRichards5 said...

@snetherland5

Aswell, I found your choices rather lining up with my own ideas. The first comment deserves an A, in my eyes, also.

asellers5 said...

I think Kfundenburg4 posted an excellent reposnce to last year's post 15. It was on an interesting topic, well organized, thoughfull, and detailed. I think TLand4's post on blog 13 was a perfect example of what not to do. It was repetative and unfactual as he said "The Egyptians worshipped the same gods as Greeks, except they have different names." With a comment like that I'd hate to see his history grade!

jjanke5 said...

I like amonari2's comment on blog 14. She was talking about the lovely bones. I agree with everything she was saying, too. The question on the blog was if you thought the book was realistic or not. And everything that happens to the main character in the book could definatley happen in real life. So, they answered the questions right and all that so I think she would've gotten an A. And she had enough sentences and punctuaiton right... so yeah.

and one I think wasn't that good was jbills3's comment on blog #15. He's my stepbrother so I dont feel bad for saying he sounded dumb. He was like " I like that book kinda " And it sounds like he put like no thought into it, and it was like three short sentences.

astephens5 said...

On Blog 13,I think that jtomlinson4 is a good example of who would of recieved an "a". It seemed to me that he understood his book really well and knew what he was talking about.I also liked how he incorporated his friend and didn't just say"Oh,he would like this book!" but he took actual examples from his book and related them to his friend. i also like how at the end it seemed like he ended his blog with a moral and i thought that was creative.

An example of a comment that probably wouldn't get a good grade would be on Blog #12 by cmartin2. I believe that he didnt really answer the question on why he would want that person to play the main character. Saying that "Sylvester Stallone is my favorite actor" doesn't technically answer WHY he should be the main character. Also i dont think putting"Im on page 127" really counts as a sentence.He/She should of incorporated that with the title and author of the book.

zphillips5 said...

bferguson2 blog #16
i believe this comment is a very good comment that i am sur she got an a on. My reason in thinking so is that she had proper punctuation. She had a very good and proper use of grammer and knew what she was talking about. the last reason thought her comment was smart was because the detail of the comment. I thank her for her for giving me an idea about what to do thank you!

tmartinez5 said...

@Imartinez5
I agree. His/her comment was illogical. How does he know that stuff isnt true? Back it up with facts! Thats why it said to explain!

slaw5 said...

Amonari2's comment on blog 15 was a good example of what to do. They used lots of detail and made it interesting to read, with alot more than five sentences. Gwest4, blog 15, was not a very good example of how to get an A. They did not use enough sentences and did not use correct punctuation.
I am a bit nervous about using the blog because everyone can see what everyone writes.

mmcclendon5 said...

in blog 15 i liked gfleck3's comet. he listed great details, and stayed on topic. aloso i happen to be a big harry potter fan. what i didnt like about the blog was that he told EVERYTHING. if i never read this book before i would have wanted to read the book by my self

cgreek5 said...

I think bferguson2 does deserve an “A” because he/she has a long descriptive blog post. This post is longer than most of the other posts on the blogger. Bferguson2 is a great example of an “A” student. Being the third person in the blog he/she is the best example in my opinion.
(blog #3)

I think that on blog #15,Kfundenburg4 is an example of an A. it is very descriptive and uses strong vocabulary. And it also had more than 5 sentences. EKeck04 is an exapmle of not an A. It is not very descriptive and thier vocabulary is not very strong. But it does have more than 5 sentences. I think that the blog is alright, its not great. But it is an easy way to get a good grade.

anichols2,
I really liked that you talked about how they expressed their opinions and used good detail to describe it.

@AHowell5

I agree with you a 100%! Twilliams blog was fantastic! When I read the blog post I was amazed.

asellers5 said...

@jfox5:
I don't completely agree with you three. Because dispite meeting all the criteria, his responce was rather dull and under detailed.

jdennis5 said...

The person who answered the worst was jbiil3. That person was off topic. They where not focused at all on the question. it wasnt even nothing about school. So thats why I picked jbill3's comment as the worst. In blog 14 the person who answerd the best was amonari2. He or she list good details and stayed focused. Some of the other ones where not eeven about the question. Some didnt answer all of the questions. So thats why I picked amonari2.

astephens5 said...

jfox5... i agree with you and I think that you answered the question very well.

lmartinez5 said...

I think aouellette3 Blog #12responded correctly to the question given. Because they explained the characters they liked the least and put it in complete details.I think that it deserved an A :)

aakin5 said...

@AHowell5

You need at least five sentences.

