Blog #7 Due: Monday 3/11/13

Post the title of the book you're reading, its author, and the current page you are on.

Almost all fiction authors have to do some kind of research before they write their novels. For example, JK Rowling might have researched historical sites in London and different creatures from mythology. Suzanne Collins, author of The Hunger Games series, might have researched different types of weapons or survival skills. The author of Twilight researched Native-American traditional stories.

Tell me something that you think your author researched before he or she wrote your novel. Explain why you choose this (how it relates to your novel). Your response must be at least 5 sentences.

I am currently reading TEBOW TIME by Jesse Hines. I am on page 128 the start of a new chapter. I think Jesse Hines had to research Tim Tebows football career, life, and quotes. I think this because the book is all about Tebows football quotes and life quotes. The research he did was very interesting and he made a great book.

I just finished the book Lost in a River of Grass written by Ginny Rorby. I think Ginny had to research about the Everglades. She also had to research animals and their habitat in the Everglades. I think she researched this because she vividly describes the Everglades and its animals. The details from the research made the book very interesting.

I am almost done with my book the lord of the rings. By J.J.R Tolkien i am on page 372. My author would of researched very fairy tale things such as wizards, goblins, elves, and many other creatures. Also he would have researched certain weapons that characters and other people wield. He wouldn't have researched much because the story is based off his real life.

I have just finish reading Divergent by Veronica Roth. I think she researched other distopia books made. She twisted The Hunger Games into a hardcore book. So that's probably why it's style is similar. I give this book a 10.

the book i am reading is Chomp, i just finished the book today and the author is Carl Hiaasen. I think that the author searched up a lot of stuff about the everglades and how snakes and aligators move. He also searched up a lot about how to set up a movie shoot.

I am currently read Saving ZASHA. I am on page 61. It’s about WWII so the author would have had to research about that. It’s also about a dog so maybe he researched about dog behavior. Also he would have had to research what each side used the dogs for.

I am currently reading Escaping the Giant Wave by: Peg Kehret and I’m on page 53. Peg Kerhert probably researched old hotels to describe the hotel that Kyle and Bee-Bee are staying in. She also probably researched cruise and tsunamis accidents because this occurs in the book. She probably researched about Oregon because this is where the story takes place. If you want a quick easy book to read try this one.

I am currently reading In a Heartbeat by Loretta Ellsworth. I am on page 29. This book tells 2 stories of a girl named Eagan and Amelia. I believe the author had to research about ice skating because she used a lot of skating terms in the story. I also thing the author had to research about heart diseases and the effects of heart failures because she is very specific about how Amelia feels with this heart problem.

My book is Runaway Twin, the author is Peg Kehret, and I'm on page 53. The author probably had to research stuff about foster homes and healthy foods. She probably researched child services stuff because the main character is always in and out of foster homes and talks alot about that system. And she proabably researched stuff about health foods because the current foster home she's in is conatantly critisizing junk food by going indepth about the ingredients. They also ate tons of weird organic stuff.

My book is Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I am on page 324. I think the author of my book had to research. How people act when they have limited resources and how people react to severe change. I also think that she had to think about how the weather affects certain areas. She probably focused on how people would try to figure out how to use weapons they never touched before and how to work together.

I am reading Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by: Ransom Riggs, on page 213. I think the author researched islands because the main character Jacob goes to one to find out more about his recently dead grandfather. The author would have to have researched a little about islands because he describes it so well detail and specific things that would be kind of difficult to make up by yourself. Also I think the author researched about mythical creatures because there are many creatures. They can change forms, disappear, float, and more.

I had just finished City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. I think one thing that Cassandra researched was some of the acient mythology used in the book. The reason for this is that there is a lot of lore involved with this book. The next book may even involve more than this one.

I just finished reading My Fair Godmother by Janette Rallison. One thing she researched was probably fairy tales and why kids had to get fairytales. One reason why I chose this is because sat the beggining of the story she had to choose between two girls on which one needed a fairy godmother. Another reason would be because she had to know the rules on being a fairy godmother so she probably read a lot of fairy tales. Lastly, she had to tell her certain things she couldn't do.

I think my author researched different behavior skills when left alone. Or, different survival skills when you don't have much food. I think she should have research this because in The Seam (District 12) they don't have much food. Also while in the Hunger Games, you are left alone with nothing except what you have in your pack.

I am currently reading Inkspell by Cornelia Funke and I am on page 450. Some things I think my author had to research was, how to survive in the woods and how to juggle with fire safely. I think this because for half of the book it talks about the characters having to stay in the woods and survive. I think she had to research how to juggle fire safely because people in the book do play with fire. If she wanted to make that seem real, she would have to research how to juggle or play with fire safely so the characters can do stuff so they don’t get hurt.
