I'm currently reading the book Kissed By An Angel by Elizabeth Chandler and I'm on page 20. I think the most important word in this book would be "Angel" because little does Ivy know that she's about to find her guardian angel. Her friends constantly make fun of her because she is still looking but she knows she is close. "Three miles above Earth. Angel zone." Her "Angel zone" is when she's not paying attention and thinking of Tristan or something.

ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Percy Jackson and the Titans Curse written by Rick Riordan and I am on page 284. The most important word I have read in chapter 19 is Olympus. The word Olympus comes up on page 282 in the sentence, “we circled over midtown Manhattan, making one complete orbit around Mount Olympus.” It comes up again on the same page in the sentence, “this time, if possible Olympus amazed me even more.” I chose the word Olympus because nothing major happens in the book without the people at Olympus knowing about it. Olympus is also the place that they have been trying to get to for the last 100 pages or so. Olympus is the place where all of the major gods live and have meetings at. Percy and his gang of friends had just arrived there and needed to talk to Zeus and the other gods before the winter solstice which is happening in less than 1 hour. So that is why I chose the word Olympus as the most important word I have read this week.

ReplyDeleteI am reading The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer and I am on page 221. I think the most important word in this story is the word fame. In the Sea Of Trolls the Beserkers sing a song with always at the end that fame never dies. "For the first time he understood what drove these violent men. Their lives were short, but every moment burned with intensity." They sing song everyday that fame never dies and knowing that their fame will never die brings them courage that they will have a great life.

(page 75) This word is important because the main setting of this book is the Labyrinth that they must go in. This is why i chose this word and why it is so important to the story.

The sentence this word appears in is “It happened in a wooded section of campus known as the Pit during a joint obstacle course exercise with the knights of Thrushbeard Company.” I chose this word because Evie, the main character has to face a large obstacle in the book. The main obstacle she has to face is that she feels as if she’s an outcast in the academy and has to find out who she really is since she lost her memory.

ReplyDeleteI am reading the book Eight Keys by Suzanne LaFleur and I'm on page 216. The most important word in my book is probably growth. On page 215 of my book, the author says, "Maybe this change and growth is a good thing, but it still feels really different." I think that the word growth is the most important word that I have read, because the main character, Elise, has different and better viewpoints on things compared to the beginning of the book. Elise has also learned a lot more about herself and has a greater appreciation for things.

ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Neptune Project by Polly Holyoke and I'm on page 274. I think the most important word in this book it "alive". When Kyel dies and Nere becomes the new leader, she said "My goal for now is to keep everyone alive until nightfall."(from page 244) I chose this word because throughout the book, being alive is the most important thing they need to be down in the sea. Everything is problem for them and they need to go through the problem. Being alive is the most important to Nere to make a new world down in the ocean for her mother who made her a science experiment.

ReplyDeleteI'm currently on page 34 of Janet Lee Carey's book, "Wenny has wings". The word that I think is the most important is "Accident". On page 15, a quote says "I've been thinking about the accident". The book is written as if the main character, Will, is writing letters to his deceased sister, Wenny, after the car accident that they were both involved in. He doesn't like to think of Wenny as dead. He prefers to the incident as an 'accident' as if Wenny is still alive so he can have a reason to write to Wenny. That's why I chose the word 'accident'. This story is very tragic and has a deep meaning.

I am currently reading Promises to Keep by Paul Langan and I'm in page 20. One even from he story that I would have handled different is when Tyray startd hanging with the wrong crowd. He gets caught up in drama and now he is clinging to a lifeline. Tyray faces one of his decision because he decide to hang with the wrong crowd. I would have handled this situation by choosing who I hang with wisely.

The most important word was home, in this sentence Zach’s dad died in another country and he just walked into his home to find everyone in sorrow. The sentence is “Right there and then, Zach know his dad wasn’t coming home tonight”, this word is important because this is where Zach grows up and since his dad is gone it changes his life, this sentence is found on page 18.

ReplyDeleteI am currently reading Omen of The Stars Warriors Sign of the Moon by Erin Hunter and I am on page 293. The word that would be most important in this book would be "understand". For example: "Jayfeather wrenched his gaze from Half Moon and stared at Cloud. 'I don't understand...'" (p.293). This word shows the whole purpose of this book that connects to the series. In this book Jayfeather is trying to understand about the prophecy he was given. The prophecy was given to many ancestors for many years, and only Jayfeather is the closest one to solving it.

ReplyDeleteThe book that I am currently reading is The Worst Class Trip Ever by Dave Barry and I am currently on page 112. I think that the most important word used in what I have read this week is missile, and it appears on page 23. The sentence where I found this word is "And you laughed when I said they had a missile". I think this word is important to the story because one of the main characters (Matt) thinks there is a missile in the bag of the weird guy who sits behind him and his friends on the airplane. If they didn't think there was a missile in the bag then everything would have gone as planned and he wouldn't have gotten in trouble with their teacher during the trip.

