  1. I’m reading “A tree grows in Brooklyn” by Betty Smith. I am on page 420. What I really like about my book is that the main character Francie loves school and wants to be a writer. She is so good at writing that she got an A on her composition in school and writes a play for her school. What I really don’t like about my book is that Francie’s father dies. He leaves Katie, his wife to take care of three children all by herself. But, they manage to survive.

  2. I was reading "Torn Away" by James Henegan. I actually just finished the book and have not got a new one. The the thing i really like about the book is how the story takes place in the time of the Holocaust. I'm really interested with that. The thing I don't like about the book is how Declan, the main character, puts up a wall. Throughout the whole book. Up until the end, when Declan lets it down and lets his new family in. That part was a bit emotional. (:

@jlett .. great post! Would you recommend the book?
    @Tbolton .. Maybe elaboarate a little more & you'll be perfect (:

  3. I'm reading Heat by Mike Lupica. I'm on page 20. What I really like about the book is that it's a baseball book and its really descriptive. What I don't like about the book is that the beginning goes by really slow and boring.

  4. I am currently reading Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson and I am on page 170. One thing I really like about the book is that I can really relate to it. It takes place in Disney world and from my background knowledge and how I've visted Disney so much, I really understand what they are talking about and where they are at. It helps me understand and comprehend my book a lot better and that's why I really like it. On the other hand, there are more things that I like than don't like in this book but one thing I do not like are some of the main characters (the main charters are a group of kids). Most of them are snobby uptight little brats. If I was Finn I would have slapped them in the face. Finn is part of the group but is one of the characters that I can actually stand. Anyways, most of them are little, annoying brats that only think about themselves which REALLY bothers me. Otherwise, the book is great!

  9. I have just finished reading The 5th Wave, by Rick Yancey. There were 457 pages. I really enjoyed my book so it is very difficult for me to choose what my favorite part is. If I had to choose, my favorite thing about the book would probably be that it switches points of view, from Cassie to Sam to Ben. It really adds a whole different view on the book, because you get to know what’s happening to the other characters. Again, since I enjoyed this book so much, choosing a least favorite part is almost impossible. The only thing I did not like about the book is the way it explained how the 5th wave commenced, it did not go into detail when they talked about the “back story”. It left me wondering, why did they chose to attack earth? And why not just live here in peace with the humans? I guess they did this to make us use our imagination, but I don’t like knowing.

  12. The book that I am currently reading is Baseball Great by Mike Lubica. I am on page 178 out of 225 pages. If I had to choose, my favorite thing about the book would have to be the history it tells you about baseball. It tells you all of the need to know things about past and present baseball players and fields. Also, if I had to choose the thing that I dislike about the book that would have to be the fact that is doesn’t really have good details about the baseball players and fields. Meaning it doesn’t go deep into the past and present.

  13. I have just begun reading Payback Time by Carl Deuker and I am on page 27. One thing I really like about my book is that is about football and I love books about football. The main thing is that there is a school reporter that used to be a football player but he chose the reporting life. One thing that ii don’t like about my book is that it is about reporting and writing and I am not really a fan of writing and reporting. Also people are very normal and typical teen, and those kind of books can be boring.

  23. I'm reading The Rise of Nine, by Pittacus Lore, i like this book because it have action, on page 197,"I swing around with my other elbow, but he delivers a hard kick to my left knee. Cartilage rips and pain sears through my leg." what i don't like about the book is that it has a lot of cussing. I'm not going to give you a quote though.if there was no cussing in it, i think it would be the perfect book.

  25. I am reading Steve Jobs thinking differently by Patricia Lakin. I am on page 39. One I thing I like about the book is, that it tels the story of Steve Jobs. I get to learn more stuff about him that I didn't know. One thing I don't like about the book is, there is some parts I don't understand. Sometimes I get lost on a part because, I have no idea what the author is talking about.

  28. Im still reading Ronald Dahls book of ghost story and im on page 50. I really like this book because its octobor and its and it gets kind of scary on all the stories he tells. There is only one reason why i dont like it because it switches stories so fast and its kind of hard to catch on what he talks about. But i really like this book and i cant wait on going to the end of the book and seeing on how it is.

