We will be analyzing/reading poetry for our new unit. For this blog, think of a song that you really like. Post a section of the lyrics to the song along with the song title and artist. Songs must be school appropriate!

I decided to pick one of my favorite songs from when I was in middle school. I decided to go with "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was either that or a Hanson song (google them if you want a good laugh).

To me this song has several themes. One could be insecurity in love, based on the line "I don't want the world to see me" and "I just want you to know who I am." The writer seems as if he loves someone but is afraid she will not love him back. Unconditional Love could also be a theme based on the lines "I'd give up forever to see you" and "All I can breath is your life." This lets us know that the writer would do anything for the one he loves.
I like the song because you can feel the emotion and hurt. The song is real and is not fake, you can tell the lyrics truly come from the writers heart.

The theme of this song is a bedtime story to a kid. It had a morale of to not steal for money. The song was about a kid who was in a chase of the police because he stole from a cop by accident. I held a pregnant woman by hostage got a gun from a drug dealer, and threatened to shoot an unarmed officer. But the song have good meaning to it and surprising clean.:-)
My favorite song/rap is "Changes" by the late great 2pac.

The theme of this song in my opinion is to live your life everyday like you deserve a 21 gun solute. I enjoy this song because the metaphor it uses is unique and passionate. I also enjoy this song because it is buy Green Day and i have loved them since i was little. I think this song is very special because a 21 gun solute is a honorable thing so if you live your life to the fullest as if your getting a 21 solute at the end. This song isn't just catchy its very meaningful.

This song has many themes such as, confidence. I picked this because the whole song he is singing like a champ by comparing himself to Ray Lewis, Peyton Manning etc. When you are comparing yourself with that kind of attitude you know you are pretty confident. Also the line “I'm the first pick, the first round, signing bonus profound” It says signing bonus showing he can back up his confidence because he pretty much got a raise. I use this song before sports to get confidence the confidence he shows is why I love it.

The meaning of this song is very simple: shake out all of you negative feelings and you will experience true happiness. This is one of my favorite songs, and is a great morale booster. Most of Florence's songs are based around her having negative feelings, but making herself better. It truly is an inspirational song, and highly recommend it to anyone willing to listen to it.