It was shown on page 57 when it stated "He wasn't frightened and he wasn't discouraged.". I use the word frightened because the kids were doing things they believed in which made them not a scared as they should've been. Anyway I'm really enjoying this book so far.

ReplyDeleteI am currently reading “You Have a Brian” by Ben Carson. I am on page 55. Of what I read this week I think the most important word is “temper.” The part I am reading is about how he gets mad a lot at a lot of different stuff. For instance on page 49 he asked his mom for a new pair of pants and she bought him some and showed him them and he looked at them and said, “I will NOT wear those! They’re the wrong kind!” His mom tried to explain but he stormed up to his room and didn’t wear the pants. Another time he got mad was on page 52 when him and his friend were hanging out and his friend bob they were listening to music and bob changed the radio station and he yelled HEY and changed it backed then bob glared at him and changed it again. “Without a single thought going through my mind, I pulled out a camping knife out of my pocket, snapped the blade open and lunged right at bobs midsection.” Luckily it hit his belt buckle and broke but he realized he could have killed him. Then he ran and hid in his bathroom and ask god to control his temper. He never had a problem again.

I am reading the book wild wood by Colin Meloy and i am on page 123. Based on the reading that i have done this week I think the most important word that I have read is the word "missing". The reason i chose this word is because the whole plot of the story is that her brother is missing and she has to go in this forest to find him. Not only that but while she is in there her friend also goes missing. The entire conflict of the story is based upon the word "missing" so that is why i chose it.

ReplyDeleteThe most important word I have read is "ghostly" because it explains what the creepy twin-like girl was. It's on page 2 and the sentence says, "The ghostly stranger might be her identical twin or fainter version of Mat, who can't look away or cry out or move." The word "ghostly" explains that she is dead and that she isn't normal. Since the ghost came to visit her in her sleep, it shows the creepy tone of the book.
I am reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and I am on page 86.In my opinion the most imortant word in the book is volunteer.In the book Katniss says on page 22 I volunteer as tribute.I chose this word because Katniss was volunteering for her sister, so she wouldnt have to play in the Hunger Games.This event was so important because it starts off the book.

I am reading Promises to Keep by Paul Langan and I am on page 80. I feel the most important word is hate, “I hate you, Dad!” Tyray cried, tears of rage and hurt in his eyes. “I hate you!” on page 73. I chose the would hate because in this section of the book Tyray and his dad got into an argument and his dad ends up hitting him in his face twice. Also in this section Tyray finds out his dad got in an argument with Warren (his older brother that’s in jail) and now he doesn’t want them to visit anymore. Lastly in this section Lark’s friends Amberlynn and Jamee tell Tyray to stay away from Lark. So I think in this part of the book there’s a lot of hate and argue going on.

I am currently reading Infinity Ring Book 5 by Rick Riordan and am on page 137. The most important word in my book would probably be Time Travel. It indicates to the other people in the book that they are time travelers. They also tell other people they are time travelers when they are in jeopardy. It also helps in other grave situations.

The book I’m currently reading is called Wonder by R.J Palacio ad I’m on page 50. The most important word that I found in my reading so far is the word ‘pretending’. I found the word pretending on page 37 and the sentence is, “I did my thing of pretending not to notice.” This word is important in this book because that’s all August does is pretend. Pretending that he doesn’t notice the people starring. Pretending that he doesn’t hear the whispers. Pretending that he doesn’t know why people stand or sit so far away from him. All August does throughout the book is pretend. That is why I chose the word pretend.

This word is important because Richard's cousin Malley ran away and when she tried to come her kidnapper wouldn't let her. Also, when Malley yelled for her kidnapper to stop on the phone, Richard kept asking himself is Malley dead. All he wanted was for her to be safe, and he didn't want the fake Talbo Chock to hurt her.

Family is the most important word because both of the main characters care deeply about their families. Day comes and visits every now and then to make sure that the diease doesn't get to his family. The book that I am reading is The Last Apprentice: Night of the Soul Stealer by Joseph Delaney and the page I am on is page 134. the most important word in the book is spook which is on page 125. A spook is someone who gets rid of magical creatures like witches and boggarts. They are said to know magic and are feared by many townespeople. The Spook is paid to get rid of magical creatures in or on people's property.

The book that I am currently reading is The Eighth Day by Dianne Salerni. I am on page 35. The most important word that I have read in a sentence this week is "guardian." It is on page 11. The sentence that it is used in is "Riley Pendare, Jax's sort of clueless eighteen year old guardian." It is important because it shows that Jax is not with his parents or family, he is with someone who takes care of him. This book has been really good so far.