  30. I just finished Looking for Alaska by John Green. One specific thing I really liked about this book was the characters. They were all funny and I could relate to them in a lot of ways. One thing I did not really like about this book was that Alaska Young died in the middle of the book. Alaska was my favorite character.
@jlett6 Is that a good book? Also, good job on your blog!
@mglaeser3 Great blog! I hate when books do that, it's so confusing.

  31. I am reading The Killing Sea by Richard D. Lewis and one interesting fact i like about the book is that it is so realistic and wants you to figure out what is going to happen next in the baook. One thing i do not like about the book is that people that i don't want to die actually dies in the book.

When i was youger i was really bad,and my mom use to always give me beatings.Just like john in the book, and i think that other people can relate to it as well. One thing that i dislike about the book is how its so confusing. This book requires alot of thinking and when i say alot, i mean alot. This book didnt give me the main characters name untill i git on page 30. I think i can keep up though.

  36. i am reading "The people of sparks"
by jeanne Duprau , i am on page 27 so far and my favorite part was how hard it was to have ddon and lina to giet out of the city of ember. it took a while to get every one out and , it made a lot of people get injured and or died.
one thing i diss like about the book is how the author makes the scarecters think that a scraped knee and the feeling of pain, is new to them. it has me feeling like the whole book is based of of the giver, but yet a diffrent story.

  37. I am now reading, " Secrets, lies, and algebra" by Wendy Lichtman. Im on page 13. In my book, one thing i really like is the feelings it gives me. It makes me feel like im really there. One thing i dont like about my book is that i cant really relate to a lot of scenarios because i dont like math. Otherwise, my book is very good and i like it so far.

  38. I am currently reading The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater I am on page 23. One of the things I like about my book is that the book is realistic in most ways and some of the things in the book could happen to anyone. I also like the fact that even though I’m only on page 23 the book is already on the interesting part and doesn’t start out with a boring prologue. One of the things I don’t like about my book is that even though I’m at the start of the book it doesn’t seem like it has very much it can use for the next 130 pages. I also don’t think that my book is related to me in any way, shape or form.

  44. I am currently reading the Reptile Room by Lemony Snicket and I'm on page 72. One thing that I really like about this book is that it always has very surprising things happen at random times that you woulnd't suspect to happen. The author also tells the story very well and adds some humor to it. One thing that I don't like is that there's always bad things that happen to them and it always gets me upset. I don't like that because it changes the whole story and then makes me sad and feel bad for the characters in the story.

  49. I am reading a book called scarlet by Marissa Meyer. I am on page 143 of 452. One thing I really do like about this book is the plot. It is in France. I really like the plot because I’ve always wanted to go to France. Also it’s different. Not many book plots are located in France and I find it cool. One thing I do not like is the fact that it’s her grandma that gets kidnapped. I find it a little weird because usually grandmas are old and un-capable of fighting or defending their selves. I fell like maybe it should be someone a little younger, like her sister that she really cares about, or her cousin.

  51. I am now reading One For The Murphys by Lynda Mullay Hunt.I am on page 112. The one thing that I really like about my book is how the feelings are.It makes me feel happy about how Carley got adopted by a new family that will take better care of her.The one thing that I don't like about my book is that Carley got adopted because her mom didn't want to take care of her.It makes me feel really sad.

  55. The book I am currently reading is called Sand Dollar Summer, by Kimberly K. Jones. I am on page 39/206. One thing that I really like about my book is that right in the beginning, some action comes in. Her mom gets in a car accident and is severely hurt. One thing I don’t like about my book is that the author doesn’t describe the characters enough. I don’t even know what two of the characters are, but I am enjoying the book a lot.

  56. I am on page 159 out of 351 in Redwall by Brian Jacques. The details Brian uses to describe the story creates a picture in your mind. It really feels like he putting you in the story. I can’t seem to find a single thing in this book that I detest. It does get a bit gory at times but that is part of the sensory details.

  61. I am currently reading a book named 'The Goddess Test' by Aimee Carter. And I am on page 85. The thing that I really like about this book is the genre of the book. This book's genre is fantasy. Also Kate who is main character of this book wants to sacrify herself for her mom and her friends. It's very impressive However, the thing that I don't like about this book is Kate's mother is very sick. She has disease like cancer, so she doesn't have much time left in her life.

  64. I've finished reading A Mutiny in Time by James Dashner. I really like the idea of the plot of the book, i.e, history has been altered and the characters have to go back in the past to fix it. What I don't like about the book is how the climax of the book is so short and happens too quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  65. One thing I really like about my book is that it makes me laugh.one thing I really dislike is how long the book is. The author is James Patterson. The title is middle school the worst years of my life. I am on page 20.