@aneal2
Yeah its very easy its almost impossible to get an F

scottr5 said...

I think kfundenburg4 was a good example of a great blog because he answered the question and added details. There a are no mistakes and it’s interesting to read not including that it’s entirely funny I just think personally that is a magnificent blog.

I think lmehan4 not such of a great example because he or she does no draw you in to what he or she is saying. Therefore it draws you into a none exciting response. Personally I think he or she should have add more details the maybe it would have draw me into what they where saying.

snetherland5 said...

jjanke5,
i liked how you described how jbills didn't sound very smart by saying i kinda liked that book. Also you talked about how everything in amonari's book is possible which is completely true.

jjanke5 said...

@snetherlands I liked youre comment, you sounded smart....good work.

I think amonari2 in blog #14 was a good example because the blog is very well explained. It’s written very clearly so you can understand it well. But jbills3’s blog is not a good example because it isn’t really written clearly, and you don’t really know what the book is about. I am very excited to use the blog because I like using technology and it’s something different.

aakin5 said...

@kwilliams2

You need to give the username of the person you chose and five sentences.

Jfox5 said...

@Astephens5

I read your comment about how cmartin didn’t follow the question. I myself went and read it and its true they didn’t follow it at ALL, when they said “my is about navy seals….” And then “I would choose…..because he is my favorite actor!” I was like oh umm that doesn’t seem right.

spena6 said...

npegg2 I think that you are correct about the examples of a bad and good blog. Cmartin never gave good examples of why his book was or wasn't realistic. His comments were also bad.

jdewitt6 said...

I think Bwalton2's response was deifntily an "A" comment. It was a fairly long response and it was a good example of a favorite memory in reading. She included names and what happeend very well. She even made me laugh a little from her memory. Then she said she didn't have a least favorite memory because reading was great this year, which makes me excited for this year:)!

lwooley5 I agree with what you said about the blog being new and exciting for the technology. I am excited about that too.

I think that in blog #15
kfundnburg4 had a great sum to her book. I think a lot of the comments she makes are full of great description. In her answer she descibes the book which she gave me the perfect idea of an 'A' because she replys to peoples comments and answers the question perfectly. I am excited to start used the blog it seems like a fun way of learning. I am not nervous at all!

wlawrence6 said...

a good example of a good response was when on blog #15 when kfundenburg said that out of all the books she had read that year, "10 things i do before i do" was her favorate but a bad one was from blog #15 when tland said "goodbook:)" kfundenburg's was good because she added detail and explained everything well. tland's wasn't so good because it was a very short response.

chunt6 said...

a bad example of how to do the blog would be from blog 15 when TLand4 just said intresting. this is bad because it was just one word, not the required 5 scentences. if they were responding to someone they shure didn't say it. what they were talking to remains to be seen, but it was too short. what compelled them to do it is also unclear.

ebayer6 said...

A great example was choner2’s on blog # 1. it was good because he/she put full sentences and descriptive answers. I really liked how he/she put a full answer and not just a few small sentences. A few sentences might be enough, and it might meet the requirements, but I just don’t think that that is how you are supposed to use this blog. If you use it as if you were doing a reading log for someone like a strict reading teacher, then maybe you could get a great grade that you will be proud of forever!! Lol!

A post that didn’t look so great was the one by lmehan4 that he/she posted on blog 3. I don’t think that it was so good because it was only 4 sentences and they weren’t very interesting. They just said things like, it was a good book, or I really liked it, or it relates to me, but they never said how it relates to them. I am not planning to do any posts like that this school year.

kwilby6 said...

I think that a good example of a blog was on blog #16 by mbooth3. She used a lot of detail and explained the events with great detail. She says, "My favorite part of this whole year is this unit now because we get to express our feelings and act like different people." I thought that was good. One that I thought wasn;t a good example was on blog #16 by drmcneil3. He didn't give that much detail or enthusiasm when he was explaining. It was boring to read. an example of what he put was, "my favorite part of reading class this year was listening to john-Gary read shake-spears." Its not very entertaining or detailed. I am excited to use this blog because I feel it is going to be easier than writing everything out and turning it in.

kflanagan6 said...

llindsey3 (blog #16 )made a good post that definitely deserved an “A+” because it was very long and included a lot of good details. I like how she include her personal experiences and how she felt about them. She made me feel like I was actually a part of that eighth grade year, and now I know just about everything that were going to do. I also like how the person included there favorite parts of the year, and there favorite unit. I can’t wait to start this blog , it seems so much better than a reading log!!!!!:)

cwilliams6 said...