ReplyDeleteI am reading "The 5th Wave" By Rick Yancey. I am on page 407. I believe the most important word is "Other". It is used in so many different sentences, and to list them all would take too much time, so I'll just use the first sentence that it is used: "The Other's aren't stupid." (pg. 1). This is important because the whole book is centered around an Alien Invasion of "Other's" as in other than human. The word Other is used by the main character Cassie many times as she refers to them, curses them, and describes them.

I am currently reading Game World by C.J. Farley and on page 89. The most important word about what I have read is "portal". “He took a step into the portal, Eli and Ines by his side” (62). I believe this is the most important word because it is when the conflict starts to appear. The main character, Dylan, has to go into a portal with some of his friends to find his sister who was sucked into the portal.

In this book, psychopomp is one of the many names for people who lead the dead. They're viewed as guardians of some sort, for ghosts and spirits. The main character, Lizzie, is a psychopomp. After the terrorist attack, Lizzie crossed over into one of the afterworlds. She brought herself back, but she couldn't forget. Now, she can see ghosts and is supposed to help protect and lead them to the safe afterworld that I think is called the "Flip Slide." Also, Lizzie's love interest, Yamaraj, is also a psychopomp. I think he's going to teach her the ways of her new lifestyle.

" The kids are always shopping like they have an obsession with it and their favorite designers are Michael Kors,Polo Ralph Lauren, and Tommy Hilfiger and because they can afford it really good name brand they think they're better than everyone.They pretty much rule Octavian Day High School and they dont like anybody.

It basicly represents the whole book because everything is a secret. The main characters do not find any info on anything there looking for until they find there uncle.

ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading "The Cannibals" by Iain Lawrence. I'm on page 53. The most important word in chapter 4 is "King". I've chosen this word because this is how one of the characters describes himself. "I'm King Mullock... I will rule the people on this island"- page 50. I chose this word because it is the start of conflict of the story. It will divide the survivors.

The book I am currently reading is called Beholding Bee by Kimberly Newton Fusco and I am on page 7. The most important word I have read was "birthmark." She has a birthmark on her body and everyone always makes fun of her. "Don't get near that birthmark now boy. You might get infected." They always are being mean to her and don't treat her nice.

ReplyDeleteThe book I am currently reading is called Miss Peregrine's home for peculiar children by Ransom Riggs, I am on page 26. The most important word I have read was "cooperation." The main character gets jumped and bullied at school. So him and his friend Ricky made a deal that he would help Ricky pass and Ricky would protect him. "The cooperation part was an unofficial brains-for-brawn trade agreement we'd worked out in which I helped him pass English and he helped me not get killed by the roided-out sociopaths who Prowled the hals of our school." (page 25) So this is important because without it he would get jumped and bullied in the hallways again.

Garret cackled and plunged a spoon into a lump of clammy apple crisp." This word is important cause it is anew word to me that I have never neared before. I also now know that it means a squashing or a cluck sound.

The book I am reading is Percy Jackson: The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan. I am on Page 20. The word i chose is "Demi-God". The Sentence it is in "These Demi-gods will also need a ride to camp halfblood in long island". I chose Demi-God because i never knew what it actually ment demi-god means the offspring of a god and a mortal.
ReplyDeleteThe name of the book I am reading is Flush by Carl Hiaasen and right now I am on page 260. I think the most important word in there is Pollution for a good reason. It is the main conflict in the story about how Dusty Muleman is sending sewage from his boat, The Coral Queen, into the waters of the Keys. It is the reason why Paine Underwood, father of the main protagonist Noah, sunk the boat and got sent to jail. And it is finally the backbone of all of the events in the story. Pollution is what this story is all about.

ReplyDeleteOn page 75 the word "kill" really had a big impact in these two scentences "After you take their blood, I need you to kill them" "Why on earth would you want me to kill your children?" That word had a huge impact because of how sudden and strange that somebody wanted to have somebody kill their children. (The blood was needed because the species it came from had very strong healing properties.)
I am currently reading The Maze Runner by James Dasher and i am on page 40. I think the most important word so far is curious on page 27. Because Thomas is always wondering whats inside the maze asking questions thinking of where he came from. and also i saw the movie and i saw his expression in it and he was always curious he ran into the maze thinking of ideas of how they would get out. That is why i think that that is the most important word so far.

The most two important word is Fantasy league on page 127. on page 127 it says, "I've been trying to figure out this fantasy league thing and it's been killing me." This is important because it is the title of this book. Another reason is because this book is based on fantasy league and it's the main idea of this story.