  68. I am reading “The Hobbit” by J.R.R. Tolkien and I am on page 86. One thing I really like about the book is how the author describes all of the environments, characters, and buildings. This makes the book to be pictured in your head and make the book more interesting. One thing I really don’t like about the book is how the author doesn’t talk about the main character’s family and how he inherited everything from his family. This doesn’t make sense to me why he would leave it out but have backgrounds of the other characters.

    ReplyDelete
  69. jlett6 Great job on the blog! Good details.

  71. The book I'm reading is “It's not like I planned it this way”, by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor, I’m on page 223. What I really enjoy about my book is that it describes the characters with such great detail. You are able to have a picture of what they look like, which is nice because when you read that person’s name off the pages you can know what action they did and if it matches the person you though they were with the details given in book. What I don’t like about the book is that in some parts it is confusing of what point it’s trying to get across because it is so descriptive it’s hard to pinpoint what the book is trying to say. It can be confusing at some points but over all I enjoy the book I’m reading. And I would recommend the book to you.

  75. I am currently reading Pretties by Scott Westerfeld and I am on page 139. One thing I really like about my book is how I and many others can relate to it. In life we find ourselves separated into many categories, two mainly is Pretties and Uglies. Although this book takes place in the future, in a high tech paradise and everyone is meant to turn pretty at 16, I’m sure a lot of people in the real world, especially teens, have been pressured into being something they truly aren’t and have had to make tough decisions based on where there true loyalty lies on whether to give up our friends over something that may or may not be worth it. We all may make mistake like in this book, Tally had at first gave herself up to be pretty to be a willing test subject on fixing lesion but then forgot about what was truly important form the surgery becoming a pretty minded Tally, who only cares about being bubbly, popular and fabulous. I hope she will remember how important saving her friends from the lesions is so she will be a subject and do the right thing. One thing I really don’t like about my book is how the technology they describe is just so advanced and awesome that it makes you so jealous when you read the book. For example, everything you want or need comes out of your wall and the wall talks too and tells you information and turn off the lights for you. You don’t have to buy anything, and you don’t have to work for what you get at all. They also have hover boards and cosmetic surgery, that you shouldn’t do of course, but that is a lot of temptation to get eyes that tell time, for example which is pretty cool. They also have interface ring that track you wherever you go, which is guess is a little creepy but that is advanced. There is also a lot of other technology in the book that people today would die for.

  76. In my book, Scarlet, by Marissa Meyer (page 424 of 454), one thing that I like about the book is how the author sticks to the plot of the original stories slightly, but still finds a way to keep the story interesting, like putting it way far into the future, or making some of the characters be from the moon.
However, there is absolutely one thing I did not like in this book. *****SPOILER ALERT***** IF YOU ARE READING THIS BOOK AND ARE NOT INTO THE FINAL 100 PAGES AND DO NOT WANT THE BOOK HORRIBLY SPOILED PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE READING: So, for the entire book, Scarlet has been looking for her grandmother, who was kidnapped. When she does finally find her, the poor life of Scarlet’s grandmother lasts no more than one page, before she is violently thrown against a wall (killing her) by a crazed madman. This I found insanely disturbing/depressing/disappointing, since the entire book led up to that one big letdown moment. You can see why I'm kind of mad, right?

Diana is a nice person. She helps her friend Amelia by being in a play for her while Amelia is at soccer tryouts. One specific thing I dislike about my book is, at the beginning. In the beginning it is confusing. It starts off talking about thanksgiving and works it way up to talking about school.

The one thing i like about my book is the determination the main character Troy white has by impressing the Atlanta Falcons With his football skills. But, I didn’t like how one of the characters passed away

She cares about all her friends at school. The thing that I really don't like about my book is that Annabelle has to move to another house, away from all her friends because her mom has a new boyfriends and the house is closer to his job.

  93. In my book the BFG by Roald Dahl I’m currently on page 40. There are quite a few things that I like about my book, one being that for me every single page there’s interest. Every page I learn something about a character or something to do with action. I’ve only had one reading session and I couldn’t stop reading. One thing I don’t like about my book the BFG (big friendly giant), actually kidnaps the main character Sophie a six year old girl from England. But the start to understand each other and make a plane to stop the other nine giants from eating more humans.