On blog #16 i think Twilliams responded to the topic very well. She used correct punctuation and stayed on the subject. She used more than five sentences and described what was her favorite part of the year in Mrs. Thomas's reading class.

kwilby6 said...

SBouge2- Good Job on explaining why they were good and why they werent!!!!

BFerguson- I like how you put quotes from their blog and incoorperated it into yours!!

Chunt, if it is one word, it is most likely a comment on someone else's post. that's what I think at least. i could be wrong.

I think this represents a good blog because it answers all the required questions asked and also because the person seems to really enjoy the book that their reading and I think that that is important. If a person doesn’t enjoy their book they will not give good details even if it is a good book. A way to answer a blog incorrectly is to just say “my book is good and it is about fairies” that is not good because it give you no detail about the actual book. Its important to give good details so that even if you don’t like it someone in your class or another can tell if they might enjoy it, but if you give bad details no one will look at it and you will get a bad grade. And yes I am happy about a blog instead of a log we have done logs for as long as I can remember and I never liked them because I forget to do them but because I am on the computer for at least an hour everyday it will be easy for me to do this and also it seems fun  I got this from CMazza3 in blog 14.

A good example of a well written and detailed blog post is Droller4’s post on blog number twelve. The blog was about who would play the two main characters in your book if it was made into a movie and they gave a detailed answer with reasons to back up why he would chose who he chose. To make an “A” on our blogs, we should be detailed, make sure it has five sentences; which should be easy if you include detail, and make sure you answer the questions correctly. Also, you should include the name of your book, the author, what page you’re on, correct grammar, and punctuation. An example of what you should not do is a post by jcsandercook2; they answer the question but don’t have correct punctuation and don’t pick actors to play their main characters. Their post isn’t detailed and doesn’t really answer the question. Last year, I was in R.E.A.C.H. and we had a blog in Mrs. Cheshire’s reading class; therefore I’m not nervous about using the blog. But, I am excited to be using a blog again; it’s a more fun way of answering questions about what we read.

spena6 said...

I think that amonari2 on blog #14 is a great example on how to do a good blog. They put great examples on how the book they were reading was realistic and also how it was fake. They went in depth and decribed there book. Where on the other hand cmartin on blog 14 said how his book was realistic in one sentence where you usually would have to do more. In the rules it says that you have to write at least 5 sentences and in his there were only 3. He also didn't leave good comments on other peoples blog. He wrote how it was a movie. He couldn't write anymore about how it was a good or bad movie. I am really excited to work with the blog because of using new types of ways to do work and to have fun doing our reading assignments. I look forward to do these blogs.

sconey6 said...

I think the blog is a great way to find out what everyone else think, u can post comments on what they think getting a good grade in this class is always good and u should get a bad grade for just not taking a little time to right a little.
A blog is just getting some people together it’s like Facebook but more School Board of Alachua County type. Does not let kids do stuff like that so this is a better way to bring it together talking about what we did in class.
In class we may do project, work or even games but no matter what we are doing it’s always a grade. Times are changing and people are getting smarter that why Mrs. A Thomas created a safety plane thing it keeps from other things from getting into her page. And safety is needed in this point because there are kids/students  I got this from: aneal2

plorenzen6 said...

i think tland4's comment on blog 13 would get an A. It is at least 5 sentences long and very detailed. amonari4's comment would not get an A because it is only one sentence long and his spelling is not very good. he could improve this by using microsoft word.

KBroome04 from blog 15. I think it is a good example. They have a good discription. They dont talk about something that isnt off topic. They summarizes with only a little bit of writing but it works. I can understand what the book is about with only thows words. This person would get an "A" because it was great.
JBills3 from blog 15. I think is a bad discription because they tell me nothing about what they read. They have very little writing. That is not good becvause they should have 5 sentences full sentences not three words in each sentance. it was just not good they would not get an "A" because it was terable.

jdewitt6 said...

Sbogue2: You're resonse is super good and I like how you went back a while intot he blogs.

snadon6 said...

