We have been focusing on poetry and trying to figure out what the author is trying to say through his or her writing. Tell us what you think the Theme of your book is. Remember: Theme is the point the author is trying to get across to the reader.

Remember to include your books title, author, and current page number you are on. Your response must include what you think the Theme of your book is and an example from the book that clues you in to that theme. Your response must be 5-7 sentences.

For this week's blog, let's see things from your main character's perspective.
Write a journal entry as if it were your main characters.  Make sure that this entry shows us the character's personality as well as any major conflict.  It should be 5-7 sentences long.  Also, include the title and author of the book and the page you are currently on.

We will be analyzing/reading poetry for our new unit. For this blog, think of a song that you really like. Post the lyrics to the song along with the song title and artist.
Then write one paragraph where you tell us:

-Why you like the song

Last week we focused on Comparing and Contrasting different text.  I want you to use the book you are currently reading and the last book you read to find 2 comparisons and 2 contrasts(differences).  List the title, author, and current page number of the book you are currently reading.  Also, list the book that you are using to compare and contrast your current book with.  Remember your response must be at least 5 sentences and you must comment twice to get full credit.

Refer to the "The Filipino and the Drunkard" to answer the following questions.

*Do you think it is acceptable to defend yourself even when you know there will be consequences? Provide reasons for your response.
*Is it in our nature to experience emotions-one thing which has been said to separate us from animals. Do you think that we must, as humans, control our emotions? Are there reasons why we should or shouldn't control our emotions? Explain and give reasons for your response.

Make sure your response answers both questions and is at least 5 sentences! These are controversial questions which should generate discussion-if you don't respond to someone then your not really making your voice HEARD. Respond at least twice!

Think about the last book you read. Looking back can you think of any examples of Foreshadowing that occurred? If you need help with what foreshadowing is look back in your notebook. For this weeks blog I want you to describe the overall Tone of the book you are currently reading. What motive do you think the author had in mind when he wrote your book? Was he wanting it to have a creepy tone, a happy tone, sad tone, and so on. Describe the Tone of your book by giving an example. This week we are focusing on Text Structure. Think about the book you are currently reading, what kind of text structure does the author use the most. Your book might use more than one text structure. Be sure to give an example from your book that supports the text structure you think is present. Visualize one scene from your book and describe it to us. Tell the page numbers of the particular scene and of course, the title and author of your book. Then, give us a mental picture of the scene or situation.