  96. My book is The fault in our starts by john green. I am on page 27, one specific thing I like about my book is that it is very descriptive. Like when she describes the book she reads over and over again she describes to me why she cant put it down. One thing I don't like about it is its a little slow moving like she wont get to appoint fast enough; hopefully it speeds up. Right now I enjoy reading it.

  97. I read Eggs by Jerry Spinelli. I recently finished the book. One thing I liked was the plot development. It constantly keeps unfolding instead of having large parts of the book focusing on some peripheral detail in the plot. It really keeps you interested in the plot because you know something new is about to happen. The one thing I didn't like was the lack of character development. There are 2 main characters and 2 main peripheral characters. With such a small cast of characters there was so much room to better develop the characters and their own personalities. When reading this book it makes you think, "hmm, I thought I would remember these characters than I do now."

  102. I am currently reading, “Rip Tide”, by Kat Falls, and am on page 158. One thing I really like about my book is that it has endless action. Near the very beginning he encounters squids that try to attack him. Later on, Ty’s (the main character) parents were being kidnapped, and then he was chased by the kidnappers. He escaped only to adventure off to find Shade, Gemma’s outlaw brother. There is non-stop action in this book. One thing I don’t like is that, it only gives me the perspective of the author and Ty. Not only that, but it doesn’t give me the feelings of other character’s except Ty’s. It upsets me because there is a relationship with Gemma and Ty. I’m not a big, “drama” fan. I just want to know what everyone feels, because it makes me feel like I am Ty and have a crush on a girl. I don’t really like that kind of stuff, and would prefer if they told me she liked him or something.

  104. My book is Sasquatch by Roland Smith and I am on page 60. One thing I really like about my book is the author made the main character a teenager. I enjoy this because I can relate to what the character is expressing. The author displays this across the book several times. For example: Dylan staying up late on weeknights, always having a ton of homework, etc. One thing I dislike about the book is that occasionally the author wont go into great detail on a topic that is imperative based on plot development. For example: the author writes that Dylan arrives at a restaurant downtown then the next page he leaves. I do not like how the author does not explain little things that make a big difference. Like how he arrived there, mode of transportation, those types of details.

  107. The book I am reading is called "The Garden of Eve" by K. L. Going. I am on page 49. I love the book because it keeps me guessing and wondering what's going on and what's about to happen. One thing I don't like about the book is sometimes it's too vague to the point where it gets a little boring. Fortunately, it's got a lot better and very interesting!

@tmccray4 I love your post! Great job!
    @jlett6 Great job!

  108. The book i just finished reading is Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. What I really like about this book is that this book is adventurous. It is talking about Greek Gods and Mount Olympus. It also talks about missions. Like if the mission is successful it can save the world. There is really nothing I don't like about the book except for the part where Percy's mother " died ". But at the end she wasn't dead. Just in the underworld almost dead.

  111. I am currently reading Peter Pan by J.M Barrie, and I am on page 40. There are a lot of things I like about this book so far, but the one thing I really like is how Peter says to Wendy “I’ll teach you.” Teach Wendy how to fly. “I’ll teach you how to jump on the wind’s back, and then away we go.” I like this part a lot because he is being sweet and willing to teach Wendy how to fly. The one thing I really don’t like about this book is all the characters and how they come into the story at a random time. I don’t like how there are so many characters because it makes the story very confusing and hard to understand.

  114. I am read "the Eleventh plague" I'm on page 109. What i really like about my book is that it is very thrilling. It will keep you on your toes. The only thing is that i don't like about it is the fact it really short ha-ha. It is a really great book all the way through luckily.

  117. The author of my book is Rick Yancey, the title is Alfred Kropp the Seal of Solomon, the page I am on is 66. I like that it’s a big adventure, and that Alfred was a kind of normal person that found out he is one of the most important people in the world, as though his father left him because he didn’t want Alfred to have the kind of life he had, and he was the size of normal person till he became about 14 then he became about 6foot3inches. But what I don’t like is that it seems to be the same basic ending the whole time, I didn’t finish yet but it seems to be the same way where he almost dies and comes back kills the bad guy gets the girl hangs with his friends and live happily till the next book comes out.