A well deserved “A” post would be bwagner2 on Blog #12 because he/she did a great job on explaining why he/she wanted those actors for their novel. The answer was also very detailed and made the book sound interesting and made you think about the outcome. Yet a not as perfect post would be rstraub2 on Blog #9 because this person had spelling errors. Also the words were mixed up so you couldn’t even understand what they were trying to explain to you. Which would have been great to know what tips they were trying to tell you about FCAT! I am also very excited about the blog it seems much easier to keep track of this than a reading log!

anichols2, I agree that the blog is a good way to make sure people are reading their books, and to check out what your friends think about books you're thinking about reading, too. I also agree that in order to get a good grade you have to explain why you said what you said, and if you don't then you probably won't get a good grade on the blog.

chunt6 said...

this blog is a good way to comunicate. the only thing that would make it better is if we could costomize our user names

I picked Blog #5(Monday, September 27, 2010). I thought a good response was from Jdean4 who explained thoroughly why the character was an antagonist or a protagonist. On the other hand, Gcosta3 (I thought), didn’t explain why the characters were what they were. I am VERY excited about using the blog because it’s like going on Face book for homework! Also, I’m nervous about it, because I’m afraid I won’t be able to get on a computer before sixth period!

dhileman6 said...

Blog # 15- ebower4 wrote a good blog, I think it would earn an A. They gave a lot of detail about the book and it made me want to read it. They included the author's name and genre.
Esmith2 wrote a blog that showed they can not spell, did not give a good idea of what the book was about.
I like the idea of a blog but I am a little nervous because I don't like the idea of other people reading what I type.

ekim2, I agree that you need correct puntuation, and that jcsandercook2 needed to add what actors they wanted their main characters played by.

dbenjamin6 said...

The blog is #12 and the username is jcsandercook2, this was a bad example because it had a lot of errors such as capitalization and grammar. The response was also a bad example because it didn’t have 5 sentences. A good blog was by tnirwin3 because they had the perfect amount of sentences and they didn’t have any errors. I also chose this one because I thought it answered the question very well, and this is a good way to deserve an A.
I am very excited about using the blog because I like being on the computer and this is a way to make homework more fun for everyone. Also it’s kind of like Facebook when you get to comment on other people’s comments, and I love Facebook!!!!!!!!!

jdiehl6 said...

I think also that in blog #1
esmith2 describes what genre he likes and the reasons why. He said mystery, because he likes to read and be on the edge of his seat when reading a book. he also likes mystery in general like CSI and mystery books so it all falls into place. I think that a example of a bad answer is, Elisabeth Bayer on blog #16 she posted "Well, i just got into this class but i liked the 2 by 4". Number 1.she did not use correct capitilization. 2. She did not have a ebayer6 its connected to her google acount. 3. She commented on a blog from last year instead of the one from this year. I really think that is a bad example.

mwilliams6 said...

A bad example is Jcsandercook2 blog #12 because they didn’t have five sentences in there summary. They also only have one sentence that describes the book. All in all they have three sentences and didn’t check there punctuation. A good example is tanzina2 blog # 12 because they were very descriptive. They also have supportive details that help you to understand the part of the book they are talking about.

plorenzen6 said...

I am very excited to use the blog because its not like a regular piece of homework. It also allows us to interact with other students. We get to express our feelings about the book we are currently reading. It also gives us ideas for new books to read.

dmedyk6 said...

On blog number 13 I think kmedero2 was a great example to score an A, because she was very descriptive when describing her book. I think she responded to the blog perfectly. She followed all the requirements while writing a good amount about her book. I think on blog number 12 by Anonymous was a bad example to score an A, because their sentances were incomplete. They did not follow the instructions given. They made up fake facts about a book, and they didn't list themself as the right name.Im exicited to use the blog because,I get see what people think about my book, and to learn about people's books they are currently reading.

ycho6 said...

I think On blog#15,TLand4s' comment is a good example. Because there was a plenty of reasons that why he/she likes that book. And commented with in complete sentences.

On blog#14,kmedero2
I think this comment is not a good example. Because he/hshe wrote really simple. And I think there's no plenty of reason.

Mwang6 said...

I think ekeck04 blog #7 is an example of a good blog because they explain what the theme is of their book and gave an example and details about why their theme was to “love their siblings and live like your dying.”

jhouston6 said...

Mogorro2 on blog #12 had a very good example of what a comment should look like. It met all the requirements for the blog, plus added excess information that gave you more knowledge of the book they were reading. RJames4 on blog #12 was an example of a bad post because it was obvious that they only watched the movie. They chose the exact same actors that were in the movie. I am excited about using the blog because it gives another option of how to express what you read.

Sjun2 said...

Astine2, I like your detailed comment on weather your excited about the blog or not, and I agree with you about Twilliams being a good example on how to get an A.

K fundenbuergers blog is a example of a bad blog because even if he is just making a point he can still put more in to it instead of just saying a few words gfleck3 is an example of a good blog he tells about his book and more he does a whole paragraph he gives tons of details and he explains every thing.