ReplyDeleteI am reading The Eighth Day by Dianne K. Saleni and I’m currently on page 36. The most important word I read was ‘last’. The sentence was “his final thought, as he drifted into a troubled sleep, was that he didn’t want to be the last human on earth” and that is on pg. 20. I picked that word because Jax thought he was the last person on earth and he was thinking of different scenarios of what is happening. He was going to fend for himself and live alone.

ReplyDeleteThe book I am reading is “Tiger Eyes” by Judy Blume I am currently on page 193. One word I would use in this book to describe it, would be “dying”. On page 172, Tiger was writing a letter to Wolf, in her letter she said “Sometimes I think about dying and it scares me, because it’s so permanent.” I chose this word because in the book because both her and Wolfs’ father dies. (Not at the same time) The book begins with Tigers father being shot and killed, and then it about the pain she feels. Almost like him dying, caused a part of her to die, but later she meets Wolf, which he gives her reasons to smile, something she never thought she could do again. Later she got a job as a candy striper, where she meet Wolfs’ father, she got to know his father, and finally he died, which reminded Tiger of her fathers death.

The book I'm reading is Flawless by Sarah Shepherd and I am on page 81. The most important word that I've read so far would be the word perfection. This is the most important word because everything they have to do there has to be perfect or else they're failing. Here's and example "Everything here is perfect because everyone has to strive to achieve perfection."

The sentence it appears in is the following: "They were sitting at an outside table overlooking a marina that was filled with yachts and sailboats." I think this is the most important word in the book which is south Florida, a place with lots of waterways and swamps. This word is on page 127.

I finish." This was on page 307. This is important because it is when Jaycee finds out that Skyler, her boyfriend, is the one that killed her best friend, Rachel. She thought that it was Skyler's brother, Cole but she realised then that she had been wrong.

the book I am reading is backlash by Sarah Littman and I am currently on page 97. the most important word I would probably have to say would be "hope" because that is what is holding the whole family together. without hope, Lara would probably be dead, Sydney would probably loose her mind, and her parents would freak out. this means that her family must have hope in order to move on. I’m on page 51 of my book No Time to Die by Elizabeth Chandler. The most important word is “murderer” because they’re trying to figure out who killed her sister. “The pattern of the serial murderer had been established, and his victims appeared to be random.” (pg. 45) Megan is trying to find her sister’s murderer and that’s all she’s focused on. She won’t stop until she finds him.

I think this because the Girl Emma in my book is going through a lot in her life right now, including with her family and her heart. Emma is always using the word faith. "In this situation Brooke all I have right now is faith and hope." Pg. 37 I chose this word because it seems like it Emma's favorite word. Also the word "Faith" goes with the story and the book about Emma.

I’m currently reading the book Wonder by R.J Palacio ad I’m on page 61. The important word I found is ordinary. This word is on page 3 in the sentence "I think the only person in the world who realized how ordinary I am is me." This word is important because August is ordinary but everyone else sees him as different just because of how he looks. He likes to eat ice cream, ride bikes and play ball just like ordinary kids. His face is the only thing that keeps him from being seen as ordinary.

ReplyDeleteI’m reading Ruins by Orson Scott Card and I’m on page 530. The word I think is most important in the story is paths. “Rigg looked at the paths, his own and Ram Odin’s, to make sure he was positioned in the right place before he went back in time to fix this thing.” pg. 525. I chose the word paths because it’s a power of Rigg’s to see people’s paths through life and go back to them. This becomes an important part of his group’s travels. It allows them to go back in time accurately and see what has happened and learn from it.

I am currently reading the book “We Were Liars” by E. Lockhart. Based on what I have read this past week, I think the most important word would be “label” because it helps to reveal the main character, Cadence’s, personality and foreshadows the relationship between her and her young love, Gat. In the book it states, “But we were only fourteen…and somehow we didn’t label it love”(Lockhart). Although this may not seem greatly important, it helps to exhibit more about Cadence and her unique and introverted personality. She has always seemed to isolate herself from any form of relationship and she doesn’t particularly believe in labels, but I think Gat may be able to bring her out of her comfort zone and change her a bit later on in the book. Overall, I think the word used in this context is important to this part of the book because it reveals more about Cadence’s personality and foreshadows her relationship with Gat.

The book I'm currently reading is "Ranger's Apprentice" by John Flanagan, and I'm on page 107. The word i think is most important and relevant to this section of the book i have read is dispatch. "...He placed a dispatch on the table...."so your taking dispatches to King Swyddned..."(page13). I chose the word dispatch because that is what is happening in the book so far they sort of just started their journey and were sent off to kill Morgorath. Their journey is already rough, from storms to supplies, and journeys are hard in real life too, just like the journey Lewis and Clark took through the Louisiana purchase. Lewis and Clarks were dispatch to Louisiana territory to map Louisiana just like how the Rangers were dispatched to find and kill Morgorath.