  119. The book I am reading is Alice's Adventures in wonderland/Through the looking glass by Lewis Carroll. I am on 80%. I like the book because it is very deep, it has many hidden meanings in it. An example of this is that when Alice is talking to the mad hatter about a riddle she gives up and wants the answer, and the Hatter says," I haven't the slightest clue.". I also like it because it is fun and has funny characters like the Cheshire Cat. One thing I don't like about the book is the bad ideas it has in it; such as following a rabbit into its hole without a way out.

  121. The book I am currently reading is Standing against the wind by Traci l Jones. I am on page 50, what I
really like about my book is that it’s about a girl who got sent to live with her aunt because her mom
wasn’t so good. Her mom was sent to prison for robbery. Just before that she had taken her away from
her grandmothers and she really loved being there. She couldn’t go back when her mom got sent away
she had to go stay with her aunt in Chicago. What I don’t like about the book is that it doesn’t explain
why she really loved her grandma.

  122. I am on page 210 of the green mile by Stephen King. One thing that I really love about the book is the suspense that the book offers. The book is about a man named John Coffey who committed a crime and is on death row for it. But the question is will John Coffey live or die. One thing that I don’t like about the book is how Eduard Delacroix dies. When Del is sent to the electric chair to die he is promised that Mr. Jingles (his pet mouse) will be taken care of. On e of the guards Percy Wetmore who is a little bit crazy does not wet the sponge. (Back the 1930’s they would put a sponge with water on you head before they would shock you in the electric chair; they did this because the electricity would go through the sponge and strait to your brain, it works faster and more painlessly.) And when Percy did not wet the sponge Del died slowly and painfully.

  123. in my book I really like this series because the books are long and action packed. the book is based on ancient Greek mythology and is set in New York. One thing I do not like is that the movie did not have all the stuff that the book had in it and was disappointing but still ok. I am reading Percy Jackson Battle of the Labyrinth I am one page 60 and the another is Rick Riordan

  124. I started reading "The kind of Friends we used to be" by Frances O'Roark Dowell. I am in page 56. What I really like is that Marylin and Kate were best friends, Until last year. The thing I don't like is Marylin ignored Kate to make her feel bad and to improved their friendship if Kate takes fashion advice by Marylin.

  127. I am reading "Vietnam Book One" written by Chris Lynch, and I am currently on page 28. My favorite element about my book is that it contains real life situations that some people may be able to relate to. One thing I do not like about my book is that it is too short, because I really like it and I wish it was longer so I could continue enjoying it.

  128. The book I was reading is “the vampire stalker by Alison van diepen”. One thing that I like about the book is that show things from Amy’s point of view. She doesn’t feel like she has to hold anything back simply because it’s her thoughts. One thing that I don’t like about the book is the lack of description for the characters. For instant it doesn’t tell much about the characters look like, it only really gives you the simple descriptions like eye color and hair color.

  131. I am reading A Kiss In Time by Alex Flinn, on page 30. One thing I like about this book is that it's about a princess and a curse, that a witch put on the princess. Of course the curse will be broken when she gets her true love kiss. I love reading or watching the storys about those types of things. One thing I don't like about my book is that sometimes I get confused, because of how the words are spoken. They say things like "Thy must cross now". Reading that gets annoying, but overall the book is great!

  133. I have just finished, "One For The Murphy's". The book was by Lynda Hunt. The one thing I really like about this book was the fact that it had realistic problems, and not fake ones. The thing that I didn't like was the ending of the book. The end of the book she goes with her mother and it seems like there should've been a different ending! It needed a better ending most definitely.

  136. I am currently reading Confessions of a Murder Suspect by James Patterson. I am on page 65. One thing I really like about this book is the character Tandy Angel. I like how she does her own detective work to determine who murdered her wealthy parents. One thing I dislike about this book is how her parents owned a medical company and tested the drugs on their children. I think that is very weird and unusual.

  137. Lfindley6, great blog post! I agree with you on both reasons. I love it when a book makes you feel like you’re in the book with them; it makes the reading so much better. You also made me laugh with your dislike. I don’t like anything that has to do with math, so I don’t think I would like that book very much. Keep up the good work!

  139. The book I am currently reading is called Stick Dog by Tom Watson and I am on page 25, The thing I like most about my book is the fact that it is very funny and it has real life attributes. But, the thing I don't like about my book is that their are too many pictures and the artist can't draw. But other than that my book is great. Tom Watson is a great author. But a terrible artist.
