We will be analyzing/reading poetry for our new unit. For this blog, think of a song that you really like. Post the lyrics to the song along with the song title and artist.
Then write one paragraph where you tell us:

Your paragraph should be 5-7 sentences. Make sure you include the THEME of your song and that your song is appropriate.

I decided to pick one of my favorite songs from when I was in middle school. I decided to go with "Iris" by the Goo Goo Dolls. It was either that or a Hanson song (google them if you want a good laugh).

To me this song has several themes. One could be insecurity in love, based on the line "I don't want the world to see me" and "I just want you to know who I am." The writer seems as if he loves someone but is afraid she will not love him back. Unconditional Love could also be a theme based on the lines "I'd give up forever to see you" and "All I can breath is your life." This lets us know that the writer would do anything for the one he loves.
I like the song because you can feel the emotion and hurt. The song is real and is not fake, you can tell the lyrics truly come from the writers heart.

The theme of this song, I think, is that everything will be okay. In life, there are situations where it feels like everything's wrong and nothing can go right, but when you wake up the next morning, you'll be okay and you'll just forget about all the negative aspects in your life. I really like this song for many reaons; Taylor Swift is my favorite singer of all time, and the song is in a movie I am SO ready to see, The Hunger Games. It really fits the story perfectly. :)
I really like the song We Are Young by Fun. The theme of the song is have fun while you are still young. Life only gets harder as you get older, so as much fun as you can when you're younger. I like the song because it's a good beat and really fun song to belt the words to with a crowd. Like at our Luau dance, everyone started singing it and everyone knew the words! It was so much fun!

The theme of the song is you are always important to someone. I think this because the soldier isn't well known besides the one girl. She still cries for him even though no one else cares. I like this song because my dad was in the army and I can relate to it. Also, the story is sad but insprirng in a way that makes me smile when I hear it.

I like this song because its relaxing.I also like this song because i'm a big Zac Brown fan and I like country music. : ] The theme is a dad who try's to explain to his son that he is sorry for not being there for him and explains that its not his fault for the divorce that he could not work things out with his mom. Also that he would definitely rather be with his son than drive daily, wich is his job. Many dads can relate to this song. In the song he try's to convince his son that the only reason he's not been there is because of the differences between him and his sons mom.

the theme of this song is set your spirit free. it was written as a tribute to dwane allman, a member of the allmon brothers who died in a car crash. i like this song because after the lyrics are over, one of the longest and most epic guitar solos plays. not only that, but the section with the lyrics is great for a slow dance for, lets say, piggy prom? i seriosly recomend looking up and listening to this song, as it is from the time when things are popular, they are actualy good, unlike today, where all that is popular is crap. but still, look it up, if you havent listend to it yet.

The song We Are Young by Fun. To me the theme of the song is live life to the fullest while you are young because the older you get the less fun you can have.so have as much fun as you can while you're younger. I like the song because it has a really catchy beat and tone. while also every time I here the song and people are around it gets every one into a great party mood. "Like at our Luau dance :)"

I think the theme to this song is beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think this is the theme because they guys in the song are talking about how beautiful this girl is when she doesn't, but they just keep singing about how beautiful they think she is. With all the things she does like how she smiles and moves her hair. Also they talk about how everyone around her can see how beautiful she is but she cant.and they talk about how they like to be around her. I really like the lyrics to this song there so sweet.

There are probably more than one themes in the song. But i think the main theme of this song is that the world can be better depending on how you view it in my opinion. I like this song because it is peaceful and it has a nice melody. I heard it earlier this year and fell in love with it.

my song is Drunk by Ed Sheeran. at first it sounds like a pop song just by the title but its a realy chill song about this guy who is having problems with someone he loves and their relashionship isn't the same so he just wants to stay drunk so that he doesn't have to think about it anymore.

I think that the theme is always believe in yourself and keep your head high. In the song its saying she doesn't believe shes beautiful and the song is saying she is and don't let anyone tell you wrong. I like the beat to this song and the lyrics are very catchy. I also really like the band One Direction and I came across this song. Its one of my favorite songs and it can relate to everybody as a whole when they feel insecure.

Another theme might be love conquers all and you can tell that when he says "But i'm holding you closer than most" This lets me know that the writer probably really misses somebody that he loved and that he regrets everythign that he did to let her go. This song, and the majority of Owl City's songs, just take to my own paradise. The lyrics easily slip a visual into my mind, while the techno touches and electronic sides create a great beat. This song imparticular takes me directly to the brisk winds and salty air of the ocean. Maybe it was because I listened to this song non-stop while I was at the beach for vacation, but it's entire soul of a song screams "water" to me. Even though it's supposed to be a 'lonely lullaby', it's very upbeat and happy- most of the time. It's his reminisce of his and Ann Marie's time together- even though it's in the past.

The theme of the song would be if someone is being mean to you, don't be their boyfriend/girlfriend. I like this because it has a really catchy tune and I like the lyrics. It proves a really good point about love. It is kind of like a "Romeo and Juliet" kind of song. It's about a boy that is in love with a girl but doesn't even realize it.
