Blog #15 Due: Tuesday 1/18/11

This is the Last Blog of the Semester!

Think about the book you are currently reading.  Give an example of a Cause and Effect situation in your book.  Tell us how the Effect might change if the decision(Cause) made were to be different. Include details, your books author, title, and current page number you are on. Remember your post must be at least 5 sentences and you need to comment twice.

199 comments:

  1. THe book that i am reading is almopst famous by Zoey dean and i am crrently on page 205. An example of cause and effedct would be that:Emily ( one of the main chacters) is about to become famous and because Mac another one of the main characters is pushing too hard emily has a nervous break down and decides that she shouldn't become famous. Maybe if Mac werent pushing too hard she could have lead Emily to a more simpler famous life than she had when mac was pushing her too hard

  3. The book I am currently reading is called I so Don't do Mysteries. The author of the book is Barrie Summy and I am on page 120. The cause of my book is Sherry's mom died in a drug bust. The effect is that Sherry has to help her mom find the rhino killer to save her mom's spirit. Maybe if Sherry's mom wasn't a cop she would have never died and Sherry wouldn't have to be on a wild goose hunt to find the rhino killer.

  4. I am reading Closed for the Season by Mary Downing Hahn. I just finished the book. A cause and effect in my book would be because they found a clue to the mystery, it made them persue and gave them courage to help them solve the murder. By finding a clue (bag of plastic characters and a note) it made them go through with what they were doing and helped them solve the mystery of the murder in the house. If they didn't decide to look for the bag they wouldn't have found it, and they wouldn't have solved the mystery, making the book pointless.

  5. amonari2,
I agree that Mac shouldn't push her hard, then maybe she would be less stressed to follow her dream and become famous.

  6. kmedero2,
I think that the rhino killer is kind of weird, and that her mom wouldn't have become a cop, so that she wouldn't have died. I hope you enjoy your book!

  9. The book i currently reading is called All the lovely bad ones by Mary Downing Hahn. I'm currently on page 48. The Cause and Effect example of is that Corey and Travis overheard a ghost experience from one of the Inn employees. The effect is that they interrogate the Inn guest and the employees. If the Cause was to change te effect will change because Corey and Travis wouldn't have a reason to interrogate everyone if they never overheard the ghost experience.

An example of cause and effect in my book is when Vlad and Henry go to a party, Vlad gets angry almost shows every one that he is a Vampire. Vlad gets angry at the bullies of the school when they make fun of him. The effect might have changed if they hadnt gone to the party. Vlad and Henry left after the insident.

  17. The book i am reading is called Maximum Ride by James Patterson. I am on page 204. One example of cause and effect in my book is when Max decided she wanted to get her friend to surgically remove a chip from her arm. Even though she couldn't move her left hand for a while, now the labs can't track her or the flock. If she hadn't, more people would be able to find her.

  20. My book is Titans curse and the author is Rick Riordan. The majority of the time, Percy, The main character, Generally have find other half-bloods like himself to keep them safe at camp half blood. the cause is Percy finding the other half-bloods and the effect would have to be the half bloods not being eaten by monsters. If Percy never finds them, they perhaps will be roasted over an open flame.

  21. ebowers4
Does the main character enjoy being a vampire?

The effect is that there is know way out. There are guards around the Unknown Regions. So, know one is allowed to go see what’s out there. 27. I am reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling. I am currently on page 365. There are many cause and effect situations in the book but I only chose one to explain. The effect is that Harry Potter, the main character, is known by everyone. He is known by everyone because he lived through the most powerful curse cast by the most powerful dark wizard. He is the only known to have lived through the curse. Harry Potter was only a newborn baby when he was struck by the wizard's deadly curse, but he survived! Harry Potter wouldn't be famous if he died after being struck by the dark wizard's deadly, powerful curse.

  30. I am currently reading Poeple in the News "Angelina Jolie." It was written by Rachel Lynette. If their was something I could choose for a cause/effect it would be when Angelina married Jonny Lee Miller. If she wouldnt have married him than she wouldnt have gotten a divorse. If the cause could change and she would have got to know him better before she went on and married him, the effect might have been different. It could have ended up as they would have stayed together longer abecause they got to know each other or the would have never gotten married in the first place because she got to know how he accually is.

One cause and effect situation is because of train wreck they were in was just like the one decades ago the souls from the previouse reck enterd the bodies of the ones in the current wreck. Well if the train didn't crash alot more things would be different. Like the dead wouldn't be coming back to life. Another one is that the boys brother would be normal.

  46. I am reading Turnabout, by Margret Peterson Haddix, and I'm on page 114. Cause and Effect takes place when Anna Beth is old, but doesn't want to die. She likes being around her friends and family and it temps her after she hears about project Turnabout. She accepts to test the project and to her suprise it actually works. Yet everything is fine until she is reaging, and now she can't drive, and she can't take care of herself. The Cause would be she doesn't want to die and she becomes tempted. The Effect would be that she becomes unhappy with what occured afterwards.

  50. The book i am reading is found by margaret peterson haddix. The cause is chip getting a letter saying we're coming back to get you. The effect is Chip asking if he's adopted and once he finds out he is he becomes obsessed and paranoid with finding his birth parents. His friend Jonah (the main character) is also adopted and knew it his whole life but never cared to look into who his birth parents were gets sucked into chip's paranoia and starts to search for his as well.

  61. The book I am currently reading is called Up Close: Rock Legend Elvis Presley. I am on page 126. One example of cause and effect in my book is that Elvis was addicted to prescription drugs and could not stop taking them. For this reason he died and no one really understood why, except his wife. She was the one person who knew everything about him and didn't judge him. He took the drugs mostly because he was getting teased and people would always critise him. If he never took the drugs, I honestly believe he would still be alive today.

  122. The book I am currently reading is The Halloween Tree. The author's name is Ray Bradbury, and I'm page 142. I'm only a few pages away from finishing the book. A cause and effect example is when Pipkin disappeared(The cause) and all of the boys went after him(The effect). Maybe if Pipkin never really disappeared, then the boys would never had tried to find him, and halloween would have gone on as normal.

  187. A cause and efect situation that hapened in my story was that if Max had not went to sleep she probably would have not been kidnapped by earasers and put into a giant tank. She also wouldn't had have to pretend she was dead to escape from the giant tank and I beleive that if she did stay awake she would be there with her flock protecting them and keeping them safe from dangers harm. Sadly she isn't.Therefore if the cause was diffrent in this situation Max would have woke up that morning ready for a fight mor flight and she probably would have kept the flock safe from the new and improved MaxII that is there to pretend to be the real Max and to lead the flock into a dangerous and mind blowing trap that cost them heir lives.
